Watercolor Wash Background Technique

By | April 4, 2018

Happy Wednesday, half way through the week and only two sleeps until I leave Friday for OnStage Local in Atlanta this weekend and my first chance to see the new 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.

Today I thought I would share a technique with you that’s fun and the possibilities are endless, Watercolor Wash to create a background for your card.

For both cards a piece of Watercolor Paper is cut to 3″ x 4¼” and I used the same soon to be retiring 2016-2018 In-Colors: Dapper Denim, PeekaBoo Peach, Flirty Flamingo and Emerald Envy.  To create the background I squeezed some of the ink pad color on to the inside of the lid and used my AquaPainter, filled with water, to color the background.

The first card has strong, intense coloring and I used the Big on Birthday Photopolymer Stamp Set for the greeting and flowers. Watercolor paper is backed with Emerald Envy card stock on a PeekaBoo Peach card base.

For my second card I used a more watered down version of the colors for a soft pastel look before stamping with the High Tide Photopolymer Stamp Set in Basic Gray Archival Ink. Greeting is Basic Black. The card base is Dapper Denim and the edges are stamped using the Playful Backgrounds Photopolymer Stamp Set.

This is a fun technique so get yourself some Watercolor Paper, AquaPainter and Ink pads and try this soon!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try stamping.
