Wildflower Birthday FMS221

Happy Sunday, hope the weather is as nice for you today as it is here, it’s in the low 60’s and the sun is out. I’m just sitting her relaxing on the sun porch  enjoying the beautiful weather watching the planes high in the sky go by wondering just were the people are going, hopefully somewhere fun!

While checking out a few blogs I saw the banner for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge and thought I would give it a try. Another good reason to play along with this challenge is Karren  is the hostess and I rather like the name!

FMS221

My card features two of the products from the 2016 Sale-A-Bration catalog, the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper and the Perfect Pairing Stamp set (great basics).  For the card base I used Lost Lagoon, next is a mat of Blackberry Bliss with a piece of the Wildflower Fields Designer Series Paper. To create the shaker focal image I first started with  a piece of vellum cardstock black heat embossed with the Happy Birthday. Next using dies from Lots of Labels Framelits, not only did I make the frame (which the vellum is attached to) but used  the die to cut the sentiment and another piece of designer series paper to use as the back of the shaker. Fun foam and blue/white sequins from my stash create the shaker. The entire piece is then glued to the card. It was such a fun card to make!

Happy Birthday Baby Brother

Today is my baby brother Michael’s birthday and this is the card I sent him, guess how old he is? Seems like just yesterday  he was a little blonde haired kid complaining about getting his face wet in the swimming and now he’s all grown up. Here is a picture of us from this past summer in Wildwood NJ, the place we vacationed as a family when we were younger.

Mike and Karen

For this card I decided on a side fold long card, it starts with a Basic Black card base, 4.25″ x 11″ scored at 5.5″, with a mat of Mint Macaron and piece of Paper from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper. There is another piece of It’s My Party paper on Mint Macaron, backed with dimensionals, that the numbers are resting on. Sentiments on the from are from Number of Years and Party with Cake stamp sets.

Michael Outside

Here is the inside of the card. The Sahara Sand card stock is 4″ x 10″, folded at 5″ and the ends have a 1″ piece of the same designers series paper that was used on the front of the card.

Here is a close up of the balloons on the inside stamped from the Honeycomb Happiness Stamp set, which is one of the items you can choose from in the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Keep in mind for every $50 before tax and shipping you can pick an item, so a hundred dollar order equals two items from the Sale-A-Bration catalog.

Place setting anyone?

Happy Friday and welcome to the weekend, now its time to kick back, relax and enjoy some down time 🙂

When I first saw the Cups & Kettle Framelits I did not think of the tea cups as much as the fork, knife and spoon and how cool that would look on a card – today’s card satisfies that thought.

To make my card I started with a Sahara Sand card base 4.25″ x 11″, scored at 5.5″ for a top folding card. Next is a mat of Delightful Dijon and a piece of paper from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack. The utensils are from the Cups & Kettle framelits in Delightful Dijon, sentiment from the Sale-A-Bration set Perfect Pairing.

CYCI#104 – Global Valentine

Happy Hump Day, we made it half way through the week, only two days until the weekend! Hopefully the east coast will have an uneventful weather weekend. I’m looking forward to some crafting time and a massage I have scheduled for Saturday!

Today’s card is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge which happens to be a sketch this week.

After a little thought I decided on a masculine Valentine Card using the Going Places Suite from the Occasions Catalog. My card starts with a Very Vanilla card base with the front covered in a piece of paper from the Going Places Designer Series Paper Stack. The partial circle, cut from a framelit, is also with paper from the same stack. The heart, from the  Mini Treat Bag Thinlits, is die cut in Dazzling Diamond Glimmer paper and colored using a sponge dauber and Delightful Dijon ink. Sentiment is from the Going Global stamp set, using Memento Black ink and Very Vanilla card stock, backed with dimensionals. Card is perfect for that special man in your life!

Happy Birthday Kenzi !

Hope everyone on the east coast survived Snow Storm Jonas, we only had about 2″ of snow here north of Pittsburgh. I’ve been watching the weather channel off and on and my heart goes out to all the people impacted by the storm. My brother in New Jersey has quite a bit of snow, they’ll be spending today digging out. This summer we visited Wildwood New Jersey and it just breaks my heart to see all the flooding there. My thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted by this storm.

Today’s card is the birthday card for my god-daughter Kenzi, she turns 18. This year she will graduate from high school and decide on which college she will attend, both her sisters went to Wittenberg, wonder if that’s where she will go, only time will tell?

Here is a picture of Kenzi with my Aunt Helen and Uncle Jerry, but known to her as grandma & grandpa at Senior Night for her Soccer Team this fall.

Kenzi with Aunt Helen

Now on to the card, the Party with Cake bundle and Large Number Framelits Die are the featured products for the card. On the outside I used a piece of It’s My Party Designer Series Paper and Circle Framelit to create the opening for a shaker card filled with multi colored sequins from my stash.  The Happy Birthday is one of the dies from the Party Pop-Up Thinlits, after running through the Big Shot I just snipped off the ends and glued the image to the window sheet. The card base is Sahara Sand and there is a mat of Melon Mambo behind the designer series paper. For the inside I used the other die in the set and ran through using Whisper White card stock (not the thick choice, just didn’t come out right when I did it). I backed the cut out image with Melon Mambo cardstock. The Large Numbers Framelits were used to die cut the 18 and all sentiments are from the Party with Cake Stamp Set. The Party Pop-Up Thinlits and Party with Cake Stamp set can be purchased as a bundle for a savings of 15% – this set with the Large Numbers is a must have for all people who love to make birthday cards, the thinlits make doing a pop-up card super easy!

Kenzi Outside Card

Here is the inside, which is much easier than it looks, just make sure the arrows on the die match up to the fold when you run it through the big shot. Another hint – have the fold on the “peak” side, just seems to work better that way.

Simple Saturday – Birthday Blooms

Happy Saturday, is the snow from Winter Storm Jonas falling where you are? If you are it’s the perfect day to stay in and be a little crafty. We are on the outer fringe of the storm and only have a few inches and will most likely clear the driveway a little later today, still the perfect day for me to be crafty and make lasagna for dinner. When I heard about the storm approaching I ran to the store for the ingredients, a perfect cold weather food!

Today’s card for Simple Saturday which is a quick, easy and one stamp set card, features the Birthday Blooms Stamp Set and the Perfectly Artisitic Designer Series Paper (DSP). This DSP paper is one of the two limited time items in the Sale-A-Bration catalog and features twelve different colors, one on each side, now how cool is that.  For my card I used a card base of Smoky Slate, mat of Basic Gray with a piece of the Perfectly Artistic DSP stamped in Basic Gray using the flower and birthday sentiment.

CYCI#103 – Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Wednesday and Birthday to me! I’m one of those people who enjoy advertising their birthday, how else do you get presents? I’m also known for spreading out my birthday over a week or so, again why not?  Rule number one in our house is no cooking on my birthday, so cereal and fruit for breakfast and my husband will be taking me out to dinner.  Fun fact, today is also my cousin Aaron and fellow coworker, Kevin’s birthday, so Happy Birthday to my birthday buddies as well!  🙂

Today’s card is perfect for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge – It’s our Birthday!

My card features a piece of designer series paper from the It’s My Party Designer Series Paper Stack, Lots of Labels Framelits and Perfect Pairing Stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration brochure. The card is a shaker with glitter, silver, white and clear sequins and seed beads from my stash, love how they sparkle when you shake it!  It’s a Whisper White card base, Basic Black mat and frame around the opening.

Going Places – Hello

Happy Monday, hope you had an enjoyable weekend. All that warmer than normal weather is gone and winter is here, sure wish we could get those 60 degree days back. For me it’s always a fun weekend when I get to stamp with my Sunday Stampers, for some reason I always seem to take a nap when it’s all over 🙂

Today’s card features the products from one of the new product suites in the 2016 Occasions Catalog – Going Places, pages 38-39. My card features the new Going Places Designer Series Paper, World Traveler Textured Impressions Embossing folder and Going Places Stamp set.  I used vellum with the embossing folder and layered it over a piece of designer series paper. World stamp is embossed in black on Delightful Dijon, and the hexagon punch was used for banner ends on the greeting.  The “Hello” is from the Tin of Cards stamp set.

Today I am featuring the cards that my Sunday Stampers made today. We used the new Precision Base Plate (a recent purchase of mine) along with some products from the new Occasions & Sale-A-Bration catalog. One product I did not purchase and wish I did was the new Big Shot Die Brush – a must have for detailed thinlits!

First is the Valentine’s Day card  using the new Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Die cut with Red Glimmer Paper adhered to a Blushing Bride card base and mat (which was run through the Big Shot using the Boho Chic Embossing folder).

Simple Saturdays – Lego Birthday

Happy Saturday, welcome to the weekend. Today I am starting a new series of cards that are simple and easy to make, featuring just one stamp set per card – “Simple Saturdays”. I know a lot of us like to use multiple stamp sets when making cards, sometime we just need something easy and simple, hence cards posted on Saturdays will be simple & easy.

Let’s get started on the first Simple Saturday card it’s for a boys birthday, it features the Boys Will Be Boys stamp set, perfect for boys or men of any age – who doesn’t like lego’s?  Lego images where stamped using Memento Black ink on scraps of Real Red & Crushed Curry card stock and cut out with Paper Snips and attached with dimensionals, the Marine Mist piece was stamped directly on the Whisper White and colored with a marker I had in my stash. A couple pieces of card stock for mats (Real Red & Marina Mist) with a Whisper White card base and a birthday card is born! Perfect for a little one to go with a set of lego’s!

Botanical Blooms

Hi there, hope you are having a good week.

Today’s card features the Botanical Blooms bundle (mentioned in Monday’s Post). This set bring numerous idea’s into my mind.

To make my card I started with a top folding Whisper White Thick card stock card base. There is a piece of the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper 5.5″ x 2″ glued to the left front side. On the right side of the front is a piece of Mossy Meadow card stock that has been stamped with images from the Botanical Blooms Photopolymer stamp set and the leaf edgelit used on the left side. There are also Mossy Meadow leaves glued to the front of card under the flowers. For the delicate leaves and intricate flower centers I used the Precision plate with my Big Shot which helps getting the images out. Rhinestone in the center of a few flowers finish off the card.

How do you use Designer Series Paper?

Hope you all had a nice weekend. The weather here was wild, with 50 degrees and sunny on Saturday and dropping temperatures with snow showers on Sunday. Saturday was spent doing those thing we need to do, food shopping, making chili for the freezer and laundry. Sunday I spent a few hours playing with the box of new products I ordered from the 2016 Occasions catalog. I’ll be sharing some samples this week with you.

I really liked the Botanical Gardens suite of products and how they coordinate with the Botanicals for You for you stamp set from the Sale-A-Bration catalog. Today’s card features the Botanical Gardens Designer Series Paper and Botanicals for You stamp set. We all now how pretty designer series paper is, sometimes it’s difficult to decide how to use it, todays card shows you how you can use it for the background.

This suite has a  coordinating bundle – Botanicals Blooms (stamp set with matching dies) and when you purchase the bundle and designer series paper for $62.75  you can pick a Sale-A-Bration item.

My card features the Just for You stamp heat embossing in Black on Whisper White with Mint Macaron flowers (from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack). Card base and image mat is Hello Honey, the designer series paper acts as a mat on the card base. Rather simple card to make with a stunning presentation!

Who doesn’t like a birthday hat?

Who doesn’t like a birthday hat, especially one you don’t have to wear. As promised here is another birthday card featuring additional products from the Birthday Bouquet suite in the 2016 Occasions catalog, page 9.

This card features the Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper, Honeycomb Embellishments and Pool Party 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon. Using my Stampin Trimmer and a piece of designer series paper I created a triangle to use for the party hat and another to use for the background. The hat was then matted on Pool Party and the background on Whisper White, Watermelon Wonder was used for the card base. Once the hat was matted and cut out, using glue dots, added the new Pool Party 3/8″ Glitter Ribbon to the bottom and included a bow, dimensionals used to add to the card. The honeycomb embellishment has adhesive already on it and was added to the top. Sentiment is stamped on Whisper White, banner cut edge and adhered with a glue dot.

Today’s the day – new 2016 Occasion & Sale-A-Bration catalogs!

Today both the new 2016 Occasion and Sale-A-Bration catalogs go live, what an exciting day at Stampin Up. There are tons of great products in the new 2016 Occasions catalog and for the first time as part of the Sale-A-Bration catalog there will be limited time items (while supplies last), how cool is that.

While some demonstrators have been sharing a variety of sneak peeks over the last few weeks (as demo’s we can preorder product), I decided to wait until today for my big product debut using the Birthday Blooms Stamp set. Over the next few days I will share a few more ideas using some of the other products from the Birthday Bouquet product suite.

To make my card, I started with one of the flowers from the new Birthday Blooms Stamp set, using Versamark ink I stamped the image on Watercolor paper, sprinkled with Black Stampin’ Emboss powder and heat set. Next was the fun part, using my Aqua Painters I colored in the flowers and leaves, once dry, cut out the image with paper snips. If you compare stamp to my cutout you will notice I did not include part of the flower/leaves in the final image. Background for the card was made using the Hardwood stamp inked with Mint Macaron stamped on Mint Macaron card stock, backed with Mossy Meadow on Very Vanilla. The sentiment, Happiest of Birthdays to you is also stamped with Mint Macaron on Mint Macaron for a subtle image, I wanted the flower to be the star of the card.

Revised card for 1.5

Cherry on Top Birthday!

Happy Sunday, hope all is well with you. Yesterday was one of those days were I just felt like cleaning out some cupboards/drawers/closets – as they say out with the old in preparation for the new. This included my craft space in preparation for the new 2016 Occasions and Sale-A-Bration products. I’ll be placing my order Tuesday morning. Are you looking forward to the start of the new catalog and all the cool new items? Stop back on Tuesday for a link to the new catalog and a card made with all new products.

One of the items I received for Christmas was  a print out of the family tree on my fathers side of the family. I tallied up the birthdays by month for my aunts, uncles and their families – in January there are seven birthdays, including mine and my brothers.  There are three months with seven birthdays, so I thought a birthday card was perfect for today.

To make my card for today, I started with a piece of Bermuda Bay cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″, scored at 5 1/2″, for a top folding card.  Using a few post-it notes I adhered the stripes mask to the front half of the card and sponged Bermuda Bay over the open areas to create the background. Next is a piece of paper from the Cherry on Top designer series paper stack, adhered to the upper left corner with a similar border on the top and side. Sentiment is from the Tin of Cards Photopolymer stamp set in Bermuda Bay on Whisper White, matted with Bermuda Bay. In my stash I had vintage Watermelon Wonder Thick Bakers Twine which I wrapped around the top and added a double bow to finish it off. This piece is backed with dimensionals and angled on the card.
