Whole Lot of Lovely

Today I thought I would create a post for all the folks impacted by Harvey this weekend.  I cannot image the feeling of having to leave my house, not sure if it will be there when I return, the rain, wind and aftermath you will have to deal with.  I have both friends and work colleagues in the path of Harvey.  Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you and hope that you and your loved ones are safe.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, Have a great day – Craft On!

A B C’s for PCC257

Happy Saturday, hope your weekend is starting off good. The weather here is beautiful, just wish it was a little warmer so I could get some pool time in. Temperatures are in the low 70’s, more like the beginning of fall.

I was a little stumped when I first saw this week’s challenge over at Paper Craft Crew – Back to School.  We don’t have kids so for me Back to School is the time to stock up on office supplies since I work from home for my day job. Once I thought about it – A, B, C popped into my head and the rest followed.  Click on the banner to check out their blog and all the ideas from their design team, play along if you like.

Once I knew I wanted to die cut A – B – C from the Large Letter Framelits, I needed to figure out what else to use for my card. Since I am a crafter and believe kids should have music and arts in school, the stamp set Crafting Forever came to mind.  I stamped a few of the images in Daffodil Delight ink on Daffodil Delight Cardstock for a nice mat for my card.  The card base is Dapper Denim.  The start of school is a time for new beginnings, so I thought the greeting from the Happy Celebrations stamp set was a perfect way to finish off the card.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Beach Themed Shaker Card

Well now, we are half way through the week, I’m not sure about you but the weekend will not be here soon enough for me. Lucky for me tomorrow (Thursday) is my Friday, as I have the real Friday as vacation day, yeah!

Do you hear the beach calling your name? It sounds a lot like what you hear when these stamps are calling to you. Answer all the calls! High Tides is a Two-Step Photopolymer Stampin’ set. Combine individual stamps to create the final image you want in the colors you want.  Pair this with the chair from Seasonal Layers Thinlits and a greeting from Sunshine Wishes and you are all set for a great card.

Today I thought I would share a beach themed shaker card I made. It’s been a while since I made a shaker card and I sure do love a good shaker card.  This one is made a little different as I stamped the images first then die cut the opening, providing depth to the card.

For my card, using a pencil and oval from the Layering Oval Framelits, I made small dots at the top/bottom/sides of the oval where I would be die cutting, then using stamps from the High Tide Photopolymer stamp set completed the scene with sand, sea grass, water, a lighthouse and seagulls.  Next I die the cut oval and adhered the cut out to a mat made from a piece of paper from the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper Stack, making sure to center the front piece on the mat.  A piece of Window Sheet was added to main Whisper White stamp front piece, then Foam Adhesive Strips added to create the “shaker” depth.  Sequins are from my stash from Pretty Pink Posh. To finish the card I added a chair die cut from the same Wood Texture paper used for the mat adhered to the front and added a cold beverage to the arm of the chair. Greeting is from Sunshine Wishes.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Oh So Eclectic meets PCC256

Hope everyone had a nice weekend, mine was four days and now back to work Monday morning. Lucky for me, it’s a four day week this week and next, with another four day weekend!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge, PCC256.  Banner for sketch below, click on it for a link to their blog to check out their design team projects as well as play along.

For my card I decided to turn the sketch from horizontal to vertical and use some of the “extra pieces” laying around my desk.  First I decided on a piece of paper from the Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, cut it 4″ x 5¼” and using Versamark ink stamped an image from the Playful Background stamp set in the lower right corner twice and heat embossing with White Stampin’ Embossing Powder. Next it was adhered to a Night of Navy mat and Lemon Lime Twist card base. Scraps of designer series paper were used for the banner and decorative ribbon banner which are under the Lemon Lime Twist Scalloped Circle (this was adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals).  Flower is from Oh So Eclectic Stamp Set and leaves from the Painted Harvest Bundle in Emerald Envy. Painted Harvest is available September 1, 2017.  The Berry Burst heart is one the of Thinlits from the Eclectic Layers Thinlits which actually embosses and I hand cut out. Sentiment is from Thoughtful Banners, punched first with the Classic Label Punch then Triple Banner Punch. Finishing touch, some Gold Faceted Gems.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Have you tried the Retiform Technique?

Happy Saturday, hope your weekend is off to a good start.

Today’s card features the Retiform technique. I’m sure some of you are asking what exactly is Retiform – well according to my Webster dictionary Retiform is “composed of crossing lines and interstices”, that’s rather technical but does explain the lines used to separate the different sections.

For my card, I used Post It Notes to block off a section, stamped the image and using Smoky Slate and a sponge dauber, colored in a slight line at the base of the Post It Notes for definition. Next, I covered what I just stamped with Post It Notes and moved the existing notes to a new spot creating another area to stamp and repeated the process until the entire piece of Very Vanilla was covered. The Very Vanilla is matted with Tranquil Tide on a card base of Smoky Slate.  Happy Birthday is from Rose Wonder, my go to greeting set, punch out with the new Everyday Label Punch (available September 1, 2017 in the holiday catalog), backed with a label punched in Tranquil Tide and Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon.  Both the Tranquil Tide mat & label are backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals for depth.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Clean & Simple Butterfly Basics Card

On Tuesday Stampin’ Up! opened registration for the November 2017 On Stage event in Salt Lake City, within 24 hours attendance was at capacity – wow, that was quick!  I was lucky enough to register and even have events planned for while I am there.  There’s dinner & a card swap Wednesday, massage before On Stage starts Thursday, a PJ’s & Card swap Thursday night and team dinner on Saturday.  Now I need to start planning for those card swaps, I can’t wait, bring it on!

Today I thought I would share with you a rather clean and simple card using the Butterfly Basics stamp set.

My card starts with the flower image stamped in Wild Wasabi in the center of a piece of Very Vanilla card stock. Next I just stamped the various images from the stamp set in different colors for the desired design.  To finish off the card, I spritz some Sweet Sugarplum using a Stampin’ Write marker and added a Copper Trim Bow for bling.  This would be the perfect card to let someone know you are thinking on the them.   The Very Vanilla was adhered to a mat of Rich Razzleberry and backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals before being added to a Wild Wasabi card base.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Preview of Painted Harvest for PCC255

Hope you had a nice weekend, it’s a short work week for me as I’m on vacation Thursday & Friday, nothing special planned, hope to get some pool and crafting time in, we might even go to the Rogers Flea Market Friday morning and have some fresh hot Amish donuts!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Sketch Challenge PCC255, the banner is below.  Thought I would use the design to preview one of the new stamp sets in the Stampin’ Up! 2017 Holiday catalog.

My card features the new Painted Harvest stamp set which is part of a new bundle available September 1st when the 2017 Holiday catalog goes live. I just love this flower, it’s a 2 step stamp and the color possibilities are endless. For my card I used Crushed Curry, topped with Cajun Craze and Lemon Lime Twist in the center. Both Burlap Ribbon and Copper Trim accent the card, I cut away strips of the burlap to wrap around the card and for the bow. The button is from my retired stash of Stampin’ Up! supplies and thought it went perfect with this card.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

August 2017 Sunday Stamper Cards

Today I thought I would share with you the cards my Sunday Stampers will be making today.

I’m featuring the Carols of Christmas Bundle (stamp set & matching dies), Daisy Delight Bundle (stamp set with matching daisy punch, which just happens to be the best selling punch in 5 years) and Glossy Paper with a ink refill/spritzing technique.

Here is a close up of the Two Way Fun Fold card we will be making using the Carols of Christmas bundle.  I have a few extra Whisper White Folded card centers with different designs for them to pick from. They stamp the greeting on Whisper White, die cut and mat with card stock matching the base. The “arm” of the card opens and the thin Whisper White Folded card center opens up. Both the inside & outside will be decorated.

Next is the

Glossy Paper technique using ink refills and Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water.  We will drop small drops of ink refill, spritz with water and tap with paper towel to pick up extra water. Once completely dry, stamp and put the card together. Rhinestones add a little bling at the end!

And finally, this card features the Daisy Delight Bundle, along with the Delightful Daisy Designer Series Paper, Faceted Gems and Double Stitched Ribbon. I’ll be bring along four different colors of ink pads for them to pick from for their Daisies.  Teeny Tiny Wishes will provide the greeting of choice and Classic Label punch to punch it out!

Watermelon for PCC254

Happy Monday, hope you had a nice relaxing weekend. Here is southwestern Pennsylvania it was more like a fall weekend than summer, highs only in the low 70’s. Saturday was filled with errands and I spent some time Sunday doing a little crafting, including making todays project.

When I first saw the Paper Craft Crew Inspirational Challenge – Backyard BBQ, I was rather stumped on what to do. While laying in bed Saturday night, the June 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit came to mind and I finally knew what I was going to do. Click on the banner below to check out the PCC blog and play along if you like.

Here is a close up of the gift bag and crate of watermelon. When thinking about the kit, I remembered you make watermelon slices, the perfect cool treat at your backyard BBQ. I used Thick Whisper White to stamp some slices of watermelon, hand cut them with my paper snips and used Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals to hold them all together for presentation. Used a darker shade of the Wood Textures Designer Series Paper for the crate and lighter sheet for the chair (my husbands idea when he saw the crate of slices) which is adhered with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. The greeting, Melon Mambo bakers twine and Lemon Lime Twist clips are all from the kit. I’m really pleased how this turned out, now I need to go buy some watermelon – it’s made me hungry for some!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

While the actual kit can not be purchases, here is a link to check out the video for the June 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit to see exactly what it’s all about.

Birthday card with Glossy handmade background

Today is my sister-in-law Debbie’s birthday and she is a fan of purple, so today’s card is for her!

The background is made with drops of re-inker, rubbing alcohol in a spritzer and glossy white cardstock. There are so many techniques that you can use glossy white cardstock with, I’m so glad Stampin’ Up! is selling it again.

To make the background I put a few drops of re-inker on my silicone craft sheet, spritzed alcohol on the paper and using a baby wipe, dapped the color over the paper. I used Elegant Eggplant, Wisteria Wonder and Smoky Slate. The picture, just does not due the background justice, I just love the shine.  The Happy Birthday is die cut in Elegant Eggplant and I used liquid glue (tapped on a piece of sponge) to adhere to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals on a mat of Elegant Eggplant, a few rhinestones and bow (from retired Smoky Slate ribbon) finish off the card.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Bright & Shiny Treat Bag

Today I thought I would feature a bright & shiny treat bag I put together using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and the new Foil Frenzy Specialty Designer Series Paper. Perfect for a notecard, gift card or small treat.

With Foil Frenzy – so many designs, so many colors, so many uses. Makes a statement with classic patterns combined with foil accents.

* Bright color foil designs printed on heavyweight Kraft paper
* 12″ x 12″
* 12 sheets: 1 each of 3 single-sided designs in 4 colors
* Acid-free and Lignin free
* Coordinating colors: Berry Burst foil, Kraft, Lemon Lime Twist foil, Soft Sky foil, Tangerine Tango foil

To get started on my treat bag, I cut a piece of the designer paper to 6″ x 12″ and using the mini treat bag Thinlits ran it through the Big Shot. Tear & Tape make is easy to put together, as the Big Shot makes the creases to fold. Next I used the Banner Triple Punch to create the Lemon Lime Banner, Scalloped Square framelit for Berry Burst mat and Stitched Shaped Framelit and Whisper White for the sentiment.  The High Tide Stamp set was used for the sentiment in Basic Black and “sun beams” stamped in Lemon Lime Twist.  There is some Metallic Black thread, attached with Fast Fuse to the back of the Berry Burst mat and a Berry Burst bow, tied and added to the front.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making stamping.

Why not try something a little different with Bermuda Bay card stock and ink, along with a Scallop Die cut Silver Glimmer circle and greeting heat embossed in Silver, another quick easy card. For my card, I stamped the leaves directly on the background, stamped flowers on scrap paper, hand cut with my paper snips and adhered with the new Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals. Think I just might need to try that myself.
