PCC236 Square Sketch with Confetti Celebrations

Hope you are having a good weekend, the weather was beautiful here on Saturday, high of 73 and mostly sunny. I decided it wa a good day to get the car washed and boy does it look nice, unfortunately with thunderstorms expected today I’m sure it will get dirty quickly. Now you would think with the weather this nice we would have cooked on the grill, not us, my husband wanted homemade vegatable soup so that’s what I made – it was super good, I even cooked some pasta alphabets to add like we had when I was a kid!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Square Sketch Challenge, PCC236. Click on the image below to check out their blog including cards by their design team, why not create one of your own to post as well.

I’m using the Cupcake & Carousels Designer Series Paper Stack and matching Embellishment kit along with the Confetti Celebration Stamp Set.  My cardbase is 5 1/2″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, made with Early Espresso cardstock. The mat is Very Vanilla with a strip of the designer paper with Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine wrapped around a few times before adhered to the cardbase with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Next is the Scallop Circle layered with a Very Vanilla Circle stamped with images from the stamp set. The tassle and bow are from the Embellishment Kit, punched circles in Calypso Coral and So Saffron are at the bottom right with a Happy Birthday banner in Bermuda Bay. Perfect birthday card for anyone on your list!

Need a quick card? Have some designer paper ?

Happy Saturday, it’s a beautiful morning here in Cranberry Township, the sun is currently shining and I’m sitting out on the sun porch enjoying my morning coffee. Yesterday we had a high temperature of 72 degrees, sure hope the weekend is similar.

Today I thought I would share a quick easy card with matching envelope, something I like to call a Simple Saturday card.  I know you have a stash of printed paper or as Stampin’ Up! calls it, Designer Series Paper or DSP for short, just sitting there waiting to be used.  The card use a piece of DSP 4″ x 5¼” adhered to a card base and the matching envelope was made with coordinating DSP. Your card base could be matching colored cardstock, Whisper White (like I used) or Very Vanilla.  All I did was wrap some bakers twine around the DSP and adhere directly to the card base. The greeting is from the Balloon Adventures Stamp set, which is part of a bundle with a pop up thinlit. Greeting was stamped in Peekaboo Peach and die cut with a Layering Circle Framelit, Scalloped Circle in Night of Navy was used to match the circle and then adhered with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Here is a picture of the inside were I stamped a few Peekaboo Peach balloon and greeting from the stamp set.

This is a great way to use some of that Designer Series Paper you have and may not be sure how to use, why not make a matching envelope. Click here to watch the Stampin’ Up! video on how to use the Envelope punch board.

Simple & Easy Shadow Box Card

Happy Thursday, one more day until the weekend!  Any special plans or just relaxing?  I’m hoping to craft after a busy last weekend.

Today’s card features the Balloon Adventures Bundle which includes the Balloon Adventures Photopolymer Stamp Set and matching Balloon Pop-Up Thinlits as well as the 2017 Sale-A-Bration Carried Away Designer Series Paper for a Shadow Box Card. This card looks simple at first, but when you open it – the shadow box opens.

Placement of the Pop-Up Balloon Die helps create the shadow box when the card is opened.

Measurements for the paper include:

  • Card stock for base (I used Mint Macaron)
    • 1 – 5.5″ x 10.5″
    • 1 – 4″ x 5.5″
  • Whisper White Mat for front – 3.75″ x 5.25″
  • Night of Navy – 2.75″ x 2.75″ (Layering Squares Framelits Used)
  • Whisper White for sentiment – 2.5″ x 2.5″ (Stitched Shapes Framelits Used)
  • Whisper White for inside – 3.25″ x 5.25″
  • Designer Series Paper for front – 3.5″ x 5″
  • Scraps for ballons

Shari & Dave’s Wedding

Last weekend my cousin Shari married Dave, her partner of over 20 years. Today I thought I would share with you the wedding card I made for them as well as my gift to them, thank you cards. Shari & Dave’s daughter Kenzi, along with sisters Erika and Jessie were in the wedding along with their brother Josh and Shari’s brother Jerry.

Fun time was had by everyone at this non-traditional wedding.

The wedding card is a Pop and Twist card, featuring the Falling In Love Designer Series paper and coordinating Falling in Love Cardstock (12″ x 12″). Final dimensions of the card were 4″ x 6″.

Here is the outside of the card which used the Botanical Builder Framelits for the flowers and hearts and word from Sunshine Wishes Die. I used Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper along with Pool Party ink and a sponge dauber to create the blue heart.

Inside of the card used Dragonfly Dreams Bundle, Sunshine Wishes Dies and Rose Garden Stamp set for sentiment.

Shari asked me to make thank you cards for them for the wedding and I offered to make them as their gift. Since they have been together over 20 years and nothing about the relationship is what most people would call traditional, the cards followed the same theme. I used the 2016-2018 In-Colors along with the “All Things Thanks” Stamp set to create the cards.  One of the tips from making these cards, die cut the scallop oval framelit out the mat before adhering the designer paper – know one will ever know. Here are what the cards looked like. Each had a matching Crumb Cake envelope.

PCC235 Card sketch with Sale-A-Bration items

Happy Sunday, hope you are having a great weekend. The card and St. Patrick’s Day treat bags were really enjoyed by the kids at the party, I’m already thinking about next year!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #235. Click on the image for a link to their blog to check out their design teams cards and play along if you like.

To make my card I decided to use two of the Sale-a-bration items, the Hey Chick stamp set and 6″ x 6″ Glimmer Papers in Mint Macaron, Bermuda Bay and Sweet Sugarplum. The “chick” was stamped with Archival Basic Black ink on Watercolor Paper, colored with watercolor pencils and blended with an Aqua painter. On the far left side I used the Timeless Textures stamp set to create my own background paper. Retired button and sequins used for the bling on the card. This is the perfect card to send to put a smile on someone’s face!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day, perfect way to start an early weekend (I’m on vacation today).  I’ll be making my famous Pistachio Bundt cake (which is green inside thanks to the pudding and green food coloring) to take to the party we are going to this evening.  The party has become a tradition since we meet the Gilliland’s.

Each year I take a hand made card to the hosts and they add it to the wall of cards – where they display all the cards I’ve made them over the years. This year, while the card is rather simple, I added making 15 gift bags for all the little kids, a lot of the younger couples now have kids and thought this would be a nice surprise. This year’s card features Emerald Envy card stock, ink and In-Color Designer Series Paper.  There are some retired products used, but current gold foil and the layering oval framelits could easily be used. Shamrocks are from Party City.

Here is the close up of the altered January 2017 Paper Pumpkin kit gift bags. Click, on highlight text to see the Paper Pumpkin Video. I used one of the Sponge Brayers and Emerald Envy ink pad to color the bags and filled them with some candy and necklaces for all the kids.

PCC234 – Card Sketch with Fresh Fruit

Hope you all had a great weekend. Did you remember to set your clocks ahead one hour?  I’ve spent mine doing some chores around the house and attending my cousin Shari’s wedding. Later this week I will share her card and thank you cards I made as a gift to the happy couple.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew PCC234 card sketch. Don’t forget to check out their blog to see what their design team came up with and participate. Click on the sketch below for a direct link.

My card starts with a card base made from Thick Whisper White card layered with a mat of Pear Pizzazz and Fruit Stand Designer Series Paper which has been wrapped with Real Red Bakers Twine from the Holiday Catalog.  Before the paper with the Peekaboo Peach lines was adhered I used the fine-tip glue pen and Dazzling Diamond Glitter to add a little ‘bling’ to the background, highlighting the fruit on the paper. Triple Banner punch was used for quick banner ends. The strawberries were stamped on Thick Whisper White, two have Clear Wink of Stella and one (in the middle) has Dazzling Diamond Glitter. Perfect spring fresh card for the fruit lover in your life!

Have you tried the masking technique lately?

Lately I’ve seen a lot of buzz online about “masking” and thought I would share with you a couple cards I’ve made using this technique.  It’s a rather simple technique, were you create a “mask” to hide a portion of the paper or image and stamp on the open area.

For my cards, I die cut a circle using the Layering Circle Framelits and a piece of copier paper to create the “mask”. Next using post-it tape I adhered the mask over a piece of Whisper White card, then stamped away, starting with the lightest color to the darkest. Below uses Blushing Bride, Sweet Sugarplum and Rich Razzleberry.

The card below uses So Saffron, Pumpkin Pie and Pool Party.  The Lighthouse and greeting is from the High Tides stamp set.

Why not try this technique today, it’s fun with so many possibilities!

Stampy Wackers Guy Swap

Happy Thursday, one day closer to the weekend!

I’m part of a group called Stampy Wackers and about every other month there is a swap.  A swap is where you make cards and share one with each person the group. This is a pretty cool swap in that you make your cards and mail them to the others in the swap and in turn you received everyone’s card in the mail. For this swap the theme is “Guy Swap” and there are 25 (including me) participating.

Here is the card I made for the swap using the Guy Greeting stamp set, New Hexagon Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder, Urban Underground Specialty Designer Series Paper and Embellishments.

The card base is Very Vanilla and Basic Gray was embossed and adhered with liquid glue. Tool image is stamped in Basic Gray on a Square die cut with a Stitched Shapes Framelits (Stampin’ Dimensionals were used to adhere to the card. Additional squares were die cut with the Urban Underground SDSP. Happy Birthday is stamped in Delightful Dijon. Urban Underground Embellishment finishes off the card.

Sweet Tuesday

I’m sure you have heard of Taco Tuesday or even Meatloaf Monday – were you have a specific food based on the day of the week, well I’ve switched it up to Sweet Tuesday – featuring the 2017 Sale-A-Bration stamp set Tasty Trucks and from the Annual Catalog the stamp set Bella & Friends.

While I was working on this card over the weekend, my dogs Nitro and Diesel were resting after a few hours running around the yard. In honor of them the little pup I added to the truck was colored in Early Espresso.  The dogs are black with brown and reddish highlight, same say Nitro (on the couch) reminds them of Rin-Tin-Tin.  If you don’t know who Rin-Tin-Tin (September 10, 1918 – August 10, 1932) is he was a male German Shepherd that was an international star in motion pictures. He was rescued from a World War I battlefield by an American soldier, Lee Duncan, who nicknamed him “Rinty”. Duncan trained Rin Tin Tin and obtained silent film work for the dog. Rin Tin Tin was an immediate box-office success and went on to appear in 27 Hollywood films, gaining worldwide fame. Along with the earlier canine film star Strongheart, Rin Tin Tin was responsible for greatly increasing the popularity of German Shepherd dogs as family pets.   Here is the picture of them from Sunday.

Now on to my card, which starts with a Calypso Coral card based stamped in the same color with the cupcake and ice cream cone stamps from Tasty Trucks. Using Watercolor Paper and Basic Black Archival Ink, stamped the truck, flags and on a scrap one of the dogs from Bella and Friends. Once the images where dry I used the Watercolor Pencils and Aqua Painter to color all the images. Using Paper Snips I cut out the pup, next with my Stampin’ Trimmer cut a slit in the window and slid the pup in.  Used glue dots to hold him in place. The watercolor paper was adhered with a bunch of Stampin’ Dimensionals.  For a finishing touch, I used a glue dot to adhere one of the Falling in Love Embellishments.

Hope you enjoyed the card and story of Rin-Tin-Tin.

Tic-Tac-Toe with PCC233

Hope you are having a great weekend, it’s cold here but the sun is shing. Before I get started with today’s card, I want to take time to thank the design team over at the Paper Craft Crew Blog for picking my cards as Top Picks for challenge 229 and 231, click on the numbers to see those cards.  I am truly honored to be picked!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Challenge #233 (PCC233), a Tic Tac Toe Challenge, which is definitely a challenge. After careful consideration I decided to pick the bottom line – Torn/Crumpled Paper, Flowers & Insect.

For the focal image on my card I decided to use the Oh So Succulent Bundle (stamp set & matching framelits at a 10% savings). The card starts with a Tip Top Taupe top folding card base with a piece of Mint Macaron crumpled in the hands, adhered with liquid glue and a piece of scrap burlap ribbon, adhered with glue dots, peaking out of the bottom right. Sentiment on the bottom left was stamped with Basic Black Archival Ink and is from the Oh So Succulent stamp set. For the flowers, using Watercolor water and Basic Black Archival Ink I stamped a variety of flowers and leaves. Next using my Aqua Painter and ink pads colored everything in, once dry, ran a Wink of Stella brush over them and die cut with the matching framelits. The largest flower in the center is backed with a couple dimensionals and the balance added with liquid glue or glue dots.  For the “insect” I picked the bee (in Basic Black) from the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits.

Hey Chick, have a nice day!

Happy Friday, any special plans this weekend?  Around the holidays I purchased an extra turkey and this weekend we will be having our Spring version of Thanksgiving dinner – sure looking forward to roasted turkey, homemade stuffing and buttered carrots.

Today’s card features the 2017 Sale-a-Bration stamp set, Hey Chick!, one of the most popular of the Sale-a-Bration stamp sets.  The images are just so much fun to color using either the new Watercolor Pencils with Blender Pens and Aqua Painters or just using ink with watercolor paper.

My chick was stamped on Whisper White card stock using Basic Black Archival Ink and colored with Watercolor Pencils, blended with my Blender pens.  A strip of Read Red card stock and Linen thread add a nice highlight to the card.

The Hey Chick stamp set can be yours with a $50 product purchase (before shipping/tax), get yours today!

New Sale-a-bration items

Welcome to March – National Craft Month, perfect month for all us stamper/crafters out there!

Last week Stampin’ Up! introduced three new products to the free Sale-A-Bration item choices

  • Reverse Words Stamp Set – #144316 (W) or #143319 (C)
  • Make a Medallion Stamp Set – #143274 (photopolymer)
  • 6″x6″ Glimmer Paper Assortment Pack (Mint Macaron, Sweet Sugarplum & Bermuda Bay) – #143831

Today I am featuring the Mint Macaron glimmer paper in my birthday card using the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits Dies, Balloon Adventures stamp set and Sale-a-Bration Designer Series Paper Carried Away.

Here is a video by Stampin’ Up showcasing the new Glimmer Paper:

For my card front I used the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlit to die cut the row of dragonflies using the new Mint Macaron Glimmer Paper, even used a piece behind the sentiment for a little added bling. The designer series paper is also a Sale-a-Bration item and looks nice matted on Whisper White.  Don’t forget, you can stamp the sentiment in the middle and die cut out, once you layer the designer paper over it no one will notice, great way to extend your paper use.  Just love how the card turned out, just the right amount of glimmer!

For the inside, the sentiment was stamped in Night of Navy and accented with swirls in Mint Macaron from the Balloon Adventures stamp set.
