Late to the party . . .

When I first saw the 2017 Sale-a-Bration catalog the Avant Garden Photopolymer Stamp set did not stand out to me, and was not part of my wish list. After weeks of seeing all the card ideas out there I knew on the next order I placed I needed to have that set.

Todays card features an image from the set I don’t seem to see as many cards made with. Since I was “late to the party” in getting the stamp set – the least I could do was show this image some love ♥

My card starts with a piece of watercolor paper 3″ x 4″ with the image and sentiment stamped in Archival Basic Black ink. Next using an Aqua Painter and ink pads the flowers and leaves were colored. For a finishing touch I did a light color wash of Smoky Slate ink around the image and words and wrapped Basic Black Metallic thread around the bottom about 10 times.  To complete the card, designer series paper is cut to3″ x 4″, adhered to the card base, then watercolor paper adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Just saying Hello !

While I’m out of town on business for my day job, I thought I would share with you a card made with the Jar of Love Bundle.

This card uses Mint Macaron for the card base and a mat made from matching 2015-2017 In-Color Designer Series Paper. The flowers where stamped in Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum and Tempting Turquoise. The flowers are two step stamping, all where inked and stamped off first then the 2nd stamp was full color. Some flowers where glued directly to the card front while others are backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals, pearl embellishments finish the card.

This is a perfect card to mail to someone to let them know you are thinking about them.

That strange stamp . . .

Do you like the “Big on Birthdays” Photopolymer stamp set, just not sure what to do with the image below? Well I have the solution for you!

If you are not sure how someone will take that sentiment I have a solution  – cover it !  (thanks to some idea’s I saw on Pinterest mashed together)

You can use almost anything the size of the lettering to cover it, I used a flower make from the Succulent Framelit Dies.

Once I stamped the image in Emerald Envy, I trimmed it out with Paper Snips, stamped the bottom ribbon in Tangerine Tango, set the image on the Crumb Cake card stock to determine where the top ribbon should be and  stamped it, then adhered the image to the card front.  The flower is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

February Sunday Stamper Cards

Today I’ll be meeting with my Sunday Stampers for our monthly stamping and thought I would share with you the cards we will be making.

For two of the cards – Beautiful You & Hey Chick, we are coloring with Watercolor Pencils and using either Blender Pens or Aqua painter’s to move the color around.  Both the Hey Chick stamp stamp set and Gray dotted paper (from the Carried Away Designer Series Paper Pack) are 2017 Sale-a-Bration items.

Beautiful You used Watercolor Paper and Hey Chick is Very Vanilla Card stock. Don’t forget when using Watercolor Pencils, best to stamp the image in Archival Basic Black ink to avoid the black from smearing when water hits it.

Beautiful You accented with a flower using the Petite Flower & Tree Builder punches, rhinestone finishes it.

Hey Chick card featuring the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to create the chicken wire background. Crumb cake card stock was cut, embossing folder inked on the side where Sizzix is printed, paper inserted and pressed together with my hands to transfer ink from the folder to the card stock.

Here is a close of the possible choices using the Happy Celebrations Photopolymer Stamp set with matching Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folders. The difference with these embossing folders are that they “deboss”, where the image is depressed into the paper vs. a raised image.  Colors include Melon Mambo, Cucumber Crush and Crushed Curry.

Paper Craft Crew 231

Happy Saturday, hope the weather is nice were you are – it’s going to be in the upper 50/low 60’s this weekend, really looking forward to that!

Today I thought I would post a card I completed for the Paper Craft Crew weekly challenge.

Below is the banner for this sketch challenge, after some thought the past couple days, I finally came up with the card I would like to share with you. Click on the image to check out the blog and play along.

For my card I decided to use products from the Succulent Garden Suite in the 2017 Occasions catalog. The card includes a strip of the Succulent Garden Designer Series Paper and the Oh So Succulent stamp set with matching Succulent Framelits Dies. Images from the stamp set were stamped in Archival Basic Black on Watercolor paper and colored using ink pads and my aqua painters, Clear & Gold Wink of Stella add glimmer, then die cut with their matching dies and layered on a Mint Macaron Label. Additional stamp sets include Falling Flowers (Old Olive), Gorgeous Grunge (Blushing Bride) and Thoughtful Banners (Old Olive) for the sentiment. Gold  ribbon and ♥ enamel shape finish off the card made on a Whisper White Thick Card Stock Base.

Need a wedding or anniversary card?

Happy Friday, hope you have some exciting weekend plans. I’ll be having by Sunday Stampers class this weekend, working on thank you cards as a wedding gift and getting ready to go out of town on Monday for my day job.

Speaking of weddings, today’s card is perfect for either a wedding or anniversary.  This card features the Falling in Love Designer Series Paper and new Falling Petals Textured Impressions Embossing Folder (page 51 in the 2017 Occasions catalog). Vellum card stock was embossed and layered over a piece of designer series paper.

As we all know adhesives can show through vellum, for the card using liquid glue, I first adhered the die cut hearts and word to the front of the embossed vellum, turned the vellum over and applied liquid glue behind the hearts and words then adhered to the designer paper.  By doing this, adhesive is behind adhesive.

To finish off the card, Gold Wink of Stella added to the word Congrats.

Layering with Fun Foam

Happy Wednesday, don’t know about you but I sure am ready for the sun and beach, today’s card – Fun in the Sun features just that. I came across this trick for adding dimension to your card using fun foam (purchased at your local craft store) from fellow demonstrator Dena Rekow.

To get started I first used Watercolor Paper and the Large Letter Framelits to die cut the word FUN. Using a few drops from the Daffodil Delight reinker and a little water I painted the letters yellow. Next, using a piece of fun foam, I die cut the word FUN and with liquid glue adhered the Watercolor Paper letters on top. While the letters dried I worked on the image for the card.

  • Lighthouse = Read Red followed by Smokey Slate
  • Light beams = Daffodil Delight
  • Water = Marina Mist full strength then stamped again
  • Beach = Mixture of Crumb Cake & Sahara Sand
  • Seagulls = Basic Gray
  • IN THE = Memento Black (from Sunshine Says, I just wiped the ink off the words IN & AIR)
  • SUN = Daffodil Delight (die cut from Sunshine)

Added the word FUN to top, Dapper Denim card stock was used as the mat color on a card base of Crumb Cake.

Here is a close up of the word FUN:

Here is the completed card:

Hope this makes you think of a warm sunny beach!

Share Love with PCC230

Happy Valentine’s Day Eve, are you prepared with something sweet for your sweetie? What do you prefer?

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Theme Challenge . . . LOVE . . .

Love is so much more than Valentines Day… It is a reflection of individuals we love or events that represent LOVE in out lives!  There are many different ways you express love for someone in your life, today’s card is one I created and mailed to a family out of town to let them know I’m thinking of them.

For my card I used the Sweet & Sassy Framelits to create the layered heart topping it off with the ‘Love’ from the Sunshine Wishes Framelits, part of the Sunshine Sayings Bundle. ‘Love’ was die cut from the middle of the Smoky Slate mat before the designer series paper was adhered. I also colored the ‘Love’ with Clear Wink of Stella for a little sparkle. Card is perfect to show someone you care ♥

Make your own embellishment today

Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend.  Hopefully the weather is fine where you are, we had about 3″ of snow earlier this week and now it may rain today and be around 50 degrees, sure is a weird weather winter.

Today I thought I would share with you a card I made using the new Falling in Love Designer Series Paper. This paper has a variety of patterns perfect for weddings, anniversaries, birthday or any occasion. Colors include Blushing Bride, Sahara Sand, Soft Sky, Sweet Sugarplum and Very Vanilla. There are nice embellishment that match in Occasions catalog (check out page 51), but I decided to make my own embellishment to match the sheet of paper with different colored butterflies.

To create the thick butterfly on the front I die cut one of the detailed butterflies from the Butterflies Thinlits Die in four of the colors and glued them together, matching the top Sweet Sugarplum to the mat behind the designer series paper. This adds a nice dimension to the card and to top it off, the banner that I stamped Happy Birthday on I ran by bone folder under and over to make it wavy put a Stampin Dimensional behind the ‘APP’ to accent the wave.

Why not try making your own embellishment today!

Have you seen the new Dynamic embossing folder?

Don’t know about you, but I just love me an embossing folder, especially the new  Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folders.  These folders make extra deep, super crisp impressions—great for card fronts and accents.

In the 2017 Occasions catalog on page 47 is a new one, the Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. Size: 4-1/2″ x 6-3/16″ (11.4 x 15.7 cm) and is used with the Big Shot.  Lightly spritz your paper with water to get a better impression. Use can use either the front or back of the cardstock due to the dimensional impressions.

The sandwich for this type of folder different due to the thickness of the folder:

  • Big Shot Platform (bottom)
  • Dynamic Textured Impression Embossing Folder (with paper inside)
  • Cutting Pad (top)

My card today features the new folder used to creaate the background and banners of the new Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper.  The Happy Birthday (in Delightful Dijon) is from the new Photopolymer stamp set – Big on Birthdays. To finish off the card are a few stars from the Metallic Enamel Shapes.

Hope you liked the card.

Card inspired by candy hearts . . .

While doing a little internet surfing I came across the SUO Challenges blog (SUO = Stampin’ Up! Only) and thought I would join the fun.

It’s February,  which means it’s time for Valentines! Cards, gifts or treats and treats helped me come up with the idea for my card. How many of you like the little candy hearts with the words on them, I know you are raising your hand right now!

While I do not have many Valentine stamp sets, I am a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and the January 2017  Pumpkin Adorning Arrows provided the stamps I needed. To make my card, I first stamped ‘Happy Valentine’s Day’ in Real Red then stamped the heart outline all over the Whisper White in Basic Black. Next I picked a variety of colors and stamped the inside of the heart. Once done I matted the Whisper White on Basic Black, tied a bow from the 3/8″ Metallic Ribbon (from Sale-a-Bration), backed it with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered to a card base of Sweet Sugarplum. Now off it will go to someone special . . .

Perfect Plum anyone ?

Last week I shared a card I made using the Photopolymer Stamp Set High Tide, stamping using multiple colors. Today I thought I would share a card using the same design but only Perfect Plum Ink.

Love how the card turned out. For the lighthouse, when stamping the first image I stamped off the image then used full strength ink on the outside image. Layering Circle Framelits used for the circles, which are also backed with Stampin Dimensionals.  This is a clean and simple card that could be done in a variety of colors. The little bit of Silver Foil mat is the nice finishing touch.

Hope you like the tone on tone card as much as I do.

Hey Chick! Stop and see PCC229 challenge

I’ve officially jumped on the “Hey Chick” bandwagon!  I’ve sIf een so many cards made with this stamp set I just had to place a qualifying order to get one, as it’s a Sale-a-Bration item, free with a $50 purchase from Stampin’ Up!

While I am doing more traveling for work than I have in the past, I’ve decided that when I’m in town I will try to participate in 1 – 2 challenges a week, it sure does help getting the creativity to flow.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew challenge that starts each Wednesday, this week it’s a sketch.

For my card, I started with the “Chick” and designed around her, don’t you just love the Island Indigo hair. Once she was all dolled up, I added a coat of Clear Wink of Stella for some shine.  Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper was used for the backdrop with accents stamped in Old Olive and Delightful Dijon using stamps from the Timeless Textures stamp set. To finish the card is a flower made from some of the dies from the new Succulent Framelit Dies with a retired button and Old Olive Bakers twine for a bow.  I just love how the card turned out!

Little about the Light . . .

Over this past weekend I was thinking what a difference a week makes. The weekend of the 21st-22nd it was in the 60’s and we wore shorts and t-shirts and this past weekend, not above 32 and snow flurries! Thought I would use the Photopolymer stamp set High Tide and make a card reminding me warmer days to come and the beach.

The main stamp of the set – a Lighthouse – is a two stamp process.  First you stamp the main stamp (Real Red) then the outline or shadow based stamp (Dapper Denim).  The beach is Sahara Sand with Early Espresso grass, water is Dapper Denim (stamped off first) and Soft Sky. The light ray is Crushed Curry and seagulls are Early Espresso.

I’m really happy with how this came out and reminds me of a warm summer day.
