Where I have been and a new card!

For those of you following my blog, I mentioned earlier this month I was going on a cruise, from September 15-22 I was on a Western Caribbean cruise with five “new old friends” from high school and a new friend I just met.  We had a great time and it’s taken a few days to get back into the swing of normal day to day vs. vacation day to day. This was my first cruise and I definitely want to cruise again!

Here is a picture from the last night of the cruise, that’s Earlene, Patty, Joy, our Waiters, me, Cari and Kathy!  We had a great time and hope to go on another cruise together again!

The first port call of the cruise was Roatan Honduras, here is a picture from the lobby of the private club we spent the day at, don’t you just love all the different colors of the water!

View in Costa Maya Mexico, the mural and water are just so beautiful!

Here is water from the last port – Cozumel Mexico, the shades of the water are just so relaxing to look at.

Now how about some stamping, today I’m featuring a birthday card made with the Daisy Lane Suite (stamp set & coordinating medium daisy punch). With fall knocking on the door, thought I would Merry Merlot and Cajun Craze on the card.  The card base is Soft Suede and has been run through my die cutting machine using the Stylish Scroll Embossing folder (it’s not just for Halloween).  As an accent on the left side of the larger Very Vanilla unit I’ve added a narrow piece of Merry Merlot card stock, die cut from the largest Scalloped Square (Layering Squares Dies).  The medium size daisy is stamped in Cajun Craze ink on Cajun Craze card stock, punch with the coordinating medium daisy punch, layered with a Mini Stampin’ Dimensional and topped with a Gold Faceted Gem.  Happy Birthday is from the Itty Bitty Greeting stamp set and layered behind a piece of Come to Gather Designer Series Paper.

Christmas in September 2019

Happy Christmas in September. Today I am sharing with you 6 projects made with some of the products from the Wrapped in Plaid & Night Before Christmas Suites in the new 2019 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.

Here are the two cards and pillow treat box using Night Before Christmas Suite and Kraft Pillow Box from the Annual Catalog.  Did you notice Santa’s trim on his hat & suit are puffy – using the new puff paint that is activated by using your heat tool. How each is the ‘Believe’ card, instead of Gold Foil, why not use Basic Black, Whisper White or Very Vanilla card stock.

Here is a quick and easy tag using the Wrapped in Plaid 6″ x 6″ Specialty Designer Series Paper and the Pine Tree Punch, the possibilities with this tag are endless.

and finally, here is the two cards using a variety of trees both from designer series paper and embossing in gold.

Look for more ideas using these suites and the products/stamps/dies not featured in the above projects in the coming weeks.

Happy Birthday Maya!

Happy 17th Birthday to my favorite niece Maya! It’s hard to believe she is this old and starting her senior year at high school. This summer when I visited, we took a trip to Wildwood and spent a few evenings on the boardwalk – Maya was the big game winner, even winning one of those squirting water games!

Today I thought I would share with you the gifts including in the “birthday box” I sent to Maya for her birthday, hopefully she has opened the box, before reading this post! I’m featuring products from the Magnolia Lane Suite. Below is the envelope, with belly band, for her card – a Diamond Fold Pop Up!

Here is her card, along with the envelope. The card size is 6″ x 6″ when flat, I simply made a designer series paper envelope to go with the card.

Side view of the card:

Here’s the purse, as you know, no girl can have enough shoes or purses. The purse is perfect to hiding a few smaller gifts and stands on it’s own. Along with the purse is pocket Kleenex holder, with Velcro closure.

The last gift is a note pad holder, with ribbon tie closure. The card stock was wrapped around chip board for added strength, then note pads added. Ribbon was wrapped around for an easy and cute closure. That’s Memories & More card on the front, providing a nice mat to hide the ribbon.

Here is the inside of the note book holder.

Guess what DSP I used?

One of the nice features of the Designer Series Paper in the 2019 Holiday catalog is the “B” side of the paper. Today I’m featuring two cards made with the Night Before Christmas 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper. When I first looked through this paper while Christmas cards ran through my head as I looked at the other sides, so many general uses came to mind. The colors in this paper are  versatile, they include: Soft Suede, Poppy Parade, Pretty Peacock and Old Olive to name a few.

For the second card this week with a nod to the cruise I’m on, I’m featuring a piece of Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper teamed with the Waterfront Photopolymer Stamp Set for a Monochromatic card. Layering Circle Dies and Linen thread help pull the look all together.

Here is another card using a different piece of the Night Before Christmas 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, I’ve combine it with the Floral Essence Bundle by using Pretty Peacock for the flower and Poppy Parade for the flower center (use 1/2″ circle punch). Use Stampin’ Dimensionals for added height/depth to the flower.

Girls Gone Cruising!

Bet the title of this post grab your attention! As you are reading this I am either on the plane, on the way to the ship or sailing on my way to the Western Caribbean on my first cruise! I’m cruising with five other ladies, all new old friends from high school.

Todays card using the new Pigment Sprinkles and was made with my cruise in mind. Pigment Sprinkles are watercolor sprinkles that you mix with water to make watercolor backgrounds, watercolor washes or even paint images. The package includes six colors: Granny Apple Green, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Gorgeous Grape and Mango Melody. Based on trial and error, I prefer Shimmery White Card Stock or Watercolor Paper for use with the sprinkles.

For the background of the card with sprinkles, I dusted some over a piece of shimmery white card stock, spritzed with water, once dry cut into four even pieces, mixed them up and adhered to Gray Granite mat before adhering to the card base. Images and greeting are from Friend Like You in the Annual Catalog.

For this card I used Watercolor Paper along with a retired butterfly die to accent the Melon Mambo sprinkles.

The looks you get with sprinkles all depends on the paper used, amount of sprinkles used and amount of spritzes!

Swap Card with my 24/7 Stampers

Happy Saturday, one more sleep until I leave for my first cruise!  Tomorrow, Sunday, September 15th I leave for a 7 day cruise with a group of girl friends, we sail the Western Caribbean.

Recently I participated with other members of the 24/7 Stampers, a group of demonstrators I belong to for a card swap using products from the new Holiday catalog. Today I am sharing with you the card I made for the  swap.  My card features products from the Come to Gather Suite. One of the cool parts of this suite is the leaves dies – they cut & emboss!  Here is the front of the card:

For the inside I stamped the largest leaf in Mint Macaron ink, then the greeting over it in Pretty Peacock.

Here are the measurements for the card:

  • Card base is 4.25″ x 11″, scored at 3.5″ and 9″
  • Largest Stitched Shaped Square (die cut using designer paper) is matted on Cajun Craze card stock, the top 2/3 portion of this piece is adhered to the top folded piece
  • Square is layered with leaves, pumpkins and a feather wood element (adhered with a few mini glue dots
  • Layer leaves/pumpkins with Stampin’ Dimensionals, this way the wood element & pumpkins are the same height!

Below is another version of the card where I used a Nested Stitched Label die to layer the leaves, pumpkins and greeting on.

Welcome to the neighboorhood!

Over the last few months three of the houses close to us where sold and new neighbors moved in, I thought why not make a “Welcome” to the Neighborhood card to welcome them and include a set of handmade cards as well. While all three couples are younger than me, they each appreciated the gesture and already have family and friends they plan on using the cards for.

For this card – which has no stamping on the front – I used the Night Before Christmas Designer Series Paper from the new Holiday catalog, I just love this pattern. The card base is Crushed Curry and the mat Old Olive. Welcome, flowers and scrolled leaves are all from the Well Written Dies. There is a piece of Linen Thread wrapped around and tied in a bow, with long ends – something I don’t normally due.

To go with this card, I picked five cards – four birthday and one thinking of you card, packaged the card and envelopes in an Acetate Card box and wrapped with some Stampin’ Up! ribbon for presentation.

Open if you dare . . .

Today I thought I would feature a card made using the Monster Bash Suite, perfect for all the Halloween lovers out there!

This suite has a nice variety of products including really cute coffin treat boxes, which are food safe and look great embossed.

Here is how I put the card together:

  • Terracotta Tile card base that is embossed with the new Stylish Scroll Embossing Folder on the front
  • Piece of Monster Bash Designer Series Paper (3″ x 5 1/2″) centered and adhered with liquid glue
  • Pearlized Doily – using the non-pearlized side, I added Terracotta ink around the edges using the ink pad
  • Layered Circle die cut from designer paper
  • Ornate Frames die cut in Basic Black (one horizontal and one vertical)
  • Stamped the jar image twice on Whisper White in Memento Black Ink, fussy cut with Paper Snips and colored with Stampin’ Blends
  • Greeting stamped on Whisper White and die cut with coordinating die
  • Clear Wink of Stella brushed over the greeting, spiders and jar lids.

September Sunday Stamper Cards

Happy Sunday, one week from now I will be on my way to the Port of Miami to go on my very first cruise! I’m sailing with a group of “new old friends” from high school for an all girls trip!

The trip caused us to move our  Sunday Stamping to an earlier week and here are todays projects!

First we have the Diamond Easel card featuring products from the “Come To Gather” Suite. I’m also using the Country Home stamp set from the Annual Catalog.

Below is the inside of the card, the pumpkin in the center is layered (2) with Stampin’ Dimensionals to provide the “stopper” for the card so that the diamond on the front can stand up.

Here is the back you, while we added designer paper, you can always use card stock or just leave it blank, you decide.

Next is a Halloween card featuring the Monster Bash Product Suite:

and, finally a Christmas card featuring the Wrapped In Plaid Suite. This card swings open for a double flap card.

Here is what the card looks like when open:
