New Kid on the Block !

Happy Saturday,  thought I would share with you the card I made for a neighbor who recently had a baby. Not only did I make a card, I crocheted an afghan to go with it. He was born August 23rd, about 5 weeks early and just recently came home. Other than being early, he is perfectly healthy, guess he just wanted a summer birthday and not fall!

This was actually the card that inspired the one my Sunday Stampers recently made. Once the ‘happy’ is embossed any images can be stamped over it, just look through your collection and ideas are limitless.  Get yourself the Celebrations Duo Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Stop back tomorrow for the 2nd Sunday of Christmas and Stampin’ Up! October Specials.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Swoosh Technique anyone?

Hope you are having a good week, last night was the monthly dinner with the “76er’s”, a group of people who graduated from North Hills High School in 1976.  Each month on our Facebook group a dinner spot is picked and those who are interested meet for dinner and conversation. We always have a great time!

Today’s card features a technique called “Swoosh” featured by Lisa Curico.  This technique is when you take your ink pad and swipe or swoosh it across the surface of the paper. For my cards I used both Glossy and Whisper White cardstock. I started by opening all the ink pads and then “swooshing” them left to right and down the card stock using light to dark colors. The colors on the glossy seem more vivid in person than the pictures show.

Colors used:

  • Daffodil Delight
  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Berry Burst
  • Pear Pizzazz (only on Whisper White version)
  • Tranquil Tide (greeting)

This version used Glossy Cardstock and a Crumb Cake card base.

For this card I added Pear Pizzazz when swooshing ink and used Thick Whisper White for the card base.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Sept 2017 Sunday Stamper Cards

This past Sunday my Sunday Stampers met for our monthly stamping session, the first since the new 2017 Holiday catalog started. We made two cards using new stamp sets and one by request, a baby card – which came in handy as I needed one for a neighbor having a baby this fall.

The first card we made is an Eclipse card – just like the one the other day for my niece’s birthday.  This card featured the new Hearts Come Home stamp set and the Large Letter Framelits. I’ve found using the Foam Adhesive Strip over Stampin’ Dimensionals definitely gives you more dimension to your card.

Fun card featuring one of my favorite stamp sets from the new holiday catalog – Painted Harvest – send someone the beauty of autumn with this sunflower-themed set. Just wait to see I how I use this for an up coming Sunday’s of Christmas.

Each person will make a baby card of their choice using Happy Celebrations and Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp Sets:

  • Girl = Flirty Flamingo
  • Boy = Pool Party
  • Not sure = Crumb Cake

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Thankful for You for PCC260

Happy Monday, hope you had a great weekend.  We watched a lot of sports this weekend, the Steelers and Penguins played neither of which managed to win, guess there is always next time.  Sunday was my monthly stampers meeting and tomorrow I will be sharing the projects we did.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #PCC260 challenge. Don’t forget to check out their blog and play along if you like.

For my card I decided on a fall card even if the weather here is in the upper 80°/lower 90°, sure doesn’t feel like the beginning of fall.  My card starts with a card base of Thick Very Vanilla, mat of Early Espresso and some Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper (strip of the far right, banner where sentiment is stamped and hand cut out pumpkins.  The banner is adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals for depth. Small piece of Lemon Lime Twist and Gold Faceted Gems have been attached to the end of the banner.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Happy Birthday to my favorite niece!

Today is my niece Maya’s birthday and I thought I would share the birthday card I made and sent her with you, an eclipse card – where the image is stamped, then a word die cut and when the letters are added back, they are backed with foam adhesive strips for added depth.

It’s hard to believe Maya is a teenager now, seems like just yesterday she was a little girl who would come for a visit, craft with her Aunt Karen then run and sit on Uncle Dan’s lap. This year, as a freshman Maya made the varsity soccer team for the Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School girls’ soccer team, we wish her all the best!

Her card features the flower and leaves from Painted Harvest stamped with Wisteria Wonder, Elegant Eggplant and Wild Wasabi. Greeting on the outside is from Happy Celebrations.

Here is the inside which features balloons from Happy Birthday Gorgeous and greeting from Happy Celebrations.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Sending Love with PCC259

Happy Saturday and welcome to the weekend, hope you have some fun plans. I’m hoping to get a bunch of crafting done and enjoy the beautiful weather. Stampin’ Up! is having there OnStage event in Salt Lake City in November and I have about 100 cards I need to make for various swaps (trading cards with other demonstrators) and I’d like to make sure they are all completed by the end of October so I have some work to do!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge #259 – Inspiration. Sometime when you see a picture like this an image pops in your head – then you need to figure out how to get it on paper.  Right away then I saw all the umbrella’s, I immediately thought of balloons is the sky, which leads me to card, pictured below.

After first stamping some balloons on Whisper White, I decide that did nothing for me, then I remembered a few cards I saw on Pinterest were people stamped the image and water colored, the end result is my card below. To get started I picked by four colors: Berry Burst, Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Peekaboo Peach. Next using the balloon outline stamps from Balloons Celebration one by one stamped the image on Watercolor Paper and used by Aqua Painter to fill them in. Once they were all dry, I added Soft Sky in the background with my Aqua Painter and used a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to create the strings. To finish off the balloons I added Clear Wink of Stella for Sparkle and Shine.  On the bottom right of the card, I stamped “sending” from the Sunshine Sayings stamp set and Basic Black die cut ‘love’ from Sunshine Wishes Thinlits Dies (the stamp set & Thinlits coordinate).

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Sassy meets Big on Birthdays!

How’s your week going? I just haven’t felt like myself lately and took a few days off to just relax and get my crafting mojo back in gear.

At a recent dinner with friends I was asked about making some birthday cards for a friend that are a little sassy and right away I thought of the stamp set – Big on Birthdays and that “special stamp” – you know the one that reads ” At least you’re still Pretty”.  It’s been rather challenging thinking of how to use this stamp and thanks to fellow demo Dena R. I came up with this design  back in March, now thanks to Judy, I’ve used it on four different cards!

For my cards I used a variety of designer paper, stamps and colors, they were fun to create ! Here is a look at them.

Inside of the cards, featuring some two step stamping.

I guess when you have sisters you like to have fun with these cards are perfect, for me and my brother, a card with “poop” would be our version of a sassy card, now doesn’t that have you thinking.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Get Well Wishes for PCC258

Happy Sunday night, hope you’ve had a good weekend and to those in the path of Irma, praying that you all are safe. We closed the pool Saturday as the weather has been rather cool, night temperatures in the 40’s and highs in the 60’s/low 70’s – not exactly pool weather. The water was really cold! I did enjoy the mornings, cuddled under a blanket on the porch having coffee and catching up on Instagram – I’m cqueen309.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge #258, check out their blog by clicking on the sketch below.

Here is a close up of my card. It starts with a Lemon Lime card base with a mat of Cajun Craze and Whisper white, which I wrapped a piece of Burlap Ribbon around, secured it with Mini Glue Dots and backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals before adhering to the card base. Next is a mat of Cajun Craze with a piece of Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper, also adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I used the Bunch of Blossoms stamp set with Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze to create the flowers with Gold Faceted Gems in the center. Leaves are stamped using the Painted Harvest Stamp set and Lemon Lime Twist ink then punched out with the matching Leaf Punch. Greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes on Whisper White and layered over a Cajun Craze banner. To finish off the card I added retired Enamel Dots in Cajun Craze. Perfect card to let someone know you are thinking about them when they aren’t feeling well, something we don’t always remember to do!

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

Reverse Eclipse Card for a Special Birthday

This week my godson Jason’s celebrated his birthday, today I thought I would share his card with you.

Each year I look forward to making him a card with a new technique.  A hot new technique right now is an eclipse card, where the paper is stamped, letters are die cut and the letter backed with Stampin’ Dimensional’s and raised up on the card front, for mine I raised the stamped image and inserted the letter on the card front.

I’ve created the card using images from the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Photopolymer stamp set, which is the stamp set part of the Happy Birthday Gorgeous Bundle.  The stamp set includes balloons, flowers, and messages, oh my! Create the perfect card or gift packaging for any birthday you care to celebrate. There are 32 photopolymer stamps. Happy Birthday Thinlits Die lets you create a die-cut shape in record time that is 3-1/4″ x 3″.

The greeting “Birthday to You!” is from Happy Celebrations Photopolymer stamp set. Colors used are Lemon Lime Twist, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate.

Painted Harvest – part 2

Thought today I would share a couple addition cards I’ve made using the new Painted Harvest Photopolymer stamp set. While this is a sunflower-themed set, the flower can be stamped in any color combination and even stamped and cut out for added depth to the card.

Tip: When using a photopolymer stamp set it’s good to have a surface with a little give under your paper, try the Stampin’ Pierce Mat #126199 – $5.00

The first card uses a piece of the Painted Autumn Designer Series Paper as a mat and has a hand cut sunflower backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Stampin the greeting and little dots in Early Espresso to match the mat makes this card pop.

For the second card, which is a birthday card using a greeting from Rose Garden, features Sweet Sugarplum and Fresh Fig, two colors that really look good together.  I just love the versatility of this stamp set, remember the color combinations are endless, have fun and experiment with inks you never know what you might end up with. Try Pool Party and Dapper Denim or even Powder Pink with Berry Burst, remember to stamp the light color first then darker color or use the same color and stamp off for the first layer and full strength on top.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.

So Many Shells – So Many Ways

Happy Labor Day! hope you are able to spend some time relaxing, both Nitro and Diesel are relaxing themselves with me on the porch today. I was hoping for some final pool time, but the pool is like an ice cube – just way to cold, guess next weekend we’ll be closing it up for the season.

I thought, since it’s the last official day of summer, that I would share a couple cards made with the So Many Shells Photopolymer Stamp Set.  Let these friendly phrases wash over you like a salty sea breeze. Photographic-inspired shells and lovely sentiments will make your projects extraordinary. Set includes 18 stamps.

The first card features the So Many Stamp set along with the Happy Celebrations Photopolymer stamp set and it’s matching textured impressions embossing folder duo – Celebrations. First I ran the Whisper White card stock base through the Big Shot using the ‘Happy’ embossing folder, then stamped shells in Smoky Slate, Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral and finished with greeting in Memento Black. Final touch was a spritz of Clear Wink of Stella and from Stampin’ Write Markers matching the ink colors.

The second card is a “happy mail card” I received from my up-line Denise in recognition of sales goals I hit over the last few months, what a pleasant surprise!  The card uses the Sheet Music background stamp, stamped on Whisper White and stamped with shells and some shells added that have been stamped, hand cut out and backed with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Linen thread bow and stamped sentiment finishes the card.

Thank you for taking the time to stop by, hope you are inspired to try making cards.
