Polished Stone Technique

By | June 23, 2017

Today I’m sharing a technique I was reminded of now that Stampin’  Up! is selling Glossy Card stock again. Glossy card stock is 8.5″ x 11″, comes 10 in a pack and has a glossy finish on one side, matte finish on the other and not acid free.

For this technique you need glossy card stock, re-inkers (2-3 colors), two cotton balls and rubbing alcohol.  Take one cotton ball, add some rubbing alcohol and a few (3-6) drops of each re-inker and tap the cotton ball all over the glossy card stock switch position as you tap it, use the other cotton ball to tap off the extra color. It’s fun to do and you are only limited by your imagination. For my card I used Berry Burst and Lemon Lime Twist. Why not try Soft Sky and Blushing Bride; Blushing Bride with Smoky Slate; Smoky Slate with Peekaboo Peach . . . This background is shiny and reminds me of a granite countertop.

To complete the card the glossy cardstock was adhered to a mat of Island Indigo card stock and then a Whisper White card base. You can either use the Island Indigo mat or an extra piece of card stock to die cut Happy Birthday, which I used the Fine-Tip Glue pen to adhere to the card. The finishing touches are three rhinestone on the upper left and lower right.
