Simple Saturday – Wetlands

Welcome to the weekend. It’s cool here and I’m getting ready for a business trip I leave Sunday for. Last night I made some cards and today I’ll be working on getting some posts ready for next week.

Today’s Simple Saturday card features the stamp set “Wetlands” and uses sponge daubers to create the colored background. To create the card I started with a card base of Soft Suede and a mat of Soft Sky. On the Whisper White piece I first used Sponge Daubers and ink pads to create the background, using (from bottom to top) Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Pool Party and Soft Sky.  The images where then stamped in Basic Black on top of the colored area. Any of the greetings in the stamp set work well with this design.

Sneak Peek, new In-Colors

Hope you are all having a great week, I’ve had fun the past couple evenings playing with some of the new product I was able to pre-order from the new catalog since I attended On Stage Live in Salt Lake City this month. This is definitely a great perk of being a Stampin Up demonstrator. Check out my ‘Join my Team’ page for more information about joining the Stampin Up family today.

As promised here are a couple cards introducing the new 2016-2018 In-Colors:

  • Dapper Denim
  • Emerald Envy
  • Flirty Flamingo
  • Peekaboo Peach
  • Sweet Sugarplum

All colors are great, we shouldn’t have favorites, but in case you would like to know, mine is Sweet Sugarplum. Wait until you see and feel the new In-Color ribbons, they are divine.

The first card is this past Simple Saturday card  using the Watercolor Wings stamp set:

Next card uses the Kinda Eclectic stamp set, one of favorites to use with all the In-Colors regardless of year:

How to use Washi Tape on a Card . . .

Happy Tuesday, hope all is well with you. My Stampin Up new catalog Pre-order (one of the perks of being a demonstrator)  was delivered yesterday and over the next few evenings I will be playing with the products, look for some cards using some new 2016-2018 In-Colors and stamp sets. The actual catalog goes live June 1st.

Today’s card features Washi Tape and tone on tone stamping using Hello Honey and the Birthday Blooms stamp set. To get started I stamped the flower and dots from Birthday Blooms, followed by Happy Birthday from the Rose Wonder stamp set in Bermuda Bay. Next, using the Bohemian Washi Tape I tore three pieces and layered them under the flower. To finish off the card I wrapped some Bermuda Bay bakers twine around the card a few time and tied a bow!

Now, it’s this a cute simple card and easy way to use that Washi Tape we both know you have in your stash!

Butterflies Simple Saturday

Happy Saturday, any special plans? I’ll be doing some errands with my husband, we are looking for some new outdoor furniture for our patio. We have a new fountain and would like a few new other items as well.

Today’s card is for my Simple Saturday series, clean and simple card with one stamp set. My card features the retiring 2014-2016 In-Colors and the Watercolor Wings stamp set.   The butterflies are a three step stamp process. For my card I used Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist and Blackberry Bliss for the butterfly, the body of the butterfly is Mossy Meadow and sentiment uses Lost Lagoon.  Stop by next week for a sneak peek to see the same card made using the new 2016-2018 In-Colors (Dapper Denim, Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum).

Tea anyone?

So how has your week been going? Order anything from the retired list? The stamp set/framelit bundle featured on today’s card, A Nice Cuppa, is one the list, so if you like the card or have a tea/coffee drinker you like to make cards for this is a bundle for you!

Today’s card is a Fancy Cut Card, with a split in the front. To create the card, once you have folded in half, I cut both  1¼” and 1″ off the front of the card, using the 1 ¼” piece for the bottom and the designer series paper is a 4″x4″ square with 1″ cut off for the bottom. Once you have the designer series paper adhered, space out with the smaller piece lined up with the bottom and take your decorated Whisper White rectangle or tag (backed with dimensionals) and place over the front, this adheres the card base together in the front with a 1″ gap.  Pretty cool if you ask me.

Close up of the split in the front, the rectangular piece holds the two pieces together.

Sudsol Swaps – Cards and Gifts

Happy Saturday, while you are reading this good chance I am at the On Stage event today here in Salt Lake City.

I’m a member of the on-line Stampin Up demonstrator group Sudsol (Simply Unique Demonstrators Sharing OnLine) and on Friday here at On Stage they hosted a card swap and gift exchange, both of which I decided to take part in. Today I am sharing with you the card and gift I made.

The card for this swap features the Birthday Blossoms Stamp set and Blackberry Bliss Cardstock/Ink. The card has a flap with stamped image and sentiment under the one you see on top. Embellishment is a flower made with the Botanicals Builder Framelit Dies with a Metal Rimmed Pearl in the center.

There was a gift exchange that I also participated in. You needed to make a gift in the $5-$10 range, I used a pattern from the Sudsol site for a Card Organizer, binding it with my Cinch Binder and included six handmade cards.

Yesterday I participated in a swap with the facebook group I belong to, Convention Bound Forever, while I know we no longer call it a convention, the group was started during the time they were and it brings make nice memories, glad we kept the name.  To make my card for this swap I’m featuring three stamp sets – Timeless Textures, Wild about Flowers and Sheltering Tree (sentiment). Base is Soft Suede, next is a piece of Very Vanilla with three different images from Timeless Textures stamped around the edges using Crumb Cake, Sahara Sand and Soft Suede. Simple Saturday Sheltering Tree

It is April isn’t it?  I woke up to this today.  It’s so weird to think in four days I’m leaving for Stampin’ Up! On Stage Live in Salt Lake City and packing winter/spring clothes, this event replaces the conventions that were held in July when you worried about sweating and packed light clothes. Hopefully we will have nice weather, anything better than 30 degrees and snow works for me!

snow

For today’s Simple Saturday card I decided on the Sheltering Tree Photopolymer Stamp set. It’s a fun set as you can create all four seasons with this stamp set. For my card I decided on a summer tree, funny considering today’s weather. Card base is Chocolate Chip and the image is Very Vanilla. Tree trunk and swing are stamped with Chocolate Chip and the leaves are Old Olive with blooms in the tree using a variety of colors.  Bike is stamped in Real Red with a Night of Navy body. For interest I cut the sentiment in two pieces so I layer the words in the center of card.

CYCI #114 Botanical Blooms

Hope all is well with you this week, it’s a busy week for me with work as its a quarter end close and when you are in finance is means some late nights. After a rather stressful day nothing is more relaxing for me than design and put together a card.

Today’s card is for the Can You Case It weekly challenge. I’ve not participated in a challenge for quite a while, but when I saw this sketch I knew I wanted to make a card. Make sure to check out their blog for other cool designs. Click the sketch for a link there.

CYCI114-232x300

Two for tea and Going Global

Today I am featuring closes ups and supply listes for  two of the cards my Sunday Stampers made this past weekend. The cards featured the Have a Cuppa and Going Global Suite of products. If you were lucky enough to get the Sky is the Limit Sale-A-Bration stamp set, it pairs nicely with the Going Global suite.

Close up of the Going Places Card. This card can be used for a variety of occasions including Fathers Day, Birthdays or just because I’m thinking of you.  Hint for using the vellum cardstock, adhere the designer series paper banners to the vellum first then on the backside of the vellum I knew where I could add some adhesive to adhere to the designer series paper. The mini brads in the corner not only help hold the vellum down, but look manly.

April Sunday Stampers

How’s your weekend so far? I’ve been busy, Nitro did good at the vet Saturday, he’s up to 16 pounds and the doctors says he should be starting to really grow and hit 60 pounds pretty quickly, if we can only get him house broken all will be good.  Today is a big sports day at our house, we will be watching the first Pirate game and the last home Pens game of the season – made a bunch of finger foods to snack on during the day.

This morning my Sunday Stampers meet and we made the cards below. You might remember one for a week or so ago as a Simple Saturday card, the other take a little time so I decided on an easy third card.  Stop back Tuesday for how we made the other two cards.
