Thanksgiving is a national holiday here is the United States, celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. It originated as a harvest festival and has been celebrated nationally on and off since 1789, with a proclamation by George Washington.
Thanksgiving was originally founded as a religious observance for all the members of the community to give thanks for a common purpose. The tradition of giving thanks is continued today in many forms, most notably the attendance of religious services, as well as the saying of a mealtime prayer before Thanksgiving dinner. At home, it is a holiday tradition in many families to begin the Thanksgiving dinner by saying grace, a prayer before or after a meal. At most dinner tables it is also common practice for each person to tell one specific reason they’re thankful that year.
Today we will be having a traditional Thanksgiving dinner: roasted turkey, homemade stuffing, dumplings with gravy, corn, carrots, mashed potatoes, rolls and pumpkin pie for dessert.
I thought I would make a simple card featuring the Country Home stamp set in honor of everything I’m thankful for, including family, friends and our health.
