Magnolia Lane Cards and Box for Diane

Hello, as a surprise for my sister-in-law Diane, I brought her a handmade box filled with four cards, with stamped envelopes, featuring products from the Magnolia Lane Suite.

Here is a close up of the front of the box with a Magnolia die cut colored with Stampin’ Blends.

The first card uses a piece of designer series paper as the base for the card and a Memories & More card on the front.

Here is the second card which is a Double Flap card (two cards in one) with a flap and ribbon tie to hold it together.

Here is an inside view of the card.

For this card the Subtle 3D Embossing folder adds nice texture to the mat and Layering Circle Dies are used for the focal stamped image.

The final card is make with one piece of designer series paper  and called a Double Pocket card with tags.

Look for instructions for these types of cards in future Christmas in “Month Name” projects.

Sailing Away Tag Card

Happy Saturday, as you read this I will be in Wildwood NJ so this is the perfect card for me to share. It’s a “Tag Card” made with products from the Come Sail Away Suite from the annual catalog. Below is a picture of the front of card featuring some of the Smooth Sailing Dies, along with various card stock and Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper.

Here is what the inside of the card looks like, stamped images are from the Sailing Home Cling Mount Stamp Set, which comes as a bundle with the coordinating dies. Night of Navy/Sahara Sand Bakers Twine was used in all four tags, for a few, I separated the strands using the paper piercing end of my Take Your Pick Tool to have only one color.

Click Tag Card for a downloadable project sheet on how to make this card.  The 1/16″ hand held circle punch used for the inside of the hole’s is currently on the Clearance Rack – item 134363 for $5.40, a savings of $3.60.

Christmas in July !

Merry Christmas in July !

Today starts my monthly series of Christmas projects the 25th of each month leading up to Christmas 2019.

This month I am featuring the Merry Christmas to All Photopolymer Stamp set and matching Merry Christmas Dies. With this 28 piece stamp set you can say Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, Season’s Greetings, Happy Christmas, Merry & Bright, and much more to family and friends, think of all the possibilities!  The Merry Christmas Dies include 4 words and 2 tags.

The first card features one the greetings, that can be used both outside and inside of any holiday card. I’ve paired it with the Buffalo Check and Floral Essence Bundle for the flower at the bottom left – what flower dies or punches do you have that can be used. Using the Stamparatus really made stamping the Buffalo Check background easy.

Next I’ve teamed up some Come Sail Away Designer Series Paper with Cherry Cobbler and a linen bow. To easily apply the die, I used a piece of sponge and liquid glue on the back of the die.

Here is the inside of the card.

Next Pretty Peacock is teamed with the Tufted 3D Embossing folder and Silver Foil.

And finally I’ve used the Beautiful Friendship Photopolymer stamp set teamed up with some sparkle for some lovely simple holiday cards.

Here I am using Real Red & Shaded Spruce with Red Rhinestones.

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

Purchase the stamp set between now and August 24th and I’ll send you a package of Red Rhinestones as a thank you, add the matching dies and I’ll include Metallic Pearls as well as a personal thank you for your purchase.

Fixing a boo boo

Yesterday I shared with you the cards my Sunday Stampers made and today I thought I would share with you the card with a boo-boo that I fixed. If my stampers can’t make the monthly meeting and place an order, I’m happy to make a set of cards for them.

While working the card and stamping all the images I did not realize ink was on the edge of the acrylic block and stamped a line of ink on the front – but you don’t see it do you?

It’s under the greeting “Birthdays are the best days”, here is what I did to “fix” it:

  • Die cut a Stitched Nested Label Die using Vellum Card stock
  • Die cut a smaller Stitched Nested Label Die using Whisper White and stamped the greeting
  • Add the card stock to the vellum, then the vellum to the card – covering – the boo-boo and cutting the excess of the die off
  • Layering the stamped image on Seaside Spray card stock
  • Blueberry Bushel Card stock base

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

PCC344 – CASE the Design Team

Happy Saturday!  How’s the weather where you are? It’s going to be over 100° once you factor in the humidity today for us, perfect for pool time and getting my vacation manicure and fancy spa pedicure.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew CASE the Design Team Challenge. For my card I decide to case the card here, created by Terri Walker. I’ve just received the Garden Lane Designer Series Paper and thought this card by Terri would be perfect.

Here is how I put my card together:

  1. Card base is Whisper White card stock 4.25″ x 11″ scored at 5.5″ for a top folding card

  3. Strip of designer paper 2″ x 5.5″, matted on Garden Green 2 1/8″ x 5.5″

Friend Like You – 2 more!

The other day I showed you a watercolor card using the Friend Like You Bundle – here are a couple more designs.

The first card is a CASE (copy and share everything) from the 2019-2020 Annual catalog.  The card base, mat and ink used for stamping on the map is all Coastal Cabana – some images are full strength ink, others are 2nd generation stamping, using 2nd generation you achieve a nice level of depth with the images.

Other products used on the card are the Decorative Ribbon Border punch with Mango Melody card stock, strip of Granny Apple Green and the Detailed Trio Punch. I’ve found for me at least, it’s easier to add a border punch out using Tear N Tape adhesive, here I added it to the Granny Apple Green then added the Mango Melody punch out.

For the second card today I’m using the Palm tree die, which I’ve cut out of Basic Black card stock and layered on Pineapple Punch card stock. I used the Stamparatus to stamp Happy Day in case I needed to re-stamp to make sure I got a good clear dark image.  Think of the possibilities with this design, sponge color behind the image, change up the card stock or use any color you desire!

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

Friend Like You Watercolor Version

When my Sunday Stampers meet this month one of the bundles we will be using is the new Friend Like You. The Friend Like You Bundle includes the Friend Like You Photopolymer stamp set and the Friendly Silhouettes Dies. The 14 piece stamp set includes palm trees, dragonflies and reeds – you can create tranquil lakeside scenes. The Friendly Silhouette Dies include 4 dies, includes palm tree and some floral images.

Here is how I created this card which started with a piece of Watercolor Paper cut 4″ x 5.25″.  Using my Aqua Painter and ink pads I added color to the water color paper. I like to tap a clear block into the ink pad and use that to add color to my Aqua Painter for painting on the paper. For the back ground I worked from the bottom up – Granny Apple Green, Balmy Blue, Mango Melody, So Saffron & Petal Pink, once dry I went over with a Clear Wink of Stella pen for subtle sparkle. Next is the image I did cut using Basic Black card stock, adhered with liquid glue and cut off any excess on the sides. Dragonflies and greeting where stamped using Memento Black using the Stamparatus.

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

First Frost for Designer’s Choice – PCC343

Hi there, hope your weekend is off to a good start. As I start to write this post knowing what I want to say, I can close my eyes and picture my brother rolling his.

Not sure about you, but I’m enjoying watching all the Christmas in July movies right now, even though I seen them numerous time. Watching all these movies gave me inspiration for my card today and since it’s a Designer’s Choice challenge – thought why not make 2 cards – a Christmas theme one and Summer themed one!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge – Designer’s Choice, you can check out their blog here.

My first post sharing a Christmas card in 2019 and I’m using the First Frost stamp set and coordinating Frosted Bouquet Dies. The card base & sentiment stamping in Mossy Meadow, with mats of Copper Foil Sheets.  The main stamped images are in Merry Merlot and I’ve added some die cuts in Copper Foil and Rhinestones for added holiday bling.  The box is using twine from the Magnolia Lane Ribbon Combo pack and adhered with a rolled up Mini Glue Dot.

For the inside of the holiday version of the card I’ve stamped the tall greenery in Mossy Meadow and stamped a few Merry Merlot roses along with the sentiment ‘Wishing you all the best’ near the top.

For this version of the card, since a designer’s choice – I’ve used the bright & cheerful colors Pineapple Punch, Granny Apple Green & Mango Melody. The card base was stamped tone on tone for added interest on this card. The main stamped images are Mango Melody and Pineapple Punch Grosgrain Ribbon and some enamel dots add just the right amount of bling. This would make a great card to send someone in the warm months to let them know you are thinking of them.

For the inside I’ve stamped the two roses at the bottom left corner with Mango Melody for added interest.

So now the question is, what card should I post on the Paper Craft Crew blog page?

Pretty Peacock for FabFri167

Happy Friday!  Any special plans this weekend? I have a picnic with the 76er’s which is group of classmates from North Hills High School Class of 1976. Each month we meet the last Wednesday for dinner, it’s a great way to make new “old” friends. Each summer we have picnic for anyone that wants to attending, I’ll be taking a gift basket for the raffle which includes twenty-five handmade cards.

Today’s card is for the FabFri167 challenge, which you can check out here.

Here’s how I put my card together. I decided on using the combination of the 2019-2021 In-Color Pretty Peacock and the To A Wild Rose Bundle.

  • 2019-2021 In-Color Designer Series Paper (DSP)- one piece 4″ x 5¼” and another 2″ x 5¼”
  • 2″ wide piece of DSP as a strip of Whisper White punched with the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch adhered before it was added

My Favorite Bundle, what is yours?

One of my favorite bundles from the new 2019-2020 Annual Catalog is To A Wild Rose. The bundles includes the To A Wild Rose Photopolymer Stamp Set and the Wild Rose Dies. The stamp set has a stunning 3-step photorealistic rose to make your friends speechless. This set was inspired by Million Sales Achiever Mary Ellen Byler. There are 13 stamps in the set and 8 dies in the Wild Rose Dies.

Here is a picture of the bundle:

For my first card, I used Crushed Curry card stock and ink for the rose, which is on a base of Soft Suede card stock.  When stamping the rose, I find it easiest to stamp the outline then the insides, also you might want to put a tiny dot on the stamp with a permanent marker so all three stamps line up easily, this flower only uses 2 stamps. Sentiment is stamped on the label die which is included and can be used with so many other stamp sets. Leaf’s are in Shaded Spruce, stamped in Memento Black and die cut with matching die. Once the card was put together, I spritzed it with a mixture of Frost White Shimmer paint mixed with Rubbing Alcohol, from your favorite box store, in a Stampin’ Spritzer.

For this card I started with a Crumb Cake card base that I stamped with an image from the Pop of Petals stamp set.  Hello is from To A Wild Rose in Early Espresso ink.  In the center is a Basic Black Layering Square die, layered with a Whisper White Stitched Shapes Die cut. The rose was first stamped in Memento Black ink then Melon Mambo, die cut and adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Leaf’s are in Garden Green and adhered directly to the card base.

Bright & Cheerful

Hello there, hope you all had a nice weekend.  It was a rather weekend here in Western PA,  we did have some times of sunshine, but when it rained it rained. Below is the creek behind our house, normally you can’t see the water from the pool deck, but late Saturday after a storm the water was extremely high and moving very fast, luckily no yards where damaged in our neighborhood, but it will take our yard a few days to dry up!

Today I’m sharing a bright and cheerful card, the total opposite of all this rain. My card is using the Beautiful Friendship Photopolymer stamp set along with the colors Poppy Parade, Shaded Spruce & Pineapple Punch. To make the card I first stamped the Poppy Parade flowers in the bottom right corner, then added the Shaded Spruce leaf’s. Pineapple Punch was used with the one flower stamp to fill in spots until I was happy with the way it looked. Next I stamped the greeting and added three Pineapple Punch dots from the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dot embellishments. Don’t this card just put a smile on your face?

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

One design Two ways!

Happy Saturday, hopefully you where lucky and able to take Friday as a vacation day after July 4th so your in the middle of a 4 day vacation, unfortunately for us in the accounting field with our day jobs it’s month-end/quarter-end close and I worked yesterday.  I did however enjoy down time on July 4th, including pool time twice, once in the morning and again in the afternoon. Funny how floating in the pool gave me some card idea’s I worked on that night before fireworks!

Today I am showing you two cards using the same design, but two different ways,  For this design, made on Whisper White card stock all you need are a few simple products:

  • Whisper White Card stock
  • Stamp set of your choice
  • Die’s or Punches for your greeting
  • Ink Pad
  • Foil Sheet, Glimmer Sheet or Card stock as an accent

I’ve masked, or hidden part of the card front and stamped the images. Next I added a 1/4″ strip of foil, for the card below I added Pretty Peacock1/2″ Scalloped Linen Ribbon and added Copper Foil down the center.  The stamp sets for this card is Pop of Petals and Seaside Notions, for the greeting, which is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

For this card I decided on the Sailing Hone stamp set, part of the Sailing Home Bundle, which includes matching dies, Night of Navy Ink and Silver Foil as the accent color. Instead of masking an area vertically, I did it at an angle. Greeting is stamped on a 2″ Whisper White circle on a 2¼” Silver Foil circle.

This is an easy layout that would be easy to mass produce.

Don’t forget about July Bonus Days, $5 coupon from Stampin’ Up! to use in August with every $50 purchase in July. More details here.

Tic-Tac-Toe for PCC342

Happy Wednesday, have way through the week! Any special plans for July 4th?  I will be spending the day resting and swimming, I have to work Friday so I’ll enjoy the down time.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew challenge PCC342, a Tic-Tac-Toe Challenge, check out their blog here.   For my card I decided on a simplistic card using the list of items straight down the middle:

  • Die Cut Element
  • Favorite Color
  • Floral

For my card I decided on one of my favorite bundles from the catalog, To A Wild Rose which covers both the floral and die cut element of the challenge. One of my all time favorite Stampin’ Up! colors is Bermuda Bay – so that’s the color for the card base, flower and greeting. Since the stamp set is photopolymer it makes it’s easy to line up the images, flower is 3 step stamping, leaf’s are two step and the greeting is two separate stamps. When stamping the flower, I stamped the outline first using full strength ink, 2nd layer is also full strength ink followed by the 3rd image which was stamped first on scrap paper then on image. Once I stamped the flower and leaf’s I die cut them out. The flower is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the leaf’s are direct on the card front. The finishing touch are three rhinestones from the Noble Peacock Rhinestones.
