Have you ever thought of using designer series paper for your card base?

The first card starts with a base 5½” x 8½”, scored at 4¼”.
The inside piece is 4″ x 11″ scored at 2¾” from each side and in the middle at 5½”, I’ve added Basic White card stock 4″ x 5¼” for added stability.
To make the card a gift card holder cut away a triangle of the right side and only adhere three sides.
For the card below I’ve used the Paper Blooms 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper from the Sale-a-bration catalog, a $50 free item.
For this card, I’ve started with a piece of designer series paper 4¼” x 11″ piece of designer series paper for the card base, scored and 5½” then cut off 2¾” from one end and use to create the horizontal piece on the front.
Have another piece of 4¼” x 11″ piece of designer series paper? Use that for the card base, scored at 2¾” and 5½” and another piece 3″ x 9¾”, scored at 4¼” and 7″ for the inside Z-fold.
