CYCI#76 – Color Challenge

Hi there, how’s the weekend going for you? It rained here all day Saturday and there even was a tornado that touched down about 2 miles from our house. Happy to report no one was hurt, but quite a few trees and power line were taken down. They said winds where 65-80 miles per hour. Today the temperature may only hit around 60°, way to cold for the end of June. We have rain the forecast again almost all week, sure wish we could send this rain to the people out west who could really use it.

My card for today is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly blog challenge. Make sure to take a minute to pop over to their blog and see the great designs by their team and other crafters like myself.

CYCI76-300x226

This weeks challenge is using the 2015-2017 In-Colors (any combination) along with a neutral color. I decided to use a new stamp set I just received, Layered Letters Alphabets,  all the In-Colors, for my neutral I picked Sahara Sand.

To get started I used a 2″ wide strip of Whisper White and punched one end with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch. Next, using the bunch of flowers stamp from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set and Sahara Sand I stamped little flowers all over the tag. Using the In-Colors and the Layered Letters Alphabets I stamped the word ‘Hello’ in – Delightful Dijon – Mint Macaron – Watermelon Wonder – Cucumber Crush – Tip Top Taupe.  A nice way to get started with the new In-Colors is to purchase the In-Color 8.5″x11″ cardstock and Stamp Pad kit, of course you can also purchase them separately as well. For the card base I stamped the flower and leaves from the Birthday Blossoms stamp set in Sahara Sand on the front of the card. Tag is adhered with dimensionals and a piece of the new 1″ Dotted Lace Trim is looped at the end and tied with a piece of Metallic Gold Bakers Twine.  On the inside I stamped the same flowers from the tag all around the edges and using Cucumber Crush stamped Happy Birthday.

Happy Birthday Diane!

Happy Birthday to my sister-in-law Diane, hope you have a wonderful day!  Today is her birthday and for her birthday I sent her a surprise package (and not a can of pineapples, click here for that story)  and a box of my favorite blog cards with envelope liners or handmade envelopes for the odd sized cards.

Thought I would share with you the birthday card I made specially for Diane. When I first saw the new In-Color Delightful Dijon, I knew it would be the perfect color to anchor her birthday card. Diane is a fall color kinda girl.

The card base is actually Very Vanilla (check out the photo of the inside below) with a piece of Delightful Dijon, stamped color on color with the flower from the Birthday Blossoms Stamp set. Before I adhered the Delight Dijon to the card base I wrapped a piece of 1″ Dotted Lace Ribbon around the left side. The squares are cut from Blackberry Bliss and Bohemian Designer Series Paper. Next I stamped three flowers, again color on color in Bermuda Bay and used the matching Pansy Punch to punch them out, they are backed with dimensionals, same as the squares. Next is Delightful Dijon Flower punched from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack with a rhinestone in the center.

SIP#2

Well it’s Thursday and we are one day closer to the weekend. After I beautiful day on Wednesday, back to rain again today, hopefully the weekend will be drier. Any special plans for this weekend? At this point mine is rather open but we all know how fast that can change, maybe something fun will pop up!

Today’s card is for the Stamp Ink Paper Challenge #2, don’t forget to check out the blog, click here.

SIP-Sketch-Challenge-2

For my card I decided to do something I rarely do, a monochromatic card, and I must say I love the results! I am in love with the new In-Color Tip Top Taupe, so to get started on the card I first picked a piece of paper from the 2015-2017 In-Color Designer Series Paper (DSP) 12″x12″ stack, cut into a 4″ x 5 ¼” rectangle and then cut 1″ off the longer side to flip and use as the smaller accent piece on the left hand side. The DSP is matted on Whisper White and all of the layers where adhered with liquid glue to the card base. Next, using a 2″ strip, I punched the top with the Ornate Tag Topper Punch, stamped with varies flowers from the stamp set  Flower Patch in Tip Top Taupe, finally cutting the tag to size and adhering with Stampin Dimensionals. Linen thread and one of the new Metal Rimmed Pearls are adhered with glue dots at the top of the tag. The word “Congrats” is from the Expressions Natural Elements and adhered with Crystal Effects. What’s really nice is that the height of the dimensional and natural element are the same.

How’s your day going? No better way to end the day than making a card and posting it on your blog. Some people can’t believe how I fit this all in, but after a full day of work I find it rather relaxing to make a card. Normally I already have a layout planned and after a few tweaks a card is usually born.

Todays card is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge, this weeks it’s a sketch challenge:

CYCI75-232x300

To get started I am using the new Stampin Up Whisper White Thick Cardstock as my card base cut to 4.25″ x 11″, scored at 5.5″. There is a Mint Macaron mat, layer with So Saffron and a piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack. For interest I used the Hearts Border punch on the one side of the So Saffron. Next I took some Linen thread looped it around to look like an “8” and attached it with some glue dots in the middle. The butterfly was stamped using the 3 step stamps in the Watercolor Wings stamp set and I used the matching die to cut out. I used the So Saffron, Calypso Coral and Watermelon Wonder stamp pads. The So Saffron butterfly is from the Butterflies Thinlits Dies. Once I adhered the butterflies together, it is adhered to the card with dimensionals. Pearls are used as an accent. The sentiment is from A Dozen Thoughts in Bermuda Bay and adhered with dimensionals.

Well here we are one day into another work week. It was a pretty good day work wise and the weather is perfect this evening to be sitting out on the sun porch, not to hot & humid for a change. Today I received an email from the airlines regarding me about my flight to convention next month (like I’d forget). Funny think is it will be here before I know it, I better start on those swaps!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, here’s the sketch:

PCCCCS104-158-016-214x300

When I saw the sketch for this weeks challenge, I knew I found a home for the Watermelon Wonder bow that had been sitting on my desk, so I just had to make a card. To get started I stamped some Crushed Curry dots using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge set on a sheet of cherry’s from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack (DSPS), which I matted on a piece of Watermelon Wonder card stock. Before adhering to the Cucumber Crush card base, I wrapping a piece of 1″ Dotted Lace Ribbon around, securing on the other side before using liquid glue to adhere to the card base. The banner is another piece of Cherry on Top DSPS, glued down. The rectangle has a sentiment from the Watercolor Wings stamp set and accents from Tin of Cards stamp set, both in Cucumber Crush. This piece is matted on Crushed Curry and backed with dimensionals. The heart is from the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits and backed with dimensionals before adhering. To top off the card, the bow is adhered with glue dots.  This is the perfect card to send to that someone special to let them know you are thinking of them.  ♥

Washi Birthday

Well it’s Sunday night and another weekend is almost over. It was humid and rainy here on Saturday, not exactly the perfect day to be running errands (you should have seen my hair by mid afternoon) but I was able to get them all done. I even finished all the cards I needed for my mail in swap, which made me feel extremely accomplished. Today the weather was nicer and I was able to spend a few hours in the pool today. Talked with my brother this evening and it looks like in July they may be mixing some college visits for the nephew with a visit to Aunt Karen’s.  Woohoo!!!

Sometime you just need a quick easy card and that’s when Washi tape can be your best friend. With Washi tape all you need is some coordinating card stock (including Whisper White or Very Vanilla) and some sentiments and cards are born.

To get started on my card I picked three of the rolls of the Cherry on Top Washi tape and put strips across the card at an angle. In the lower right corner of the Whisper White is the Happy Birthday from the Tin of Cards Photopolymer Stamp set stamped in Crushed Curry. The Whisper White is matted on Crushed Curry, backed with dimensionals on a card base of Cucumber Crush. A nice simple card that can be used for a variety of occasion!

CYCI#74 Summer Fun Edition

Todays card is for the CanYouCaseIt weekly challenge, this week is the “Summer Fun Edition”.  What do you think of when someone says ‘summer’?

When I think of the summer one of the first things that come to mind are the ice cream cones we would get to end the evening on the boardwalk in Wildwood, New Jersey. From age 6 until around 25 each summer I would spend a week at the beach in Wildwood, first with my family and then as I got older with friends. Those are some wonderful memories, they range from: Mario’s pizza, the Hot Spot, Nickel pitch,  the recording “watch the tram car please” to my dad breaking his leg doing a wheelie on a bike and the first time my now husband saw the ocean!

CYCI74-300x259

To make my card I knew I wanted to use Silver Stampin’ Embossing Powder and Dazzling Diamond Stampin Glitter to make the ice cream sparkle. I used some of my favorite new In-Colors, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder. The cone is in Tip Top Taupe and the ice cream is Bermuda Bay, Watermelon Wonder & Crushed Curry. Each scoop was heat embossed with Silver Stampin’ Embossing Powder and dusted with some Dazzling Diamond Stampin Glitter.  The card base is Tip Top Taupe, with a mat of Watermelon Wonder and Whisper White, which was run through the Big Shot using the Boho Chic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. Before that layer was adhered to the card with dimensionals, a piece of Tip Top Taupe 1″ Dotted Lace Trim was wrapped around close to the bottom. The ice cream cone is backed with dimensionals. There is a piece of Watermelon Wonder stamped with the word Celebrate from the May Paper Pumpkin Kit (a monthly club where you get a book of craft goodies once a month). Card was finished with a couple rhinestones.

MOJO402

Hi there, how is everything going with you? Do any stamping or crafting lately? This Sunday morning I was busy with my Sunday stampers and took a nice nap in the afternoon once I put away all the supplies.  When stamping is at my house we seem to use soooooo many supplies, best I guess that’s the advantage to the stampers of been at my house. In the evenings I’ve been working on a special project I will share with you in August, let’s just say I’m a card making machine between this project and swap cards for convention.

My card for today is for this weeks Mojo Monday challenge. I just love the idea of three circles, while I kept to the circles for my card, its given me some ideas for some swap cards for convention. Mojo402

To make my card, I used paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack and coordinating card stock. The card base is Whisper White with a mat of Bermuda Bay layered with a piece of Cherry on Top paper, the two banners are also from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper.  I used the Circles Collection Framelits to cut three circles one each in Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Watermelon Wonder with my Big Shot. Next, I ran the circles through the Big Shot using the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing folder.  The Whisper White circle was made with the 1 3/4″ circle punch and the sentiment is from the Tin of Cards stamp set, stamped in Bermuda Bay. The large Bermuda Bay circle is glued to the mat, but the other circles are backed with dimensionals for depth. As an accent, using Watermelon Wonder I die cut a small butterfly and added a few rhinestones.

Butterfly Sunday

Tomorrow is the monthly meeting of my Sunday Stampers. Thought I would share with you one of the cards we will be making using the new Watercolor Wings Bundle – featuring the Watercolor Wings Stamp Set and Bold Butterfly Framelits – both new items in the catalog.

To get started on my card I used the colors in the Bohemian Designer Series Paper for my color palette, there is even a 1″ strip as an accent on the card. The card base is one of the new 2015-2017 In-Colors – Delightful Dijon, followed by a mat of Bermuda Bay that had been run through the Fluttering Textured Impressions Embossing folder. What’s really nice about this new embossing folder is the size, its 4 ½”x6 3/8″, which means it does not matter if the card is a horizontal or vertical layout you can emboss with the folder. Nothing is worse sometime than wanting to use a embossing folder on a horizontal card and it doesn’t work.  Next layer is a strip of Bohemian DSP with banner ends that was centered and glued down. Next layer is a Metallic Foil Doily centered and backed with dimensionals. For the focal image I used the Watercolor Wings stamp set and the three larger butterfly stamps, stamped the butterfly light to dark (Delightful Dijon, Bermuda Bay, Blackberry Bliss) on Very Vanilla. This was then die cut using one of Bold Butterfly Framelits. Then using the Butterflies Thinlits, I die cut the matching size butterfly in Delightful Dijon. Pearls are used for some accent. Inside is one of the greetings from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set. Hope the ladies like the card tomorrow.

SIP#1 – Stamp Ink & Paper

Hi there, how’s the week going for you? I’m sitting here watching the CMT Music Award show red carpet show waiting for the show to start. Looking forward to seeing some of my favorite country artists perform, that includes Darius Rucker, Jason Aldean and Carrie Underwood. For Carrie it’s her first performance since having her baby earlier this year.

Today’s card is for a new Challenge blog that started this week – Stamp Ink Paper or SIP for short. This blog is lead by Justin Krieger (a very talented crafter) and a group of additional talented paper crafters, make sure to check out the blog. Their first challenge is a Card Makers Choice – using your favorites (stamps, ink & paper). For me what to use came rather easy, one of my go to stamp sets from Stampin Up is Butterfly Basics and I’ve been dabbling around with the new Watercolor Wings Bundle (stamp set with matching Bold Butterfly Framelits).

SIP-Any-Challenge-1-791x1024

Started with a card base of Sahara Sand and layered a variety of images from the Butterfly Basics stamp set and the type looking circles from Kinda Eclectic. Next using the Watercolor Wings stamp set I stamped the butterfly using daubbers and ink pads – Crushed Curry, Watermelon Wonder & Elegant Eggplant for coloring.  Used the new Bold Butterfly Framelit first, then die cut a Crushed Curry butterfly from Butterflies Thinlits, matched them up and glued them together. Butterfly is attached with glue dots and rhinestones add a little bling. For something different I stamped Happy Birthday vertical instead of horizontal and added a rhinestone.

Fav new Color Combo – Mint Macaron & Lost Lagoon

So how was your weekend, mine was filled with events followed by a busy Monday at work. Saturday we went to a 60th Birthday party (card & gift bag in this post) and Sunday there was a family gathering for my cousin Shari’s daughter Erika. Erika graduated from Wittenberg University, post for the graduation card is here.  Memorial Day weekend she let for Tennessee and her new job. Her mom decided since she was home for a few days it was the perfect time for a family gathering. Nice to see family and wish Erika well in at her new job in a  new city!

Today’s card is the one I gave Erika and features one of my favorite new color combination of In-Color’s  – Mint Macaron (2015-2017) & Lost Lagoon  (2014-2016). The card base and cross hatch stamp are both Mint Macaron. The cross hatch stamp was inked up, stamped off on scrap paper then onto the Whisper White. The mat paper behind the Whisper White, flower stamp and sentiment are in Lost Lagoon.  For an accent I tied a piece of the new 1″ Dotted Lace Trim around the layer and backed it with dimensionals before adhering to the card.

Happy Birthday Walt!

Well it’s Sunday and I was able to sleep in just a little, the boys (Bandit & Baron – our dogs) don’t see to know the difference sometime between workday and weekend. Last night we went to a 60th Birthday party for our friend Walt and I thought I would share his card and gift bag with you today.

Here is a picture of the card and gift bag my husband and I took to the birthday party last night. With the Sprinkles of Life stamp set you can have a card and customized gift bag for any occasion.

Happy Saturday. I’ve a busy day planned today, need to do some food shopping, need to make a card for graduation party Sunday and have a 60th Birthday party tonight. Tomorrow I will share the card and gift for tonight. Weather here to day is cloudy but they say it will get sunny and less humid as the day goes on. Let’s hope they are right! Hope you have some fun plans today.

Today’s card is for the weekly Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, you can check out their blog here.

PCCCS105-159-015-2-300x232

For my card I stayed rather true to the sketch, my major change was replacing the three triangles with new 2015-2017 In-Color Blossom Accents that I added rhinestones in the middle of for a little bling. To start the card I picked a piece of paper from the Cherry on Top Designer Series Paper Stack, matted it on a piece of Tip Top Taupe using Whisper White as the card base. In the center, using the swoosh from the Work of Art stamp set and stamped three of the new 2015-2017 In-Colors (Watermelon Wonder, Cucumber Crush & Delightful Dijon) on Whisper White. The sentiment and flower is from the Sprinkles of Life stamp set, this piece is also matted on Tip Top Taupe and popped up with dimensionals.

Here is the inside of the card, using the same “three’s” from the front, I stamped the ice cream cone and three scoops (icing, clouds) from Sprinkles of Life stamp set and finished with Happy Birthday from Remembering Your Birthday.

So how is everything with you? Things are pretty good here. Looking forward to the weekend, hopefully the weather will be better than they say, rain should only be allowed Monday-Thursday is my option.

My order of new Stampin Up products came, I treated myself to 2nd day delivery so will have some new stamps to play with over the weekend. Look for some cool cards in the future days.

Today’s card is for the Freshly Made Sketches weekly challenge.

FMS Final 189-001

To make the card I started with a card base of Very Vanilla. The mat is Blackberry Bliss run through my Big Shot with the new Boho Chic Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. This was glued to the card base. The circle and rectangle where made with paper from the new ‘Bohemiam Designer Series Paper’. One of the cool products in the new catalog is the Cardstock Pack you can purchase that coordinates with the designer paper. It’s a great way to have exactly the card stock needed to match the paper. I’ve used the Blackberry Bliss and Bermuda Bay with my card. Sentiment is from Pictogram Punches and the ♥ punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack. The heart and different layers are all backed with dimensionals.

CCREW0615CF – Birthday Wishes

Happy Hump Day, boy has the weather changed around here, 80’s and humid on the weekend and needing long pants and jackets today – hey it’s summer not fall. Bring on the warmth and sunshine please.

I’ve been lucky enough to be asked to be part of the Splitcoast Stampin Up Creative Crew Group for the May-August 2015 time period. Today I thought I would share with you one of the cards I made focusing on the new catalog and a favorite item. When I first saw the catalog on online I fell in love with the Sprinkles of Life RMHC stamp set and the Tree Builder punch, I was so excited when I saw both items on the preorder list.

For every Sprinkles of Life Stamp set purchased Stampin Up will donate $3.00 to the Ronald McDonald House Charities. I just love the possibilities – cupcake, basket or tree, cloud or cupcake icing, apples, birds, oh my !!!

I started with a piece of Watercolor paper, spritzed it with water and using the Aqua Painter, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sky ink pads created the background for my stamping. Next using the Old Olive I stamped the grass/flower stems and used Watermelon Wonder, Blackberry Bliss & Delightful Dijon stamped the flowers. The tree trunk, tree leaves, apples and bluebird were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed with Clear Stampin Emboss Powder. The tree builder punch was used to punch out the pieces. Dimensionals are behind the leaves, bird and apples.

Butterfly Birthday

Happy Monday, hope you had a nice weekend. For me Saturday was busy with running errands and visiting friends, Sunday was busy with some housework and moving all the retiring product out of my main stamping area and marking the catalog to know which stamp sets, punches, embossing folders, thinlit and framelits I have, what about you do you do that? I found it helpful so I don’t accidently order something twice!

Now on to today’s card, it’s a rather easy one to put together, all you need is a thinlit,  any designer series paper (DSP) and matching card stock. To get started I used the largest Butterflies Thinlits to die cut a butterfly. Using just a few glue drops I adhered it to a piece of DSP, next using the Decorative Dots Embossing folder I ran it through the Big Shot for texture. Adhered the DSP to matching card stock and onto a Whisper White Card Base. The Happy Birthday is from the stamp set Remembering Your Birthday. It’s a fun and easy card and great way to use DSP with Thinlits!

Reminder – tomorrow June 2nd the new catalog goes live – and you will be able to order from the 2014-2015 catalog, current Occasions catalog and the new 2015-2016 catalog. Then starting June 3rd, only the new 2015-2016 catalog will be active.
