FMS155 – Holiday Joy!

Where has the weekend gone, seems like I was just having my Saturday morning coffee and now its time to clean up Sunday dinner dishes.  While both Pittsburgh sports teams did not have a good day today, I on the other hand did  – I put together a new fall wreath for outside our front door.  Thought I would share a picture below.  Now on to designing the new red deco mesh wreath and sway I would like to make for Christmas.

Today’s card is for  Freshly Made Sketches # 155 designed by Karren. It’s a simple sketch featuring a tag, nice thing about a tag is once you make one it can also be used as an embellishment for a card. Here is the sketch.

FMS Final 155-001

I’ve been making a variety of wreaths using the Wonderous Wreath Photopolymer stamp set – this one is using Costal Cabana, Lost Lagoon and Silver Embossing.  I attached the wreath to a Coastal Cabana tag using the Scallop Tag Topper Punch and accented the wreath with the word Joy, cut from silver foil paper.  This tag has been sitting in my craft area for awhile and this sketch was made for using the tag.  I took a piece of Whisper White and created a top folding card, added a piece of paper from the Moonlight Designer Series Paper Pack over the entire front and added a slice of silver foil on the left side.  The tag is attached with Stampin Dimensionals. A silver satin ribbon is the final accent to the card.

Happy Saturday, hope you all have some great plans for the weekend. The weather here will be ‘summer’ like, so a great day to spend some time outside. My husband and I have been discussing how we plan to decorate this holiday season – we love have the Christmas tree up with the lights on in the evening.  We have decided we need floral decoration for above the television, over the next few weeks I will planning and working on that, will share the final project with you.

Here is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #111, one of my favorite challenges to participate in.  This week my card from sketch challenge #109 was picked as a featured artisan, thank you to all who voted for my card. Remember to check out their blog for this weeks cards from their design team and other crafter just like you, who knows you may want to add a card as well!

It took a few days to come up with the idea for my card, but once I knew what I wanted to use as the focal image – a flower from the Flower Patch stamp set, the rest just fell into place.  The card base is Crumb Cake, layered with a mat of Calypso Coral and piece of Park Lane Designer Series Paper.  A piece of vintage Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon divides the designer paper for me. On a piece of Whisper White about 3″x2″ I stamped a background of small dots  in Wild Wasabi using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge and the circles from Kinda Electic in Crumb Cake to add detail.  The flower is three separate stamps from Flower Patch (which has a matching framelit set) in Daffodil Delight, Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral, layered with dimensionals. Butterflies are from the Kinda Electic stamp set. There is a piece of Whisper white covered with Watercolor Wonder Washi tape and centered on the right of the background white for a little interest.  When I set the banner with greeting on the card I did not like how ‘white’ the left of the stamped greeting looked so I used a Gorgeous Grunge stamp to blend that side into the card better. A few candy dots and jewels for bling and a card is born! Great for a birthday or any special event!

Hope you are having a great day. This morning I was checking a few of my favorite blogs while having coffee and when I saw the sketch for the Pals Paper Artist 221 Challenge, I knew I needed to participate.   Over the past few weeks I have been putting together different holiday cards using the Wonderous Wreath stamp set from the 2014 Holiday Catalog and I knew there was a card that looked just like the sketch Nicole Watt designed.  When I see the four squares I think of a window and how perfect it would be with a wreath on it.  Below is the sketch, if you click on it, you will be directed to the Paper Pals Artist blog to see the designs by their team and other crafters.untitled

Here is the card I created.  The card base is Whisper White and for a mat I used a piece of Cherry Cobbler stamped with the Hardwood background stamp in black. For the ‘window’ I used a square piece of Whisper White and used a square punch to punch out the four squares, using a sponge dauber went over the white with a little black for texture.  Wreath is from the Wonderous Wreath stamp set (3 step stamping) which is a photopolymer set for easy line up.  There is a matching framelit set which includes the word Noel – which is cut from Gold foil paper.  Greeting is on Basic Black and heat embossed with gold powder.

Once I saw the sketch I knew what I wanted to do.  The first thing that came to mind was using one of the burlap bags from the September 2014 Paper Pumpkin Kit to create the background for the word bubbles.  I used Old Olive for the card base and used a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set and stamped in Old Olive to create a little interest on the card.  Cut a square from one of the burlap bags and frayed the edges by pulling out a few threads.   Next a used another stamp from Gorgeous Grunge and added subtle color to the burlap.  On a piece of Soft Suede cardstock I heat embossed in Early Espresso using the Hardwood background stamp and used a Word Bubble framelit to die cut. For another Word Bubble used a piece of Color Me Autumn Designer Paper and for the third Word Bubble – greeting from For All Thinks heat embossed on Cajun Craze.  In the sketch there are flowers as accents and for my card I used bows and a gold button.  The bows are using Gold Bakers Twine and other is frays from a piece of burlap ribbon with a Candy Dot in the center.

Happy Birthday Maya!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful niece Maya – Uncle Dan and I hope you have a great day!  Maya loves to craft and I always make sure to include a craft item in her birthday package.  She received her card early and loved it, hope you do as well!   Here is a picture of Maya from the first day of school this September.

maya sept 2014 first day school edit

Here is the card I sent Maya for her birthday, her favorite colors are blue and purple and thought this was the perfect card.  For some reason I am hooked on ‘wreath on door’ cards and this design popped into my head.  Let me first start my telling you how I made the wreath, the secret is a “wreath frame” – two circle framelits die cut together to form a frame – once you have this its easy to make sure your finished project will look more like a wreath, the first coupleI tried  looked more  like eggs until I tried this.  At the bottom is a post of what the frame looks like before all the flowers are added.  Keep in mind, any shape will work – think I might try a square next.  The card base and mat are Sahara Sand, and the mat is stamped in Sahara Sand with Hardwood stamp.  Also stamped a matching banner for added depth.  There is a tea lace paper doily between the layer with Stampin dimensionals under the banner.   The flowers on the wreath are stamped/punched from the Petite Petals Stamp set in Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant, Pacific Point and Pool Party – Pearls complete the look.  The banner is Elegant Eggplant on Pool Party.

FMS154 – Happy Birthday!

Hi there, hope you are having a good week.  I’ve been busy, last night my husband & I went to the Pittsburgh Pirate vs. Boston Red Sox baseball game, boy was it a good one. Pirates hit 3 homeruns and won 9-1,  Raise the Jolly Roger!!  Today is my Friday for the work week, I have a vacation day planned for tomorrow! Hopefully with all the items I have planned I will be able to do some crafting – I’m more excited about eating out and the Amish donuts at the flea market!

This week I decided to participate in the Freshly Made Sketches challenge. Below is the sketch for their card design.  Please make sure to stop by their blog and see the wonderful designs by their talented design team and other crafters like myself. For my card I chose to use Confetti Celebrations Designer Series Paper to pick the major colors for the card – Bermuda Bay and Crushed Curry.  The card base and mat are both Bermuda Bay with the mat embossed with the Lucky Stars textured embossing folder.   The two strips on the left side of the card are from the Confetti Celebration Designer Series Paper. For the “star” focal image, I first embossed a Crushed Curry  star on Whisper White paper  using a start from the Bright and Beautiful stamp set.  When I realized the star was to large for my card design I used a smaller framelit than what originally matched the stamp. Then I decided to add the star onto Whisper White cardstock with the greeting, at that point I knew I needed a colored background – instead on embossing a new star – I used a sponge dauber & Bermuda Bay ink to color the background and wiped any excess of the embossed image.  Candy dot completed the star.  Greeting is stamped with Basic Gray on Whisper White and the mat for that piece is Pistachio Pudding. Both the greeting and star are backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Fall Watercolor Wetlands

Last night I saw a piece of Watercolor paper in my paper stash and thought it’s been awhile, you look lonely.  I’ve been hooked on Blendabilities and water-coloring has taken a backseat, now water-coloring is front and center.  With the weather lately we have had some beautiful evening sunsets – yellow & oranges – which gave me the idea for this card.  I used Crumb Cake and Sahara Sand to create the beach and Pumpkin Pie, Daffodil Delight and a little Soft Sky for the sunset.  The Wetlands stamp sets provided the seagulls and the greeting is from “For All Things” from the 2014 Holiday Catalog.  The watercolor paper is matted with a piece of Pumpkin Pie.  It’s the perfect card to send someone to let them know you are thinking of them!

PCCCS109 – Sweet Baby!

Happy Monday, hope everyone had a great weekend. The weather here was beautiful, cool mornings and pleasant sunny afternoons.

Below is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch, boy was it hard for me to come up with an idea, then BAM – I had an idea.

PCCCS106-160-002-300x300

First I needed to find the right piece of designer paper, since I wanted to use the baby theme, Lullaby Designer Series Paper was my choice.  Next, I pull together some various cardstock colors and got started.  Unfortunately, I was out of Baked Brown Sugar cardstock so I substituted Close to Cocoa (C2C), its nice when your stash has a nice variety of colors. The pieces of designer paper are adhered to the Whisper White background and a C2C piece punched with the Scallop Edge border punch separates the two. The banner is also C2C and embossed with the Decorative Dots folder, one of my favorites – versatile for a variety of themes, and backed with Stampin Dimensionals. Image of the cute Koala is on Whisper White and matted on Crisp Cantaloupe – the Project Like corner rounder soften the edges.  Blendabilites were used to color the cutie!, he is backed with Dimensionals.  The ticket is from the That’s the Ticket stamp set, stamped in Pistachio Pudding on Pistachio Pudding.  Cute punched heart is on the opposite corner.  The sentiment of “Sweet baby” is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar and cut out with paper snips. Crisp Cantaloupe is from the Hearts a Flutter Framelits, can never have to many hearts when talking about babies!  Card is finished with some Candy Dots and vintage Whisper White ribbon.

Clean – Simple and Scattered!

Hope you had a great weekend, ready for another week?  Yesterday I made a “Dump Cake” for dessert.  I like to watch Food Network and The Pioneer Woman is one of my favorite shows. Ree made the cake in the show Saturday and it made me remember how my Grandma Sutterlin would make a cherry/pineapple one.  A dump cake is very simple, pie filling and/or fruit, cake mix and butter.  On Sunday, I decided to make two smaller ones splitting the cake mix – peach for my husband and blackberry for me – little whipped topping and all I can say is yummy yummy for the tummy!

Todays cards are clean, simple and use all of the stamps in the Seasonally Scattered stamp set from the 2014 Holiday Catalog.  These would make great note cards for gifts or cards to send in the mail.  The size of the card is actually 8.5″ long x 2.75″ tall (left to right) when scored and folded at 4.25″.  The colored cardstock matches the inks used, with the exception of thanks.  For the Thanks card, I inked the stamp with Hello Honey and dabbed at little Tangelo Twist and Mossy Meadow on before I stamped.  The whisper white the image is on is smaller than the stamp (3.75″ x 2.25″), make sure you have scrap paper underneath when stamping.  I had the cards finished when my 2-Way Glue pen fell off the shelf and onto my foot, it was a sign. LOL.  I took the glue pen traced inside the letters and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamond Glitter for some bling, of course this step is optional – but who doesn’t like sparkle.

FMS152 – Give Thanks

Good morning, hope you are having a great weekend.  Not sure about where you live, but the weather  here sure has changed.  Friday it was in the upper 80’s, sunny and humid.  After work Friday,  decided not to run my errands, but spend some time in the pool, never know when pool time will end!  Saturday started sunny and humid, but by mid-afternoon there was a “cool” breeze and I needed a light blanket over my legs to sit out on the porch.  No long pants just yet, I’m not a long pants and closed in shoes kinda girl!  My husband starts his fall softball league today and I’m sure they all love the change in the weather

Thought I would participate in the Freshly Made Sketches 152 challenge this week, with a clean and simple designed card.  Once you take a look at the sketch below you will understand why clean and simple.  Remember to stop by the Freshly Made Sketches blog to see wonderful creations by their design team and other crafter like me.

FMS Final 152-001

Here is the card I designed.  Card base is Cajun Craze with a top fold. Horizontal layer is For All Things Designer Paper matted on a piece of Soft Suede.  Used stamps from the For All Things stamp set for the focal image, layering two. Tied a little bow from Gold Bakers twine to place on top of the stamped bow. Gotta love sequins, noticed a tiny imperfection, little bit of liquid glue and sequins and no one would know!

PCCCS#108 – Ho!Ho!Ho!

Happy Wednesday night, I must say these four day work weeks are nice, already half way through the work week. Looking forward to my haircut Thursday evening, for some reason its always nice to have someone else wash your hair!  Best part, will be when I get home and my husband will have made dinner, I see spaghetti and salad in my future.

Thank you to all who voted for me!

Sketch for this week is below. When I first saw the two squares on the lower left corner I thought of the new Tree Punch from the 2014 Holiday catalog and how cute they would be there.

PCCCS105-159-002-300x231 (2)

Here is the card I designed, with a Washi tape strip on the left side. To create the strip, I took a piece of Whisper White and alternated pieces of All is Calm Designer Washi Tape, wrapped around the sides and then adhered to a mat of Lost Lagoon.  The focus stamp is Bearing Gifts which has a greeting right under the bear. Since I did not want to use the greeting, I covered the words with a piece of tape, inked up the stamp, pulled the tape off and stamped the image.  The bear is colored with different Blendabilities.  I used Cherry Cobbler on the hat and Real Red on the greeting to tie them together.  The trees on the left are both stamped from the new Tree Punch and for the Glimmer tree, I just trimmed a little off each side for a smaller tree. Both trees are backed with Stampin Dimensionals.  Candy Dots accent the top right corner.

Just Add Ink #229 – Rainbows

Happy Labor Day, if you have the day off from work, hope you are enjoying it with family or friends.  It’s humid and rainy here again today, not exactly cookout weather. We ended up visiting with friends last night, just plan on taking it easy today and making a few cards.

While in the pool Saturday, thought about the card I would make for this weeks Just-Add-Ink # 229 challenge, something “Bright, Fun & Happy – – “Rainbows”.  Remember to take time to visit their blog, direct link by clicking the image below, for projects from their design team and other crafters just like me.  Last week my Cascading Card was picked for Honorable Mention, pretty exciting if you ask me!

I knew I wanted a clean – simple card and the Four Feathers Stamp Set and ROYGBIV popped into my head.

JAI229

Here is the card I designed, using  ROYGBIV (red-orange-yellow-green-blue-indigo-violet).  Those are such boring color names, Real Red, Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, Wild Wasabi, Tempting Turquoise, Rich Razzleberry and Wisteria Wonder are much more exciting names!  I used a circle template, two circle framelits cut together to create a frame to adhere the feathers on.  The features were stamped  using Four Feathers Stamp set with matching ink and die cut with the Feather Framelits.  The wreath is popped up with dimensionals on a Whisper White mat, which is clear embossing with the Hardwood background stamp for texture.  Whisper White Organza Ribbon finishes the card.
