Winner Winner Spinner Card !

Welcome to the last day of June, getting ready for the long three day holiday weekend? Weather here has been really nice and I’ve even been able to enjoy a few evening swims. Hopefully the nice weather will continue. We have a new grill and plan to smoke some wings and pork butt to go with my famous macaroni salad this weekend.

Today’s card is my first spinner card featuring the Shooting Star Bundle, which includes the Shooting Star stamp set and Sliding Star Framelit Dies. The stamp set comes in either wood or clear mount. This is a really fun set with cool images – bees, beehive, stars, moon and beyond.

To make my card I started with a card base of Daffodil Delight with a mat made from Affectionately Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper. The “spinner” portion is a 4″ x 4″ square with the circle die cut out of the center, there are small pieces of adhesive strips at the corners and on the circle in the middle. To add the bee, are two pennies with a dimensional in the middle (cut the corners off for a circle looking dimensionals) sandwiched in the groove created by the pieces. Beehive is adhered with liquid glue. Sentiment, You’re my sweet honeybee”, is from the stamp set.

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Diane today, hope you have yourself a great day!

Here is a picture of my sister-in-law Diane, Jake, Mike and Maya from Jake’s prom night. Rather good looking family! Funny how Diane and I seem to get better each year as my brother and husband just get older.

Here is the card I’ve made for Diane this year, it features the new Detailed Floral Thinlits . Both thinlits were die cut together on a piece of Emerald Envy and adhered to a Whisper White card base. There is a third die that will let you die cut the edge as well.

Simple Saturday with Layering Love

Welcome to Simple Saturday where each week I feature cards made with one stamp set. Today’s stamp set is Layering Love and it’s available in both wood and clear mount. I’ve made one card with each of the sentiments using the Floral Boutique Designer Series Paper, Night of Navy and Flirty Flamingo card stock. All sentiments were stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Flirty Flamingo ink. While the stamp set coordinates with all the new layering dies, I’ve used Sweet & Sassy, Lots of Labels and the Triple Banner Punch.

Each card starts with a base of Night of Navy, followed by a mat of Flirty Flamingo, layered with designer series paper. Clear Wink of Stella added sparkle to the small hearts and I die cut them from the Flirty Flamingo before adhering the designer series paper, this way the die cut space is hidden and card stock saved!

Jake graduates !

Hard to believe that my nephew Jake graduated from high school last night, seems just like yesterday he was starting school and now he’s 18 and graduating. I’ve very proud of him, he will be attending University of Delaware this fall.

Here is a picture of him from his prom earlier this month with my brother Mike, rather handsome pair, don’t you agree? Check out the photo bomber in the background, that’s his girl friend Kate.

Here is the card I’ve sent him for graduation, it’s a shaker – my favorite to make. Shaker cards are so easy to make now that Stampin Up has the new “Foam Adhesive Strips”, where have these been the last few years? The sequin are from Pretty Pink Posh, my go to online sequin store.

You are my Sunshine !

Hope everyone had a great weekend, I enjoyed my three day weekend and have another one coming at the end of this week. I was able to create some cards and spend time in the pool, two things I love to do! Hope you did something you enjoy as well.

You are my sunshine, my only sunshine you make me happy when skies are gray, you’ll never know dear how much I love you, please don’t take my sunshine away. These are words to a song my Grandmother use to sing to me when I was young and I remember like it was yesterday – this was the inspiration for todays cards.

Today’s cards feature the Sunshine Sayings Bundle – Sunshine Sayings stamp set & Sunshine Wishes Thinlits – done two ways, one with watercolor paper and another with Shimmery White card stock. Remembering the lyrics to the song above made me know I needed to get this bundle.

The card starts with a piece of water color paper and Shimmery White that are painted or stamped with Daffodil Delight, Soft Sky and Pool Party, backed with a Basic Black mat and adhered to the Crumb Cake card base with dimensionals. The Crumb Cake was stamped around the edges for added texture. When adhering both the water color and shimmery white paper remember to make sure completely dry and be generous with adhesive to avoid curling.

This is the watercolor version of the card, using Timeless Textures for the background on the Crumb Cake.

This version of the card uses Gorgeous Grunge for the border and the images are stamped on Shimmery White Cardstock.

Simple Saturday with Bunch of Blossoms

Welcome to Simple Saturday, today I am featuring the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set which comes in a bundle with the Blossoms Builder Punch, so many possibilities with this bundle. Don’t you just love when you have punch that matches your stamp set, saves you from cutting the images out by hand. The bundle saves you 10% over the individual price of each product.

It’s been a rather challenging week as I’m having computer/network issues at home and my wifi is down, repairman is coming next week. I’ve had to go old school using a cable to connect my laptop to connect to the internet and lets just say its a short cable and not convenient for usage. Hopefully I’m back on track with posts soon.

To make my card for today I started with a piece of Smokey Slate for my card base and a mat of Basic Gray, also used the same color for the sentiment on the card. Designer paper is from the A Little Foxy Designer Series Paper Stack, both the mat and designer paper are adhered with liquid glue. The flowers and leaves are three step stamping, meaning you can use three different colors or ink up/stamp off (on scrap paper) then stamp image. You always stamp light to dark. For the flowers I used Peekaboo Peach, Pumpkin Pie and Tangerine Tango. Leaves are Pear Pizzazz, Old Olive and Old Olive for the outline. I chose to stamp the images then used the punch to punch them out. There are four petals for each layer. To finish off the flower are three pearls to match the three leaves used.

There are so many color combo’s and designs to make with this stamp set and punch. I’ll be sharing some other designs with you in the weeks to come.

Love me some pineapples & pink flamingo

Happy Tuesday, hope you are having a great week so far. We are here in Pittsburgh, the Pens won the Stanley Cup Sunday night and we are still enjoying the win! There is even a parade Wednesday!

Today’s card features the stamp set “Pop of Paradise”, which can be found on page 85 of the annual catalog.

To create my card I started with a piece of Whisper White and randomly stamped Delightful Dijon Pineapples all over. This piece was then adhered to Emerald Envy and to a Whisper White card base.

The flamingo was stamped with Flirty Flamingo then using the new “Layering Ovals Framelits” die cut, Emerald Envy was used for the Scalloped Oval Framelit. Mini Striped Ribbon in Delightful Dijon was folded and adhered with glue dots to the left side, entire piece backed with dimensionals and adhered to card. ‘Hello’ circle stamped and punched out with 1 ¼” circle punch, backed with 1 3/8″ Emerald Envy circle, adhered with a dimensional. Clear Wink of Stella brushed on the Flamingo finishes off the card.

Simple Saturday – Sitting here thinking of you . . .

Welcome to Simple Saturday, a card using only one stamp set. Today I took the luxury of using two, one to add background to the card base and one for the main images/greeting. The main stamp set today is “Sitting Here”, one of the first sets I knew I wanted and was happy it was included in the demonstrator preorder in May. This stamp set is perfect for the dog or cat owner or lover out there! The card shown today features Gorgeous Grunge stamped with Flirty Flamingo and Emerald Envy on the card base for a little stepped up version, this is an easy step to eliminate for a nice one stamp set card.

To make my card I started with a card base using the new In-Color Flirty Flamingo. The swing, pillows and sleeping dog are all stamped in Early Espresso. The pillows were colored using Stampin Write Markers and then cut out using paper snips. The round pillow does work with the ¾” circle punch if desired. The dog was also hand cut out. The Mint Macaron pillow and dog are backed with dimensionals for depth. Greeting is stamped in Emerald Envy on a thin strip of Whisper White, adhered to Emerald Envy and cut to size, dimensionals back this as well. You can very easily change out the dog for the cat.

Moroccan Nights with new In Colors

We’ve made it halfway through the week and closer to the weekend. Saturday is my 40th year high school reunion. I’ve made a gift basket with 40 handmade cards as a door prize, I’ll post a picture later in the week.

Today’s post features the new 2016-2018 In-Colors, both card stock and ink along with the Moroccan Nights and Thoughtful Banners stamp sets. Thoughtful Banners comes in a bundle with a matching punch, Duet Banners at a 10% discount. What’s nice about the stamp set is that since it’s photo polymer you can bend the word’s to fit the banners, gotta love that!

Hope you all had a nice weekend, mine would have been better if the Penguins won their game Saturday night, luckily there are four more – need two more wins to bring home the Stanley Cup.

Today’s card features the Love and Affection stamp set. This set is perfect for creating your own designer series paper.

The card starts with a base of Night of Navy, followed by a piece of Affectionately Yours Specialty designer series paper. Next is Watermelon Wonder with a piece of Whisper White stamped with a variety of images from the stamp set in colors matching the Affectionately Yours Specialty designer series paper. Final layer are tags created with the Tags and Labels Framelit die, finishing touch is a linen thread bow adhered with a glue dot. Tag and Watermelon Wonder layers are backed with dimensionals.

Congrats to Kenzi, Jessie and Josh ! ! !

May 2016 was a busy month for my cousin Shari, two of her daughters graduated, Kenzi from Chartiers Valley High School and Jessie from Wittenburg University and her son Josh passed his journeymen’s test and is now a licensed Plumber

Here is a picture of the three sister – Erika, Jessie & Kenzi from Jessie’s graduation earlier in May. Erika and Jessie graduated from Witt and Kenzi will be going there in the fall.

Here is the card I will be giving Kenzi later today, it’s a shaker card made with the Large Number framelits and sequins from my stash.

Cards I made for them to celebrate their great accomplishments! Thought the tools were perfect for Josh and pink/purple are the sorority colors for Jessie. While the designer series paper used in the cards is retired, the stamp set and framelits are in the annual catalog.

My card today features three of the new colors, one of my favorite combinations – Emerald Envy, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.

To make my card I started with a piece of Whisper White and using the Timeless Textures stamp set stamped images using Sweet Sugarplum, followed by Emerald Envy and Peekaboo Peach. This piece was then adhered to a mat of Peekaboo Peach which is backed with dimensionals on a Emerald Envy card base. Using glue dots I attached some linen thread, over laid the thread with a Peekaboo Peach banner, then a Whisper White banner stamped with “Let’s Celebrate” from the Confetti Celebrations Stamp Set. An Emerald Envy butterfly adorned with rhinestones and three in the upper right corner finish off the card.
