Spooky card with wood grain

Thanks

Hello SIP#20

So how was your Thursday, mine was just fine, a few meetings at work then a roasted chicken with glazed carrots for dinner, yum! After work today we plan on adding a few Halloween lights to the front yard in preparation for Halloween. We normally get about 75 kids, since its Saturday this year have a feeling we may just get more.

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #20, a color challenge, banner below. It took a little brain power to decide what to do, then I remembered I had some retired Early Espresso embossing powder and decided on a floral wreath with gold accents.

SIP-Color-Challenge-20-800

Let me first say the front of the card is Early Espresso, for some reason no matter how many photo’s I took, none just seemed to make it look right. To make my card I started with a card base of Sahara Sand 4.25″ x 11″ scored and folded at 5.5″ for a top folding card. After heat embossing and punching out 12 flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set I was ready to create the wreath. To create the wreath, using cardstock I punch out a 2″ circle, then using the 2 1/2″ circle punch centered over the circle opening, punched and had myself a perfect thin circle to use as a base. Six of the flowers were spaced out and glued to the circle, the other six were backed with dimensionals and put in the open spaces. Using a base makes it much easier to end up with a circle shaped wreath. Any two shaped punches or framelits could be used to create a base.

Next, I ran a piece of Early Espresso through the Big Shot using the Woodgrain embossing folder, touch the cardstock lightly with Versamark, sprinkled with Clear embossing powder and heat set for a little dimension, adhered to the card base with some fun foam. Once I adhered the wreath with dimensionals I added a gold bow with a pearl in the center. ‘Hello’ is from the Hello You Thinlits Dies and adhered with some liquid glue, a pearl in the top of the ‘o’. This card could be used for almost any occasion based on the sentiment added to the inside.

Celebrate MOJO421

Happy Wednesday, have way through the week and three more day’s until Halloween. Tonight I made a Halloween Fun Funfetti cake, it’s white inside with Black & Orange sprinkles, orange icing and sprinkles on top.

Today’s card is for the MOJO Monday weekly challenge, it’s a Tall & Skinny card which measures  3.5″ x 11″ – scored at 5.5″ for a top folding card that fits into a normal whisper white medium envelope.

Mojo421

To get started on my card I used a piece of Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper and the Wonderful Wreath Framelits to die cut a wreath and added a red glimmer bow from the same framelit set.  The card base is made with the new Whisper White Thick cardstock with a mat created using the Stylish Stripes Embossing folder and a piece of Whisper White card stock, adhered to the card base with dimensionals. In the upper right corner is a piece of Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper matted on a piece of Mossy Meadow and adhered with liquid glue. There is a piece of red glimmer down the center with an angle cut on one end. The wreath is adhered with dimensionals on top. I used the word ‘Celebrate’ is adhered with a little Crystal Effects and more Crystal Effects on top so that when it dries it looks shiny. Inside I will most likely add a holiday sentiment or even a Happy Birthday, is a cool glimmer card!

Washi tape and a Flower for CYCI#92

Brrrr, it’s cold outside. Happy Monday, hope you all had a great weekend. It’s another cold morning here, I needed to turn the furnace on, hope I will only need it on for a few hours this morning.

Today’s card is for the Can You Case It weekly challenge, this week is a sketch challenge. I’d been looking at my washi tape this past weekend and decided when I saw this sketch I could use the washi tape to make a background mat to use as the square on the card. Don’t forget to check out their blog.

CYCI92-232x300

To make my card I started with the Cherry on Top Washi tape – covered a piece of Whisper White, cut it to size and matted with Whisper White and Cucumber Crush. This piece was then adhered to paper from the Cherry on Top Paper Stack matted with Cucumber Crush as well, then adhered to a Whisper White card base. The focal image for the card is a flower made with the Festive Flower Builder Punch using Crushed Curry card stock and ink for the petal veins. Delightful Dijon and a sponge dauber added extra color to the petals. The center of the flower is Bermuda Bay card stock with a medium Metal Rimmed Pearl in the center.  Sentiment is from Something to Say stamp set in Cucumber Crush.

Tree Leaves for PCCCS167

It’s amazing how fast the weekend seems to go when your busy. Hard to believe it’s almost Sunday night, looking forward to kicking back and watching the Hallmark Good Witch Halloween movie I taped Saturday night, might even have some popcorn with it!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge Sketch weekly challenge, which just happens to be a color challenge. Don’t forget to check out their blog.

The view from my sun porch was the inspiration for my card, thought you might like to see it.  Looking out I can see numerous trees with all different colors of leaves in the Daffodil Delight – Cajun Craze – Pumpkin Pie – Wild Wasabi color palette. Made me think of the Sheltering Tree stamp set and a card was born.

trees in woods

To make my card I used Early Espresso ink to stamp the tree from the Sheltering Tree Photopolymer Stamp set, next came the leaves in the colors of the challenge, light to dark, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie and Cajun Craze. At the base of the tree is Wild Wasabi with a little Cajun Craze mixed in. The greeting ‘Happy Birthday’ comes from the Guy Greetings stamp set and is stamped in Early Espresso. There even is a swing hanging from a branch. All of this is on Whisper White, matted on Cajun Craze & Daffodil Delight – the card base is Wild Wasabi.  For a little sparkle, I put a dot of Dazzling Details with a drop of Pumpkin Pie ink refill, mixed it up and used by finger to dab it on different spots of the tree.

Lovely as a Tree – FMS209

Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend. I’m sitting out on the closed in sun porch and it’s not so sunny, the rain has started and I can feel a cool breeze. The breeze is ok because I can also smell the big pot of homemade spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove. With rain in the forecast thought it would be a great day for homemade spaghetti, salad and garlic bread, might even open a bottle of wine to enjoy. Now on to some card making.

Today’s card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge, check you their blog here. I love the clean simple design of this card, so many options to pick from, what should I choose?

FMS Final 209-001

For my card I decided to break out one of the most famous Stampin Up stamp sets – Lovely as a Tree, a most have in every craft room. The evergreen tree from the set is Silver heat embossed on Whisper White and the word Christmas is from the Holly Jolly Greeting stamp set. The Whisper White piece has a mat of Basic Black for a classic, elegant design, dimensionals back this piece before attaching to the card base. The base of my card is a piece of Whisper White paper cut at 4.25″ x 11″ and folded at 5.5″ for a top folding card.  I decided on Real Red to die cut the word Merry from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits and adhere with some liquid glue. The Holly Jolly Greeting stamp set and Christmas Greeting Thinlits can be purchased together as a bundle for 15% off.  To finish off the card, I added some rhinestones randomly for the holiday glitz on the card.

Happy Wednesday, did you place your order yet for your wish list stamps? There is only three days left of the 15% off sale (not including bundles, rotary or clearance sets), might want to do some shopping today.

The design for today’s card is a classic that can be used with a variety of punches and sentiments, great way to use some of that Designer Series Paper I just know you have sitting around wondering what to do with it.

To make my card I started with a base of Whisper White matted with Early Espresso Cardstock and a piece of paper from the Into the Woods Designer Series Paper Pack. Next is a mat of Mossy Meadow with Whisper White on top, this layer is backed with dimensionals. Used Mossy Meadow to punch out an Acorn which was also adhered with dimensionals. To add some glitz I punched out the top of the Acorn with Dazzling Diamond Glimmer Paper then using a Sponge Dauber gently dabbed on some Early Espresso to color it slightly and adhered with some liquid glue. Used a sentiment from the Acorny Thank you stamp set and die cut it out using a Washi tape looking die from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlit Dies. Inside of the card says Happy Birthday and was sent off to a friend!

Merry & Bright PCCCS#166

So how’s the weather in your neck of the woods? It’s getting cold here, we might even have our first frost tonight and see a snowflake or two, something I am just not ready for. I’ve even had to break out my closed in shoes vs. wearing my flip flops or sandals.  I had a great Friday working on numerous projects and making a great dinner (corn casserole with barbeque chicken, followed by homemade apple pie). Now on to card making . . .

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch. I’d like to say thanks to the Design Team over at Paper Craft Crew for picking my card from challenge #164 as a Team pick, you can see that card by clicking here. Below is the banner for this weeks challenge.

PCCCS-162-205-002-300x232

This was a fun card to design, I started by looking at a bunch of scraps I had laying around and slowly piece by piece it all came together. The card base is Crumb Cake with mats of Basic Black and the Music Paper from Home for Christmas Designer Series Paper. Next I stamped the wreath from Wondrous Wreath in Old Olive & Mossy Meadow and used the matching die to cut it out with my Big Shot.  From there I pulled together a scrap of the new Gold Glitter Ribbon using glue to adhere to the card, next the cute deer I had fussy cut out was adhered to a scrap of Real Red and adhered behind the middle of the wreath; the wreath is backed with dimensionals and adhered to the card. In the lower right corner of the wreath is some linen thread behind a Lost Lagoon 1″ circle, on top is a die cut ‘Merry’ from the Christmas Greetings Thinlits dies and the ‘ & Bright’ from the Holly Jolly Greeting stamp set. The stamp set and dies can be purchased as a bundle to save 15%. To finish off the card is a Home for Christmas Designer Button with a linen thread bow, adhered with a glue dot. This is such a cute card to send to someone special!

Shake a little Tide with SIP#18

Happy Friday! It’s a good day for me as I’m on vacation today! I plan to prepare for my Sunday Stampers Group and start working on some holiday cards for some special people. Last night I did another DIY workshop at Home Depot and learned about making a mosaic mirror, it’s given me a few ideas. Now on to some card making . . .

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #18.  As soon as I saw the sketch I knew a shaker card was in order, but what should I do?  After looking through my stamp sets I decided to get out a set I have not used for a while, By the Tide, it reminded me of the long weekend at the shore with my niece and nephew this summer.

SIP-Sketch-Challenge-18-800-791x1024

My card starts with some Watercolor Paper and heat embossing. The shell, fish and seahorse are heat embossed with Black Stampin Embossing powder, while I used White Stampin Embossing powder on the seaweed. Using my Aqua Painter and a little watered down ink (pressed onto the inside lid from the ink pad) I created the background with the seaweed and colored the other items with a variety of colors (Blushing Bride, Daffodil Delight, Pumpkin Pie, Bermuda Bay and Crumb Cake). The shell and seahorse are adhered with glue dots and dimensionals were used on the fish. To create the shaker I cut a piece of fun foam (from the craft store) a little smaller than the Bermuda Bay cardstock and ran them through the Big Shot together using a Circles Collection Framelit.  Next I adhered a piece of Window Sheet to the Bermuda Bay with Fuse Adhesive.

Here is how I layered the card, base of Very Vanilla (4.25″x11″, scored at 5.5″ for a top folding card), piece of Bohemian Designer Series Paper, Watercolor paper with Seaweed and creatures from the sea, fun foam, filled the circle with clear glitter and topped with the Bermuda Bay cover.  The sentiment is from the Boys will be Boys stamp set and adhered with Fuse.

CYCI#90 – Spooky

Happy Wednesday, half way through the week, how’s yours going?

Today’s card is for the Can You Case It weeky challenge, Halloween Edition. I’d like to thank Rochelle for picking my card from challenge 89 as a Design Team Member pick, you can see that original post here, now let’s make a card . . .

CYCI90-300x253

Not only do I have a card for you but a Witches Hat for my pumpkin (made from a few punches and Black Glimmer Paper).  Lets start with the hat, it’s made from 2 tree’s and a 2 1/2″ circle with a Modern Label punch in the center. I  would suggest punching out the label first, then center the circle over it and punch. The trees are attached at the top with a glue dot and their trunks are attached with glue dots to the underside of the circle, entire hat is on a Spider Web Doily with a Bow Builder Bow on top!

The card starts with a Very Vanilla card base and Happy Haunting Designer Series paper, matted on Basic Black and Tangelo Twist. Black Glimmer Paper with a Tangelo Twist “Spooky” glued on top and  a Rich Razzleberry Cotton ribbon bow top off the card.

Boy was that an exciting end to the Monday Night football game last night, Steelers won 24-20 in the final seconds and I won my fantasy game! It’s this first win for the Steelers on the west coast in ten years. Little tired this morning, but a cup of coffee or two and I’ll be feeling better.

Today’s card is for the Fab Friday challenge.

Fab Friday Logos-74

To make my card I started with a base of Rich Razzleberry, with pieces of Bohemian Designer Series Paper matted on Bermuda Bay. The ‘Celebrate’ is from the May 2015 Paper Pumpkin Kit. A Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon bow top of the card! This is a fun card that would be easy to mass produce and use up some of the designer series paper you have sitting around. With Christmas paper you could add a snowflake in place of the bow, fall paper use an Acorn, so many possibilities, just check out your stash!

MOJO419 Black & Gold Christmas

Are you ready for some football? As a Steelers fan I’m ready for some Monday Night Football. It’s gonna be an interesting game, let me explain. I participate in a fantasy football league (I’m 3-1), both myself and my opponent each have a player in the game tonight (both players are Steelers) so while I want the Steelers to win, I sure hope Bell scores all the touchdowns and not Bell.

Now on to tonight’s card which is for the Mojo Monday challenge. When I first saw this design the first thing that popped into my mind was a Black and Gold card, with the Steelers playing tonight and the Pens starting their home season here tomorrow, thought this was the perfect card to make.

Mojo419

The card all starts with a Very Vanilla card base, 4 1/2″ x 11″ – scored at 5 1/2″ with the fold on the left side of the card. Mat is Basic Black and the shapes are made from retired Brushed Gold cardstock (which matching nicely with the Pens gold color) but you could easily use a Gold Foil sheet or any team colors for this card. I used the Circles and Squares Collections Framelits for medium size shapes. Used the piercing tool with an Essentail Template and piercing mat to create the borders on the shapes, which are glued to the card. The sentiment from Reason for the Season is Black heat embossing on the gold cardstock and adhered with dimensionals. Now the card is ready to be sent to any Pittsburgh sports fan to celebrate the holidays!

PCCCS165 – Grateful Heart

It’s Sunday night and I’m sitting down to right this after a busy day. My husband has been wanting Potato pancakes for dinner for awhile and tonight was the night, they were good bet messy to make, atleast for me.  The best part of the meal turned out to be dessert. If you check out Pinterest you may have seen a fall dessert  called “Apple Roses” – super thin slices of apples with butter, cinnamon sugar, raisins (for me only) wrapped in puff pastry and baked in a large size muffin tin. They look like a rose from the top since you leave the red skin on the apple, they were great! Definitely a make again recipe!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch weekly challenge, banner below.  This card was fun to design, I had not used the pumpkin scene stamp of the Happy Scenes set and knew it would be perfect for this.

PCCCS-161-204-002-232x300

To get started I stamped the window images and colored it in with a few Stampin Write Markers. The window frame is Soft Suede, adhered to the stamped image and backed with dimensionals when adhered to the card. The base of the card is using the new Whisper White Thick Cardstock, the mat is Soft Suede (to match the frame) with a piece of paper from the Into the Woods Designer Series Paper. There are three circles (Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight) in the upper right corner and a Gold Foil Doily with a Soft Suede circle in the bottom left corner. There is some Gold Bakers Twine and a Linen thread bow to finish off the card.

SIP 17 Halloween Floral Birthday

Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend. Don’t know about you but its been a busy late night week for me a work. I’ve not had any time to craft this week until this morning, now that I’ve made my card for todays post I feel a little better. I’ve some errands to run and hope to make another card or project today.

Card for today is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge, theme – Floral.  My first thought when I saw the theme was floral was to use the Birthday Blossoms stamp set from Stampin Up as I just love the flowers in the stamp set. Next I decided I wanted to go outside the box and do a floral birthday card for an October birthday using Pumpkin Pie & Black, traditional Halloween colors.

SIP-Theme-17-800-791x1024

To get started on my card I first stamped the pansy flower from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set using Pumpkin Pie ink on Pumpkin Pie card stock and punched them out with the matching punch. Next using Basic Black card stock, Clear Stampin Embossing powder and Versamark Ink, stamped and embossed a few sets of leaves, using my paper snips to hand cut them out. The base of the card is Very Vanilla, with a mat of Basic Black and a piece of designer series paper from the Happy Hauntings pack. First I arranged the flowers and leaves in the left corner then adhered them using liquid glue and dimensionals (one in the corner), sentiment in the upper right is also from the same stamp set and Black heat embossed on the card. As a final touch, I used from Orange Peel stickles from my craft stash for glitz on the flowers. Now this card is ready for a October birthday!

Hockey Season Starts Today!

Hope you week is going well. Tonight is the first night of Pittsburgh Penguin Hockey, which is the inspiration for today’s card.

To make the card using Memento Black and Crushed Curry ink, I stamped a couple penguins and santa hats, as Penguin colors are black & gold. The backdrop for the penguins is a piece of Whisper White that has been run through the Big Shot using the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, layered on a mat of Basic Black on a card base of Crushed Curry. The laser cut wooden snowflake is from the Snowflake Elements set and has a Iced Rhinestone in the center.  I used the sentiment ‘Let it Snow’ as the ice when sprayed by a skate blade is referred to as snow.

Let’s go PENS!

CYCI #89

Happy Monday, welcome to the work week. Hope you had a nice weekend. I made a few cards last night in preparation for this week. Work will include some longer days as it’s month/quarter end close  and I’m in the accounting field.  I wanted to make sure I had a few cards to post this week and it was one of other nights when the idea’s just poured.

Today’s card is for the Can You Case It weekly challenge. Thank you to Elizabeth for choosing my card from challenge #88 as a Design Team Member pick, it was fun adding the Mod Podge to my card for glitz, you can see the original post here.

CYCI89-232x300

To make my card, I started making a flower using the Festive Flower Builder punch in Cherry Cobbler & Mossy Meadow. For the flower you need 8 large petals, 4 smaller petals, 2 double petals and 3 – 1″ circles, use the circles to anchor each row of petals and stack them with dimensionals. The gold glimmer center is anchored with glue dots. Here’s a hint: normally you stamp then punch, but with this punch it’s better to punch then stamp. The background for the flower is Merry Moments Designer Series Paper, cut randomly matted on Cherry Cobbler on a Whisper White card base.  In the lower right corner is a tag with a sentiment from Reason for the Season done with Gold Embossing Powder, a matching gold glimmer flower tops it off.

PCCCS#164 – Snowy Night

It’s Sunday afternoon and I’m enjoying the sunny day here, it surely makes you feel like doing more things. When the weather is cold and damp I just don’t feel like doing much, though I did make some awesome beef vegetable soup, it was so good I did not even need or want noodles with it! Today it’s a meatloaf and homemade mashed potatoes (vs. the bag/box kind).

Now on to todays card which is for the Paper Craft Crew Card sketch.  Thank you to the design team for picking my card for challenge #162 as a “Design Team Top Pick”, I enjoy playing along.  The original team pick blog can be seen here.

PCCCS164-203-Sketch-001-300x300

For my card I started with a Night of Navy card base 5″ x 10″, scored at 5″, for a square card. I used a piece of paper from the Season of Cheer Designer Series Paper as the mat and to stamp the image on using Night of Navy Ink. Santa and the house is from the Cozy Christmas stamp set and that layer has a Silver Foil Doily on the right side. To separate that layer from the base is a real red banner embossed with the Softly Falling Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. In the lower left are three Iced Rhinestone Embellishments and a Very Vanilla banner with the sentiment.

Stamp Ink Paper #16

Happy Saturday, it’s rather cool (low 40’s) and rainy but we are still having our yard sale today, thank goodness we have a carport to hold it under. I’ve actually sold some of the cards I’ve posted on my blog, which sure makes me feel good!

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper challenge “Card Makers Choice” and is inspired by and for all the people that have come out today in this weather to stop our house for the yard sale.

SIP-Any-Challenge-16-800-791x1024

The card has a Marina Mist card based and Whisper White inside. I used a Circle Framelit to create the opening on the front of the card. Inside is an Acorn punch from Gold Foil and Gold Glimmer Paper, the top of the Acorn is backed with a dimensional. The banner – Thankful was stamped in Marina Mist and hand cut out, it also has a dimensional behind it. To finish off the card a piece of Metallic Gold Bakers Twine was wrapped completely around the card and tied off on the front.

Grateful for MOJO417

Happy Friday! Thursday was a  nice sunny day here but on the cooler side, I even had to break out my wooly slippers, my toes were freezing in the house. I’m not a fan of closed in shoes, my knick name in high school was toes since I’ve been known to wear flip flops in the end of winter – outside!

Today’s card is for the Mojo Monday weekly challenge. For the last Monday of the month, they like to add a little twist to the normal A2 sketch. It is tall & skinny week, thanks again to Julee for brining us another super fun sketch!

Mojo417

The highlight of my card is the label feature, created by the Tags & Labels Framelits, Into the Woods Designer Series Paper, Soft Suede Card Stock and an Acorn using the Acorn Builder punch.  There is two rows of Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon wrapped around layers of card stock and designer series paper which are backed with dimensionals for depth. The final accent on the card are three candy dots in the upper right corner.

CYCI#88 Mod Podge Sparkle

Happy Thursday, it’s a nice cool morning here, perfect if you ask me, nothing better than sitting in my favorite chair with the windows opening, a cool breeze and a hot cup of coffee!  Unfortunately we are in for a rainy weekend which is a bummer as my husband has planned a yard sale, hopefully it will all work out ok.

Today’s card is for the Can You Case It weekly challenge, this week’s it’s Designers Choice Edition, how much fun is that.  I’d like to thank Terri for picking my challenge #87 card as a designer team member pick, I enjoy playing along! Don’t forget to check out their blog.

CYCI88-300x251

For my card, I used the Reason for the Season stamp set and did triple layer stamping. The white layers are held together my a tiny piece of adhesive, you stamp your image, separate and mat each layer – my layers have dimensionals behind them for added depth. Once I had the card complete, I just felt it needed something, so I broke out my Mod Podge Sparkle and painted the flowers & leaves. I just love the sparkle, now it’s a Christmas card ! ! !
