SIP #7 – Celebrate

For only being a four day work week, it seems like it has lasted forever, really glad tomorrow is Friday. I’ve a lot of crafting to do over the weekend.  While I’ve been glad that I work indoors since it’s been so hot & humid, the weather makes for warm pool water and I’ve enjoyed some late evening swims. The pool seems just like a bathtub before you need to add more hot water, need to enjoy this while it’s here, next thing you know the water is ice cold again!

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper challenge, check out their blog by clicking here:

SIP-Color-Challenge-7-1024x1000

For my card I decided to use a stamp set that’s been laying around feeling a little neglected, the Celebrate Today stamp set, which has matching framelits. The card starts with a base of Sahara Sand and the Polka Dot Textured Embossing folder that I used only on the from the card. Next are three strips of card stock (Pacific Point, Daffodil Delight & Whisper White) layered together and the Pacific Point is adhered with dimensionals. The balloon and word ‘Celebrate’ are heat embossed with Gold Stampin Embossing powder and the banner ends are punched out using the Hexagon punch. For a little something something I used the new “White Perfect Accents”.

CYCI #79 – Convention Edition

I really enjoyed convention last week and now it’s back to the daily grind. It’s amazing how it takes a few days to get back to ‘normal’ after a trip.  The weather here is so hot & humid here in Cranberry that I don’t want to venture outside, good thing I have work and laundry to keep me busy.  Hopefully in a few days the weather will get cooler, I’m looking forward to be able to sleep out on the sun porch at night.

Todays card is for the Can You Case It weekly challenge, Convention edition. Click here to check out their blog.

CYCI79-300x253

For my card, since a convention edition, thought I would use the stamp set and designer series paper I had ordered and arrived while I was at convention. The paper is from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, coordinating with Basic Black, Calypso Coral, Pacific Point and Very Vanilla. Sentiment is from Watercolor Words and a little bling from jewel rhinestones.

Fresh Market Swap

Today is the last day of convention, haven’t  won a prize patrol  yet, keep  your fingers crossed. There was an all give away yesterday of the new Basis Black ink pad, can’t wait to try it. It will be available September 1 in the new holiday catalog.  Had a wonderful dinner last night with Linda at the hotel restaurant  Bambara. Then watched  all kinds of  fireworks from the window in my room from all over the city, its  Pioneer Days here in  Salt Lake City. Below is one of the floats from the Pioneer Days parade, earlier in the morning.

Today’s card is mine for the Fresh Market Swap here at convention, last years theme was tropical, I really enjoyed the cards received so I joined the swap again this year. I just love that the theme was Fresh Market, when I first paged through the new catalog, I feel in love with the Market Fresh stamp set and could not wait to purchase an use it, this swap was the perfect fit!

The focal image of the card is the ‘Lettuce Celebrate’ stamp which I heat embossed with black embossing powder pn watercolor paper and colored in with my aqua painter. Farmers Market Designer Series Paper coordinates with the stamp set and I used the tomato image with Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive card stock. Gorgeous Grunge stamp set provided the added background on the Old Olive card stock. Linen thread helps add a little dimension.

24/7 Stampers Swap @ Convention

Well I made it, I’m here in Salt Lake City for the Stampin Up Convention. This afternoon I did a little shopping, a girl can never have to many purses or stamps!

The card I will be sharing with you today is the one I am swapping with the other members of the 24/7 Stampers that are here in Salt Lake City for the Stampin Up Convention.

To get started on the card I ran a piece of Tip Top Taupe through the Big Shot using the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing folder and adhered it to a card base of Tip Top Taupe. Next is a Metallic Foil Doily, followed by two banners, Blackberry Bliss and Mint Macaron then some linen thread. For the Butterfly I used the Watercolor Wings stamp set and Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon and Blackberry Bliss ink, it is die cut with the Bold Butterfly Framelit. On top of the stamped butterfly is a Silver Foil butterfly using the Butterflies Thinlit Die. To add some bling is a Jewel Rhinestone in each size.   There is no sentiment on the front of the card so that the butterfly stands out. This card can be used for any occasion based on what is stamped on in the inside.

SIP#6 Tic-Tac-Toe

Thought I would sneak in making one final card before I leave tomorrow for the last Stampin Up Convention in Salt Lake City. The convention starts Thursday and ends on Saturday, I will be joining Ann, Linda and Valory from the 24/7 Stampers. As the week goes on, I will be posting the cards I made for some of the swaps I am participating.

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #6, Tic-Tac-Toe – all you do is choose a row across, down or diagonally and create. Since I had “Thanks” from the Expressions Natural Elements on my craft table, I decided on Embossing – Patterned Paper – Thanks. Click here to check out the blog.

SM-Tic-Tac-Toe-Challenge-6-791x1024

For the Embossing:  Die cut a butterfly out of Basic Black card stock using a Butterflies Thinlits die, then with Versamark and Clear Stampin Embossing powder, I added three layers of clear embossing powder for a nice shiny look.

For the Patterned Paper: 2015-2017 In-Color Designer Series Paper Stack, Mint Macaron

For the Thanks: Expressions Natural Element with Crystal Effects spread over the top, this way when it dries it’s shiny just like the butterfly.

Who doesn’t like a good cupcake for their birthday? Afraid of all the calories, then today’s card is just for you!

My card is for the MOJO Monday 406 challenge, sketch by Julee Tilman below. Check out their blog here.

Mojo406

My card features the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack and matching Washi tape. The cup cake was created using the Sprinkles of Life stamp set and replaces the star in the sketch. I stamped the bottom of the cup cake using Tip Top Taupe ink on Crumb Cake card stock and cut out with my paper snips. The icing is a Watermelon Wonder cloud using the Tree Builder Punch, with Dazzling Details for sparkle, it’s a birthday cup cake after all.  I used the Decorative Dots Embossing folder for texture on the Crushed Curry. The background is pieces of Cherry on Top paper pieced together on a mat of Bermuda Bay and adhered to a Whisper White card base. All other layers have dimensionals behind them. Happy Birthday is from the Age Awareness stamp set and stamped in Crushed Curry, Cherry on Top Washi Tape is covering opposite corners. The perfect birthday card for the calorie counter in your life!

SIP #5 – theme – Holiday’s

Happy Friday eve, an interesting way to look at Thursday night. Friday marks my last day of work until July 28th, it’s vacation time and the Stampin Up Convention next week. Looking forward to see old friend and hopefully making some new ones.

Before I get to far into tonight’s post,  I would like to thank Justin and his team at Stamp Ink Paper Blog for picking my submission for challenge #4 as the Design Team Pick, click here to see the card I submitted.

This week’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #5, which is a theme – the holiday’s! It’s never to early to start on holiday card. I must say I’m one of those that like the Hallmark channels week of Christmas in July movies, I’ve taped a few to watch when working on projects like this. Click here for a link to the blog.

SIP-Any-Theme-5

Let me tell you how I got started with my card. I knew right away I wanted to use the new Brick Wall Textured Embossing folder and one of the samples I made laying around my card space so I settled on using the Crumb Cake piece (the card base is actually Whisper White card stock). Next was the color selection for the “bricks”, I ended up using Cajun Craze, Delightful Dijon, Real Red and Chocolate Chip which gave me bricks that look like my house. Using sponge daubers, I carefully sponged all the bricks with Cajun Craze making sure the coloring did not match – yes I said did not match, keep in mind bricks don’t look exactly alike. Next was some Delightful Dijon, followed by Real Red and Chocolate Chip – then I went back with a little Cajun Craze.  The “snow” on the bricks was made with a 2-Way glue pen and some Dazzling Diamond Glitter. Next came the wreath (which is 3 step stamping) using the stamp set Wondrous Wreath and the Wonderful Wreath Framelit Dies. For the wreath I chose Wild Wasabi, Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder. Noel is die cut in Watermelon Wonder and once adhered to the wreath with liquid glue, I ran over it with Crystal Effects for that glossy look. The wreath is adhered to the “bricks” with dimensionals.

CYCI #78 – Black/White/???

So how is your Tuesday, mine is pretty good. Next week I will be going to the final Stampin Up Convention as we know them today and my badge and bag voucher came in the mail. I better get to finishing those swaps, its closing in on me!

Today’s card is for the CanYouCaseIT weekly challenge, check out their blog here.

First a little background on how I came up with the idea for my card. While in the shower this morning I was thinking of the challenge and what I could do, you need to understand I have some of my best ideas while in the shower. I thought how cool it would be to use the You’ve Got This stamp set.  The cross hatched stamp was stamped with VersaMark ink and Black Stampin Embossing Powder was heat set all on a Whisper White card base. Next, using Daffodil Delight card stock as my “one color”, I used VersaMark and Clear Stampin Embossing Powder for the flower. I then fussy cut the flower out and adhered to the card with dimensionals. The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms and a small bow using vintage Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon tops off the card.

Guest Designer – Maya

I’ve had a great time the last few days as my brother and his family have been visiting. Saturday we shopped, swam and went to the see Pittsburgh Pirates play the St Louis Cardinals. It was a great win for the Pirates in extra innings!

This morning my niece Maya and I worked on a card for her to put together and for me to put on my blog today as a guest designer.

Today’s card was designed and made by my niece Maya who is here visiting from New Jersey for a few days with my brother and his family. She really liked the butterflies from the Watercolor Wings and various butterfly framelit/thinlits, so it only made sense that the card she made for me to feature on my blog today had butterflies.

Here is a picture of her stamping the sentiment from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink on Mint Macaron. The end has a banner cut and is adhered with liquid glue on the left and a dimensional on the right.

Maya stamping

First we worked on the butterflies, she picked Mint Macaron, Lost Lagoon & Island Indigo for the ink colors and we used the Watercolor Wings stamp set. Next we used the Bold Butterflies Framelits & Butterflies Thinlits to die cut the top butterflies in Mint Macaron (small) and Night of Navy (large). Maya wanted a wood grain look for the background so I thought of a piece of the new Color Me Irresistible Designer Series Paper in Tip Top Taupe, we cut it to size and she used a sponge dauber and Tip Top Taupe (TTT) to add color and depth to the paper. The card base is actually Whisper White cut to 4 ¼” x 11″ and scored at 5 ½” for a top folding card. The TTT was adhered to the right side of the card and a piece of Daffodil Delight was cut and run through the Big Shot using the Fluttering Textured Impressions embossing folder. The Daffodil Delight was adhered with dimensionals and a piece of vintage Champagne Glimmer paper acts as an accent. The butterflies were adhered with dimensional and a string of pearls finishes them off.

SIP4 & a sandwich

In a few short hours it will be Friday, the day before the weekend, yeah!!! It’s been a busy night here as my brother and his family arrived for a four day visit. My nephew will be a senior in high school  this year so they are doing college visits (Penn State and the University of Pittsburgh) and visiting me as well.  Since I needed to work a little later today and they’ve been busy traveling we opted for take out from Primanti Brother’s as well all just love their sandwiches with cole slaw and french fries on them. Here’s a photo of one:

Today’s card is for the  Stamp Ink Paper  challenge, you can check out their  blog here .

AT-Inspiration-Challenge-4-791x1024

To  make my card I started with the  Hardwood stamp and Crumb Cake card stock and ink pad. I stamped the image twice and cut the individual “boards” apart, two are in the back horizontal and seven where lined up in the front with a little more than ¼” between them. Next I cut a piece of Cucumber Crush to act as ‘grass’ and layered on Soft Sky to create the background. The fence is then adhered by dimensionals. Using scraps of pinks/yellow/white I punched out flowers from the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and adhered them in a circle to create a bouquet of flowers, similar to the ball of flowers in the inspiration photo. Flowers have rhinestones in the middle for some bling. Used the Balloon Framelit banner and gold foil to create the banners from flower bunch to flower bunch. The entire piece is adhered to a card base of Whisper White. For something different the Whisper White is 4 ¼” x 11″, scored and folded at 5 ½” for a side folding card. The sentiment is from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set.

CYCI#77

Happy Wednesday, half way through the week and one sleep away from my brother and his family coming for a visit. They are doing a college tour trip with my nephew and will coming into Pittsburgh tomorrow and will be spending a few days with us before leaving on Monday. While visiting I plan on letting my niece, and fellow crafter, loose in the craft room and will feature her as a guest designer on my Sunday posting.

Today’s card is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge, you can check out their blog here.

CYCI77-232x300

To get started on the card I cut a piece of Whisper White card stock to size and using the flower bunch stamp from Birthday Blossoms I stamped the image multiple times using Hello Honey, Wisteria Wonder and Mint Macaron. Next I cut the image into thirds and adhered them in order to a piece of Wisteria Wonder card stock and wrapped Metallic Gold Bakers Twine around three times, adhering to the back of the card. This piece was then adhered to the Hello Honey Card base with Stampin Dimensionals. The sentiment on Wisteria Wonder is from Birthday Blossoms as well and heat embossed in white. Topped off the card with a bakers twine bow and pearls.

Double Scoop Mint Chocolate Chip!

Happy Ice Cream Cone Day!  July is National Ice Cream Month and it brings us three special days:

  • July 1 – Creative Flavor Day
  • July 7 – Ice Cream Cone Day
  • July 23 – Birthday of the Ice Cream Cone, which was invented in 1904, is 111 years old!

I needed to make a card with a ‘Holiday Focus – Ice Cream’, so of course I used my favorite flavor, Mint Chocolate Chip as the flavor for the card. To get started, using Mint Macaron & Crumb Cake card stock I stamped the ice cream (cloud) and cone from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set with VersaMark and used Clear Stampin Embossing Powder. Once the images were heat set, I used Chocolate Chip ink and another stamp from the set to stamp the “chips”.   The Tree Builder punch makes it easy to punch out the ice cream and used paper snips to cut out the cone. The cone & ice cream is backed with dimensionals for depth. To create the background I used the sun stamp from Kinda Eclectic. In the lower right corner using Chocolate Chip I stamped the word ‘Sunshine’ from Crazy About You stamp set.  The word Celebrate is from the Expressions Natural Elements and is both adhered to the card with Crystal Effects and covered with to make it shine!  I find it easier to cover with Crystal Effects first and let dry before adhering to the card, this avoids Crystal Effects were you don’t want it.  Now doesn’t this want to you to go out and get some ice cream and cones!

Hopefully were you live you were able to enjoy fireworks last night. For us, next weekend is when our community has their annual community days and fireworks, we watched some firework shows on television and they were great! I enjoyed the 4th by doing some craft projects and spending a few hours in the swimming pool, it was a great day for that! Today is food shopping day, when you open our frig there is a cool breeze.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge. The sketch is below, stop over to their blog to check out their design team items and cards by other crafters like me, just click here.

PCCCS106-160-016-300x300

To create my 5″x 5″ card I used a piece of Bohemian Designer Series Paper as inspiration and on my card. Since the colors include Delightful Dijon, Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss, I used both Bermuda Bay and Blackberry Bliss card stock and for the Delightful Dijon, chose to use the new ‘Color Me Irresistible Specialty Designer Series Paper’. The dinosaur images are from the No Bones About It Photopolymer Stamp Set. Being a photopolymer stamp set makes it easy to line up the images for the two step stamping. I used the new Gold Metallic thread to wrap around the card, but finished it off with a bow from the new Dotted Lace Trim in Delightful Dijon. The punched out stars are from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack set (this punch set really comes in handy for multiple projects). On the upper left corner are three ‘green’ circles, these are actually the new White Perfect Accents colored with a Sharpie – I thought that the dinosaur’s that were stamped with Delightful Dijon and Bermuda Bay looked green to me, so green circles it is. Both the image square and sentiment square are backed with dimensionals for depth. The No Bones About It stamp set is definitely going to be a fun one to stamp with!  ♥

CCREW0715CF – Sparkling Strawberries

Welcome to the weekend. It’s been a busy week with work. Tuesday night my husband and I went to see Train in concert, the opening acts were Matt Nathanson and The Fray. It was a great concert, below is a picture of Pat Monahan (Train), Matt and Issac Slade (lead singer The Fray). On the way in to the concert a bad storm hit which included lightening and the venue had us stay in our cars for about 45 minutes before letting us in to park. Felt a little like a herd a cattle, but always better to safe than risk injury. Today I was off work for the holiday and we decided to drive to the Rogers Flea Market, a normal 50 minute drive that took 2+ hours, guess everyone had the same idea nice the weather was so nice today.

20150630_222414_resized

Now on to the card for today.

When I looked through the new catalog for the first time, I just knew this stamp set would be mine! While I do not have a green thumb (unless I’m stamping), I just loved the images of the “Market Fresh” stamp set and how it coordinates with the Farmers Market Designer Series Paper. The images are perfect for watercolor, something I had not done in quite a while.

To get started I cut a piece of Watercolor paper to size, ran by embossing buddy over it (helps with the static cling you can get with embossing powder in all the wrong places), stamped the image with VersaMark and sprinkled with Black embossing powder. Used by heat tool to set the powder. Next, I broke out my Aqua Painter (paint brush that holds water) and some ink pads, once I pressed some ink on to the inside of the stamp pad cover I used that ink with the water from the Aqua Painter to color in the image and set it aside to dry.  Once completely dry, I spread some Dazzling Details over the strawberries to make them sparkle. As the accent for the card I decided on using two layers of ribbon – Natural Chevron & Burlap, not only do they look great together but their size difference is perfect, they are held together with some liquid glue. When adhering the image layer, I used two layers of dimensionals to balance with the ribbon and not cause the image to bow in the middle.
