Year of Cheer DSP – not just for the holidays !

Well it’s back to work for me today, after seven days off, oh that alarm clock – I surely did not miss it!

Do you like the Year of Cheer Specialty Designer Series Paper in the holiday catalog?  This paper is not just for holidays, it perfect for any occasion.  I’ve made two clean and simple cards with only four products (not counting the Big Shot, trimmer & glue).

  • Year of Cheer Designer Series Paper (DSP)
  • Thick Whisper White Card stock (base)
  • Basic Black (mat & die cut)
  • Happy Birthday Thinlit

While I used the Happy Birthday Thinlit, why not a framelit and stamped greeting (even heat embossed), perfect for a wedding, sympathy, thank you or even thinking of you.  These cards are quick and easy to make, while I used DSP cut to 4″ x 5.25″ or 6 pieces per sheet, if using a framelit and stamped image, you may be able to cut the DSP at 3″ x 4″ for 12 pieces per sheet.

Here is a close up of the Black & Gold card, perfect for a Pittsburgh Sports lover.

Close up of the cascading leaves card, such an elegant paper.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try card making.

Theme Challenge for PCC269 – Very Vintage

Well November sure has been a rather busy month for me. As someone who works in finance the first week and a half is always busy every month, but this month I attended the Stampin’ Up On Stage 2017 in Salt Lake City, came back home for about 24 hours and out again for a four day business trip, which included late nights. It was so nice to be back home this week, I took a few days to just rest and now I’m back in the groove!

Due to my travel schedule I was not able to participate in the past two Paper Craft Crew challenges, I’m back this week for the Theme Challenge – Very Vintage. Since we are in the holiday season, I decided on a Christmas card and when I thought of vintage Christmas – a silver tree and distressed musical paper came to mind. The banner is below, click on it to check out the Paper Craft Crew blog.

For my card I started with a piece of Merry Music Designer Series Paper hand torn into a piece a little smaller than 4″ x 5 ¼”, stamped around the edges in Crumb Cake using a stamp from Timeless Textures, stamped the ornaments from Carols of Christmas in Cherry Cobbler on the top edge and using sponge daubers added Crumb Cake around the edges for a distressed look. Next using sponge brayers added Crumb Cake and So Saffron to the paper, then crinkled the paper in my hand for a more distressed look, added liquid glue to a piece of Cherry Cobbler and gently adhered the Merry Music paper. A piece of Very Vanilla Lace Trim was added about 1″ up from the bottom.  On Whisper White card stock used Versamark ink and stamped the evergreen tree from Lovely as a Tree, sprinkled with Silver Embossing powder and heat set then using Paper Snips cut it out and added a little Crumb Cake with a sponge dauber, adhered to card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Die cut a few deer in Early Espresso from the Card Front Builder Thinlits (Carol Of Christmas Bundle includes stamp set with matching Thinlits) to add around the tree. To finish the card I adhered the Cherry Cobbler base to Crumb Cake card base, added a Lace Trim box, pearls and greeting in Cherry Cobbler from Cookie Cutter Christmas.

Happy Thanksgiving!

Each year on the fourth Thursday in November, Americans gather for a day of feasting, football and family. While today’s Thanksgiving celebrations would likely be unrecognizable to attendees of the original 1621 harvest meal, it continues to be a day for Americans to come together around the table.

I’ll be making a meal of roasted turkey, homemade stuffing, dumplings & gravy, cranberry sauce, buttered carrots, creamed corn, mashed potatoes and pumpkin pie with whipped cream with enough for leftovers (which are always good!). We will watch the parade, football and some Hallmark movies in the evening.

Today I thought I would share a simple card made from ‘fussy’ cutting out some of the pumpkins from the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper and greeting from Paisleys & Posies stamp set.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Coloring with Stampin’ Blends

Today I thought I would share a card with you colored with the new Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers.

When using these markers, you should stamp your image using Memento Black ink pad and make sure that the image is dry before starting to color.

Birthday Blooms is one of my favorite stamp sets and is perfect for coloring. I used Bermuda Bay on the main flower and Pink Pirouette & Calypso Coral for the smaller flowers. Leaves are in Old Olive. For all colors I used both the light and dark markers. Since I used Pink Pirouette on the flower I decided to accent with Rich Razzleberry.  The mat for the card is Merry Little Christmas Designer series paper on Basic Black card stock, then the stamped image is matted on Basic Black with a Rich Razzleberry ribbon accent.  I decided on the ‘Dear Friend’ stamp for the outside and ‘Happiest of Birthdays to you”.

How about some coloring?

Sudsol Swap & Gift Exchange at On Stage 2017

Today, On Stage 2017 here is Salt Lake City came to an end. It was nice to see old friends and make new ones!

Yesterday at lunch one of the demonstrator groups I’m part of SUDSOL – Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing OnLine had a swap which I participated in. Today I thought I would share the card with you.

My card starts with a piece of Whisper White cardstock that was run through the Big Shot using one of the Celebration Duo Textured Impressions Embossing folder. Next using the So Many Shells Photopolymer Stamp set – shells where stamped in Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Smoky Slate.  ‘Birthday to You!’ is from Happy Celebrations Photopolymer Stamp Set.

Next I adhered the Whisper White card stock to a Calypso Coral card stock mat and spritz with a Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write Marker finally tied a piece of 1/8″ Calypso Coral Sheer Ribbon around.  The Calypso Coral is backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered to a Bermuda Bay card front.  Finishing touches are three Rhinestone Jewels – each a different size.

I also participated in a gift exchange with a few of the members, here is the gift I made, it’s a stationary set with cards, 3″ x 3″ gift cards and tags.  There is a post it note pad, stamps and matching pen included.  The lid holds everything together.

Swap in your PJ’s at the Hilton!

Yesterday, November 9th was the first day of Stampin’ Up! On Stage 2017 in Salt Lake City, UT.  I wish I could share some of the great new products, but for now I am sworn to secrecy.

Last night I participated in “Swap in Your PJs at the Hilton”, hosted by Laura & Barbara – who did a great job, the swap was a lot of fun. Today I thought I would share with you the card I made.  It starts with a base of Berry Burst with a map of Lemon Lime Twist that I spread with Embossing Paste using one of the Decorative Masks.  Since the embossing paste is white, I decided to color it using Berry Burst ink refill and add some Dazzling Diamond Glitter for sparkle.

Other accents on the card include a Banner from Naturally Eclectic Designer Series Paper, Whisper White Stitched Shape Square, Night of Navy die and flower from the Oh So Eclectic Bundle, used the Leaf Punch with Emerald Envy and Painted Harvest stamp set. Happy Birthday is from Thoughtful Banners stamp set and punched out with the Classic Label Punch. Finish touches include Berry Burst Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon & Clear Faceted Gem.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Stampy Wackers Dinner & Swap

Hello there from Salt Lake City, Utah!

Today, November 9th Stampin’ Up! On Stage Live! starts. Last night I had dinner with a group of demonstrators I’m part of called “Stampy Wackers”.  We meet at Squatter’s Pub for drinks, dinner and friendship. For those of us interested we swap card/project.

For my card I kept it simple:

  • 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ piece of 2017-2019 In-Color card stock, used the Starburst punch and punched out the Starburst
  • 3″ x 4″ piece of Fresh Floral Designer Series Paper, matching the card stock
  • 2″ Whisper White circle with Happy Birthday from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Stamp set
  • Stampin’ Dimensionals adhere the Starburst with Whisper White circle
  • Punch 4 Vellum cardstock leafs, adhered with liquid glue in the top right & bottom left of the circle

These are easy cards to make using any designer series paper – but a set of 5 of these with matching envelopes makes the perfect gift (hint for some easy Christmas/anytime gifts).

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

PCC266 Sketch Challenge

Sometime I wonder just were did the weekend go?  Saturday was spent doing laundry and making sure I have everything needed  for my trip to Salt Lake City for On Stage Live on Wednesday. When I get back from that trip I’m home for about 24 hours before I leave on a business trip f so I need to make sure my clothes are ready for both trips. Sunday was spent working and doing chores around the house including making the card for todays post.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge PCC266. Below is the banner for the card, maybe you want to play along, check out their blog my clicking on the banner.

For my card I knew I wanted to punch out a border with the Decorative Ribbon Border punch, so I started with a piece of Merry Little Christmas Designer Series Paper and punched a Basic Black ribbon which I adhered with Tear & Tape, this piece was then adhered directly to a Crumb Cake card base. The next layer starts with a piece of Tear & Tape about 1″ up from the bottom of the card I added Basic Black Shimmering Ribbon to. Greeting is stamped in Old Olive on a Whisper White Circle Stitched Shape Framelit die cut layered on the label from Rose Garden Thinlits and a Copper Foil banner, which was adhered to the card with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the May Flower Thinlits and Copper foil for some of the embellishments and Eclectic Layers Thinlits leaves die for Old Olive leaves. The finishing touch is Black Rhinestones.

Stay tuned for posts this week featuring cards I’ve made for swap I’m participating in while at On Stage 2017.

7th Sunday of Christmas – Craft Gifts

Welcome to the 7th Sunday of Christmas 2017 featuring Craft Projects.  For all my projects I’ve used Holiday paper, but these items are good anytime of the year.

First are note pads with pens – the one on the left has a pen you can open and add designer series paper, other uses your basic pen.  All you need to do is alter sizes to fit the note pad and pen of your choice.

Ever hear of Snowman soup? What is Snowman soup you say? It’s 3 easy ingredients – Instant Hot Chocolate Mix, small bag of Mini Marshmallows and a piece of Mint Candy (or mini candy cane – which were not available at the time I’m preparing this post).

Here we have on the left a Treat Tube filled with Holiday candy, decorated front and note to the recipient on the inside. On the right I’ve adjusted the measurements a little and turned it into a note it note holder, with pen. Either of these are perfect stocking stuffers or gifts for co-workers.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Stampin’ Blends available today!

Say hello to a new world of colorful creativity! Meet Stampin’ Blends, artist-quality alcohol markers in 12 exclusive Stampin’ Up! colors. To cover all the blending bases, we’re also offering a limited-time 16-card project kit and stamp set with beautiful line-art images.

Add just the right amount of color where you need it with the brush tip or fine-point.

  • Each color (except Ivory and Bronze) has a light and dark shade marker, available individually or in a combo pack.
  • Stampin’ Up! completed in-house testing for evaporation and life testing and are really happy with the results.
  • Press fit seal prevents air from entering the barrel and causing evaporation.
  • The nestable lids are easy to keep track of and have a tight fit for long-lasting color.
Here are cards from the Color Me Happy Kit I colored using the new Blends, I love how the colors blend.

Why are Stampin’ Blends not packaged together as a collection?

  • Because all the Stampin’ Blends markers are sold singly—and because the marker offering will continue to grow with future publications (which means the offering will continually change)—Stampin’ Blends are not packaged as a “collection” or discounted when you purchase all of them. In fact, the initial collection item number was only created for ease of ordering— to avoid entering numerous item numbers to order every Stampin’ Blend currently available.
  • By packaging them as singles, you can order the exact markers you want in the quantities you want.

Why are Stampin’ Blends not refillable?

  • To provide a low-cost, high-quality marker that could easily and economically be replaced without having to worry about purchasing ink refills or nib replacements. And again, by offering them singly, you can purchase individual replacements, as needed.
