Summer Memories

Happy Monday, hard to believe tomorrow is September 1st, were did the summer go?  Funny how now that most kids are back to school we are planning to have one of the hottest weeks in a while, sure hope those kids have air conditioning at school.

Today I thought I would share with you a little project I completed after the Stampin’ Up! Convention in Salt Lake City this summer, it’s a mini scrapbook made from bags.  To get started a used some Tag-a-Bag gift bags to create a mini scrapbook. It was rather easy, I took four bags, cut off the edge to make then straight across, folded them in half, punched two holes that I threaded dotted lace ribbon through and secured with a bow to hold the bags together. Creating the book this way provided four pockets that I made note cards for to add additional pictures/notes about just what I did at convention.

Creative Crew book

There are pieces of card stock all stamped with the same flower on each right hand side page and note cards use two scalloped circle punch pieces as the pull tag. This was a fun way to pull together some photo’s and memories of my trip.

Happy Saturday, hope all is well with you. It’s nice to be back in the groove at home again. Last night I had a nice dinner with my husband for his birthday. For a few short months we are the same age, then in January I become the older women.  Today I am looking forward to some time for card making. They’ve opened a Home Goods store close by and I would like to check it out , have a feeling something new will be coming home with me!

Thought I would ease into card making again and am starting with the Freshly Made Sketches weekly challenge created by Narelle. Here is the sketch:FMS Final 201-001

My card features a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, Calypso Coral and Basic Black card stock. The larger butterfly, in Calypso Coral is actually heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder for a little sparkle. This will make the perfect birthday card with a Happy Birthday stamped inside. For a finishing touch I added some pearls down the center of the small butterfly.

Happy Birthday Uncle Dan!

Today’s post is by my niece Maya. I spent a few days with my brother and his family earlier in the week and Maya wanted  to share with you the card she made for Uncle Dan for his birthday today.

Here is the card I made for Uncle Dan to go with the caramels and gift card for his birthday. I made the card with blue and brown cardstock that matched the designer series paper. The chalkboard tag is from the craft store and I wrote Happy Birthday with a white paint marker.

Watercolor for you!

Happy Thursday night, I’m relaxing after a day of software training here in Secaucus NJ. Had a nice dinner with my fellow employees. Some of the New York Giants football players are staying at the same hotel and I rode the elevator with them, talk about some great looking arms (just loved watching the  rippling muscles), I mean guys!

Now on to today’s card. It features images from the Market Fresh stamp set that have heat embossed with Black Stampin Embossing powder and water colored with ink pads and Aquapainters. Background features paper from the Farmers Market Designer Series paper, Cherry Cobbler card stock and  Crumb Cake base.  There is a scallop circle adhered with a mini staple and a small linen thread bow for an accent.

Butterfly Thanks

Hi there, hope you are having a good week so far. This week I am in New Jersey for some training on new software for my full-time job. It’s nice getting to see some people I don’t see that often and meeting others for the first time. There are seven of us here from our company. Tonight we went to the Bonefish Grill for dinner, it was really good, I had the lobster roll sandwich and shared some Bang Bang Shrimp to start off the meal. At the end of the week my Diane and Maya will be picking me up for a long weekend with my brother and his family.  Looking forward to Friday already!

Now on to today’s card. It starts with a card base of Basic Black and features a piece of paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack and Old Olive card stock die cut with the Hexagon Hive Die using the magnetic platform and big shot. Butterflies (Bold Butterfly Framelits) and flowers (Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack) embellished with pearls are the highlight and the sentiment is provided by a Expressions Natural Element you can adhere with Crystal Effects or Tombow liquid glue.

Dino Birthday Card !

Happy Saturday, it’s been a rough weekend so far. Last night we had to rush our German Shepard Baron to the emergency vet and we ended up have to have him put down.  He had fluid around his heart, caused by a tumor. We had 11 great years with him and loved him dearly, he will be missed. Now he can play in heaven with Snowman, Princess and all the other dogs! He’ll have endless pool splashes and treats!  Here he is with one of this many stuffed toys!

CYCI#81 – Color Challenge

Happy Friday, don’t know about you but I’m looking forward to the weekend. I’ll be working on getting ready for my Sunday Stampers workshop on Sunday and packing for a business/vacation trip. The first five days are business, followed by four vacation days including a trip to Wildwood New Jersey with my brother and his family.

Today’s card is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge, created by Billie.

CYCI81-300x231

For my card I picked Night of Navy, Cucumber Crush and Elegant Eggplant to go with the new thick Whisper White Card stock. I ran each piece of the color card stock through the Big Shot using the Striped Scallop Thinlit and the Magnetic Platform. Once all the pieces were popped out I glued alternate colors in white to create the pattern. The sentiment is from Feel Goods stamp set, stamped in Elegant Eggplant on Whisper White, matted on Elegant Eggplant. On the inside of the card is “it’s your day!” in Cucumber Crush from the Fabulous Four stamp set.

Gotta Love a Lefthander!

Happy International Lefthanders Day out there! I know quite a few people who prefer to write with their left hand vs. right like me. Well, today’s cards are for you.

Since I believe in ladies first, this birthday card is for you.

Female leftie you can see open

And here is the male version,  I’ll be giving this card to my husband later this month. Once I ran the Cajun Craze cardstock through the Big Shot using the Brick Wall Textured Impressions embossing folder I used a variety of colors to add depth to the bricks with sponge daubers (Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Real Red, Crumb Cake and Craft White).  Coloring the brick is so much fun you can use any card stock and ink for such a variety. The Brick Wall folder is a must have in my book!

Male leftie can see open

As you can see both cards have the fold on the right side vs. left. and I moved the sentiment closer to the right side fold. Both cards also feature the new Stampin Up Basic Black Ink Pads that will be available with refills when the holiday catalog starts September 1st.

Happy Monday. Yesterday was not a good softball day, the team was one and done in the final day of the tournament. Made some good nacho’s to eat while watching the Steelers and Pirates since both were on Sunday night at 8pm. I had the baseball game on, fell asleep and missed the 9 run 7th inning. Oh well, maybe another day.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, check out their blog.

For my card, I started with a Very Vanilla card base. Before attaching the Basic Black mat to the card base with Stampin Dimensionals, I added a piece of Calypso Coral card stock and a piece of printed paper from the Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack. Next, I pierced three holes about 1/2″ apart and added a mini silver brad and then attached the mat. Focal image is from the Wetlands stamp set on Very Vanilla with a Basic Black mat. Banner is Calypso Coral and Happy Birthday from the Tin of Cards stamp set. To balance the brads, I added three silver foil circle backed with Stampin Dimensionals.

Freshly Made Sketches 198

So how’s your weekend been so far? I’m getting ready to go watch some softball, hopefully my husband’s team “Badd Newz” will have a good run and get to play in the finals for the Cranberry Cup, wish them luck. Thought I would share a special picture from the celebration yesterday, it’s my Aunt’s and Uncle on the Sutterlin side of the family (my dad) – in order left to right: Aunt Mary Ann, Aunt Helen, Uncle Bill (who looks more like my dad each time I see him), Aunt Dorothy and Aunt Lou Ann.

Now on to some crafting.  Today’s card is for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge.

FMS Final 198-001

My card starts with a card base of Rich Razzleberry with a mat of the same color that has been run through the Big Shot using the Boho Chic Textured Impressions Embossing folder and adhered with Stampin Dimensionals. There are two pieces of the Bohemian Designer Series Paper matted on Bermuda Bay layered over a piece of Very Vanilla. The Very Vanilla was stamped with “& LOVE” a Sneak Peek from the Holly Jolly Greetings Stamp set in the up coming 2015 Holiday catalog, can you guess the 2nd Sneak Peek?  If you guessed the die cut “Peace” are correct, its from the new Christmas Greetings Thinlits, that coordinates with the Holly Jolly Greetings Stamp Set. They will be able to be purchased September 1st and even come in a bundle that can be purchased at a 15% savings! There are a few pearl jewels for a little bling, as all girls like bling.

Happy Bday & Anniversary Aunt Helen & Uncle Jerry

Tonight we are celebrating my Aunt Helen’s 75th Birthday, Uncle Jerry’s 80th Birthday and their 50th Wedding Anniversary. Here is a picture of them with their daughter Shari, my cousin. 11203134_10206961155975910_3620702846843509170_n

My Aunt Helen is my godmother so when I heard that her kids (Jerry, Shari & Heather) wanted to have a party to honor them, I was more than happy to offer to make invitations as a contribution to the party.   I’ve been busy making the party invitation and thank you cards. Today I thought I would share them with you.

SIP#8 – Cardmakers Choice

Happy Friday! It’s been a busy work week and the weekend is rather filled as well. We have the Cranberry Cup Softball Tournament Saturday and Sunday, a party Saturday night and some general errand running to do. One thing I’m looking forward to is sleeping out on the sun porch tonight, the temperature is going down to around 60 degrees and I just love sleeping with a cool breeze blowing as I lay under a fluffy cover!

By now you should all know that any stamp set, framelit or thinlit with butterflies is one of my favorites, so when I saw the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge this week was “Cardmakers Choice”, it wasn’t hard for me to know what I wanted to do. The hardest part was waiting for my Stampin Up Holiday pre-order to arrive (I treated myself to 2nd day shipping), so I could give a sneak peek of a new embossing folder “Woodland”, I knew it would look cool with the butterflies. Click on the sketch below to check out their blog.

SIP-Any-Challenge-8

To make the card I used the new “Woodland Textured Impressions Embossing Folder”, which is available September 1st in the new 2015 Holiday Catalog, on a piece of Early Espresso card stock to create my card base. Using a sponge dauber and white craft ink I highlighted all the birch branches to make them pop and add some depth. The butterflies once die cut were coated in VersaMark, dipped in Iridescent Stampin Embossing Powder and heat set for a sparkly effect, they are adhered with dimensionals cut in tiny pieces. The sentiment is from Birthday Blossoms on Bermuda Bay, accented with rhinestone and back with dimensionals.

CYCI#80 – Hello Baby Girl!

This coming weekend is the annual Cranberry Cup Softball Tournament in our community to benefit deserving families. My husband has a team in the tournament and we’ll be seeing friends that just had a baby girl. I’ve used this weeks CYCI sketch as my inspiration for the card I will be pairing with a baby size Pittsburgh Steelers fleece blanket I made as a gift for the baby.

Don’t forget to check out the CanYouCaseIt blog my clicking on the sketch below. Elizabeth designed the sketch.

CYCI80-232x300

To make my card, I started with a card base of Blushing Bride card stock cut at 4 ¼” x 11″ and folded in the center for a top folding card. Next came a layer of Silver Glimmer paper (backed with Stampin Dimensionals), Blushing Bride and Whisper White that has been run through the Big Shot using the Decorative Dots Textured Embossing Folder (this layer is also backed with Stampin Dimensionals). There are little 1″ squares of animals from Zoo Babies on a mat of Blushing Bride, glued to the embossed layer. Sentiment is white heat embossed and accented with rhinestones (never to early for some bling!), this is also backed with Stampin Dimensionals.

So how’s everything with you today? I’ve had a pretty busy day, it started with making French toast for breakfast, hanging in the pool for a few hours, making a bunch of cards and dinner. Hanging in the pool may not seem like busy work, but when I saw the weather forecast for next weekend (trust me, it’s not pool weather) I wanted to make sure I got a few hours in. While I was in the pool I saw a doe with her babies in the woods behind my house, there were to two baby deer and they even had white spots on them, hope to see them again soon.

Now on to the card for today, it’s for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, you can check out their blog by clicking here or the sketch.

I really enjoyed making this card, just love the color combination of Cucumber Crush, Daffodil Delight & Tangerine Tango. The card features the new “Metal Rimmed Pearls”, they come in three sizes, I used the largest and smallest. The little banners at the bottom left are Silver Glimmer paper that has been colored with sponge daubers using the Cucumber Crush & Tangerine Tango ink pads. Designer Series paper is from the new 2015-2017 In-Color 12″x1 12″ stack. Card feature three of the stamps from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set, sentiment is from Something to Say stamp set. The ribbon actually wraps all the way around the card (including the inside and is topped with a bow.
