MOJO391

Today is March 31st, the last day of Sale-A-Bration 2015. It’s not to late to place an order to receive one of numerous Sale-A-Bration items. So I thought for the last day I would make a card for the Mojo Monday Challenge using Sale-A-Bration items. The card is a Tall & Skinny – mine measures 3½” x 5½” and is filled with layers.  To go along with the card, I used the envelope punch board to create a envelope perfect to size!  Here is this weeks sketch provided by Julee Tilman.

mojo391

To get started on the card I knew I wanted to use the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper accented with Coastal Cabana and Calypso Coral cardstock.  I just love how the two horizontal strips are high/low and how the 2¼” squares in the middle offset each other.  Sentiment is from the Best Day Ever stamp set and stamped in Chocolate Chip. To finish off the card, pool party bakers twine (vintage) is wrapped around the entire front panel three times and a button hides the ends. The real finishing touch is how coordinating paper was used to create a custom size envelope with the envelope punch board – a must have for card maker in all of us!

CYCI #63

Happy Monday, I wanted to get in a couple more cards before Sale-A-Bration ends tomorrow and thought the Can You Case it weekly challenge had the perfect sketch to use. Butter was this weeks special guest designer. You can see the sketch below.

CYCI63-232x300For this card I used one of my favorite newer Sale-A-Bration items, Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Paper, which comes in a 6″x6″ paper stack. I used the Butterfly Vellum and with Stampin’ Write Markers (various colors) colored each butterfly on the backside of the paper and let it dry. Once dry, using ever so tiny dots of liquid glue, adhered the vellum to Whisper White. The card base and ink pad used is Old Olive. Stamp set for the sentiment is Label Love, which matches the Artisan Label Punch and even can be purchased as a bundle saving 15%. To finish off the card are two butterflies, die cut from the Butterflies Thinlits, layered together and accented with pearls and white bakers twine.

PCCCS#137 – Chalk Ink

Happy Saturday! There was snow on the grass when I woke up this morning, not sure about you but I’m ready for spring and warmer temperatures. Today I will planning my Easter desserts for next weekend, making sure I purchase what I can in advance. Made some macaroni salad last night and plan on making ham today and wings tomorrow for dinner to go with it, yummy! Hopefully will have some time to do a little crafting as well.

Last night I made my card is for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, you can see the sketch below.

PCCCCS104-158-012-2-214x300

Chalk ink was the theme for the card, I used two of the new Stampin Up ColorBox chalk ink’s on today’s card. These ink pads and refills are in the 2015 Occasions catalog. It’s recommended that you purchase both the ink pad and the refill as you want a nice juicy ink pad at all times. The Aquamarine ink was used with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp to create the spotted background and Yellow Citrus was used to stamp Happy Birthday from Big Day (2015 Sale-A-Bration) directly on Chalkboard paper to create the birthday banner. On the large picture of the card its a little hard to see, so I included a close up as well – looks good in person.  To complete the card which is on a Very Vanilla card base (top folding card), are two pieces of Flashback Designer Series Paper matted on Basic Black and a Real Red oval embossed with the Chevron Embossing folder. The In-Color thick Bakers Twine (a new Sale-A-Bration item this month) is wrapped around one section and bow added. To finish the card, I added three brushed gold brads I had in my old stuff stash.

CYCI #62 – Purple Day!

Today is Purple Day – an international grassroots effort dedicated to increasing awareness about epilepsy worldwide!  Did you know that when a dog is diagnosed with epilepsy they are treated with the same drugs as humans. Our first husky, Snowman, had epilepsy and I would go to the local drugstore to have his prescription filled.  Here is a picture of him, he lived until he was 15 years old. The little guy with him is Bandit, he is now 13 years old.

BanditSnowman01

It’s the perfect day to share this card & tag I made as a sample using the Four Feathers Stamp Set. I will be using the card for the Can You Case It weekly challenge – this week is “Designer’s Choice” – perfect for Purple Day.

Designers-Choice-001-300x218

Both the card and tag features the Four Feathers Stamp Set with matching Feathers Framelit Dies, carry over items from the 2014 Holiday catalog. The feathers come in 2 different sizes and are die cut from Silver Foil paper and also stamped & heat embossed with both Clear and Iridescent ice embossing powder on Elegant Eggplant Cardstock.

The card base is Whisper White and the base is Elegant Eggplant with Dotty Angles circle stamp heat embossed in clear at the top. On the lower right corner the sentiment is from Wetlands and heat embossed in silver. The large feathers are grouped together, backed with dimensionals and finished with a silver bow. The smaller feathers are grouped the same way, added to a tag and stamped images are from Something to Say stamp set – perfect pair – card and tag ready for a birthday!

Cake & Ice Cream

Just kicking back relaxing watching television this evening – switching between The Voice and Penguin hockey game.

Today’s post is one of the cards I made over the weekend and it features two Sale-A-Bration items – the stamp set Big Day and  Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper.

One of the nice features about this designer paper is the fact that you can color the paper to match for product since it has a clear white embossed image over the paper. To color the paper you can use a sponge dauber or just cut a piece off one of the large sponges. To get started I used a piece of Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper for inspiration. The card base is Bermuda Bay, with a mat of Calypso Coral and a piece of Irresistibly Yours DSP colored with Bermuda Bay. These layer are directly glued to the card. In the middle is a piece of the Birthday Bash DSP with small strips of Crushed Curry as accents and Bermuda Bay ribbon covering the seams. This piece is back with dimensionals and adhered.  Next two different stamps from Big Day where stamped with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Gold Stampin’ Emboss Powder. The image was die cut with an oval from the Oval Collection Framelits, edges sponged with Calypso Coral and popped up with dimensionals.  Accent bow finishes the card.

Birthday Vellum

Happy Monday, the beginning of another week of work. I really enjoyed my four days off, purchased new furniture, had a great steak dinner out, cleaned the sun porch in preparation for spring and did some crafting, all in all a very productive time. Hope you did something just as rewarding the last few days. Sunday was beautiful, a little cool but sunny – I enjoyed some down time on the sun porch, even if I needed the fireplace on to take the edge off.

For todays card I am highlighting a piece of the Sheer Perfection Vellum Designer Paper that has been colored with three of the 2014-2016 In-Color Stampin Write Markers: Hello Honey – Lost Lagoon – Mossy Meadow.  To add dimension to vellum a nice added touch is to color the backside of the paper with a marker. With this technique you need to let the paper dry before adhering to your project. Once the paper was dry, it was attached to the front of a card base of Whisper White. Centered over the front is a banner in Lost Lagoon, circle in Hello Honey and Mossy Meadow banner from the Project Life Cards & Labels Framelits. The sentiment on the Mossy Meadow is a portion of one of the stamps from the Remembering Your Birthday stamp set which was heat embossed in white.

PCCCS #136

Happy Saturday! Today was a nice weather day here, temps actually hit the mid 50’s, the sun was in an out, but still an overall nice day. I did some crafting, making a few requested cards, I will share at a later day and some for posting now.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge #136, the sketch is below.

PCCCS106-160-011-300x300

For this card, I decided to go with a 5″ x 5″ square card. I used two pieces of Painted Petals Designer Series Paper and matching card stock to complete the card. The card base is Daffodil Delight matted with a piece of designer series paper. In the center of the card is a tea lace doily layered with a Blackberry Bliss circle cut with a framelit using the Big Shot. To the right is a Soft Sky banner layered with another piece of designer series paper and three rhinestones at the bottom right, this piece is then glued to the card. The stamped image is using the Butterfly Basics stamp set. Happy Birthday is from Celebrate Today stamp set stamped in Blackberry Bliss on Wild Wasabi, rhinestone dotting the “i”.  To finish off the card is a Blackberry Bliss Thick Bakers Twine & Linen thread bow.  The Blackberry Bliss Thick Bakers Twine is one off the new Sale-A-Bration choices (free product choice with $50 before tax/shipping). Sale-A-Bration ends March 31, 2015 – only a couple more weeks!

Just Sayin’ Hello

Happy Friday, don’t know about you but its been a busy few days for me, nice to sit back, make a card and write a post. On Thursday my husband and I celebrated our 27th wedding anniversary and I decided to take Thurday & Friday as vacation days so we could do some things together around the house. Thursday we went out looking for a new chair for the living room and ended up purchasing a couch & chair. It’ll be about 4-5 weeks until they are delivered. We also had a very good steak dinner!  Today we spent the day cleaning the living room and measuring, you see now we need to figure out what to do with our old couch. I’ve always wanted one on the sun porch – so this just might be a win-win for me!

For todays card I thought I would highlight a piece of Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper with Sale-A-Bration coming to an end this month.  The base of the card is Coastal Cabana (a retiring In-Color, get your supply  now), with a layer of Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White (ran through the Big Shot in the Lovely Lace Embossing folder). There is another piece of Coastal Cabana matted  behind the Designer Series Paper that has been stamped with the flower from the stamp set Butterfly Basics in Memento Black Ink. There is vintage In-Color Ribbon on the left side and the entire piece is backed with dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Crazy about You in Coastal Cabana, stamped on Whisper White and backed with Pear Pizzazz.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Each year we are invited to the Gilliand’s for a party on the exact day and each year to show my appreciation for their friendship I take a homemade card  and Pistachio Bundt Cake (it’s green inside).   Today’s card is the one I’m taking this year. Using the same template I did for a baby shower invitation, I made a few modification to the legs and arms  and turned the onsie into the little green suit leprechaun’s wear.

St Patricks Day

Check out some interesting facts about Leprechauns.

Leprechauns are a type of fairy in Irish folklore:

  • According to legend if a human catches a leprechaun that leprechaun must grant that human three wishes in exchange for his freedom.
  • There are no female leprechauns.
  • Leprechauns are shoemakers.
  • Some stories say they hide their gold coins in a pot at the end of the rainbow.
  • Did you know that Leprechauns originally wore red! According to the book Legends and Stories of Ireland published in 1831, leprechauns wore red and a cocked (tri-cornered) hat, shoes and buckles.
  • According to legend Leprechauns dance the Irish jig so much they wear out their shoes.

Happy “Berry Basket” Easter

Today was the monthly meeting of my Sunday Stampers, we made two cards and an Easter Basket using the Berry Basket Bigz L Die – complete with plastic Easter Eggs and Candy.  Below are two samples the group used to create their Pistachio Pudding Baskets. The one on the left uses the Hardwood Background stamp to add texture to the basket, where the one on the right has a handle. Items used as accents include:  Tea Lace Paper Doiles, edges and circle cut from Lullaby Designer Series Paper, Star & Project Life Framelits and we used the Handheld Stapler to put the basket together, it sure was a lot of fun.  The sentiment, stamped in Baked Brown Sugar is from Crazy about You stamp set (which comes in Wood-Clear-Photopolymer) for your stamping pleasure.

PCCCS #135

Happy Friday,  one more day, not sure about you but I’m ready to start the weekend! The weather has been really nice – in the 50’s the last few days. I even when to the store in my flip flops.  I’ll be getting ready for my Sunday Stampers group Saturday – – – cutting paper, checking supplies and making a few more samples to share. We will be making a Berry Basket and doing the Bokeh technique to make a card. I’ll post the projects Sunday, so come on back.

My card for today is for the Paper Craft Crew Card sketch challenge. Go over to their blog to see what their design team has come up with and enter a card just like I did! Design below.

PCCCS105-159-011-300x232

We have a few friends having babies over the next few months, so I thought, why not to a baby card and be prepared. To start my card I cut a piece of Lullaby Designer Series Paper and matted it to a piece of Baked Brown Sugar. Next, I add some Coastal Cabana to the bottom half and covered the seam with Hello Honey Stitched Satin Ribbon.  I attached this piece with dimensionals to a Whisper White card base. Using the Stamp-a-ma-jig I stamped the alligator, lion and monkey from Zoo Babies one on top of another on a piece of Whisper White. To add a little something-something after I stamped I covered the entire piece of Whisper White with Versamark ink, covered with Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder and heat set for a sparkling effect. That piece is then matted on Baked Brown Sugar and adhered with dimensionals. Used the Kinda Eclectic stamp set for the butterflies and punched out with the matching punches. On the right side of the image is a Wild Wasabi Circle layered on a Baked Brown Sugar Starburst. Sentiment is from Zoo Babies, using the hexagon punch for the end. To finish the card I added a bow and added rhinestones for bling. Thank you for stopping by, hope you enjoyed the card, Craft On!

Wish Big Feathers!

It’s Thursday, one day closer to the weekend! Weather has been nice this week, some rain but temperature around 50, much better than the cold & snow! Today at lunch I want to make a run to the party store, I’m in charge of Easter desserts and thinking about ‘shot glass’ desserts and want to see what my choices are.

While cleaning up after some crafting I came upon a few hexagon thinlit cut outs and thought why not make a card using the Coastal Cabana one. I sure will miss this In-Color when it retires at the end of May.  Using Coastal Cabana as the main color I checked my designer series paper and settled on a piece of the Best Year Ever Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper (one of the free choices with a qualifying purchase).  If you ever get stuck on a color combo, look at your designer series paper and pull together some the colors – you know they’ll look good together! The card base is Soft Suede and the designer series paper is backing the Hexagon cut out. I stamped some candles from the Age Awareness stamp set since I wanted to make a birthday card. Stamped three feathers in Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry and Calypso Coral and used the matching framelit to cut them out.  The magnetic platform along with the Big Shot makes this very easy.  To accent the feathers I used a button from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack, tied with a linen thread double bow and backed with a dimensional. Sentiment pn the outside is from A Dozen Thoughts and on the inside I stamped Happy Birthday from Age Awareness in Chocolate Chip ink.

CYCI #60

Well it’s Tuesday and I’m watching a rerun of the The Big Bang Theory, for some reason I can watch these episodes over and over and enjoy them each time. I just love episode #100 when Penny gives Shelton the napkin signed by Leonard Nimoy and all the gift baskets he has ready to give her, even the hug at the end.

Todays card is a Color Challenge for “Can You Case It?“, don’t forget to check out their blog to see some great designs.  Colors this week are: Wild Wasabi, So Saffron and Soft Sky.

CYCI-60-232x300

As I was sitting at my desk thinking of what to do, I saw some clear blocks and thought, why not use them to make the card and a design was born. One of the hot techniques now is Bokeh which is defined as “the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light” and I’m using a version of that.  To create the card, I assigned a clear block to each color and started randomly stamping on a base of Whisper White creating the design below. I layered the Whisper White on Wild Wasabi on a card base of So Saffron. The sentiment is from Best Year Ever (one of the Sale-A-Bration selections with a qualifying purchase). To add a little blink I used some 2013-2015 In Color Sequins.

Happy Birthday Connor!

Today my cousin Lisa is having a birthday party for her son Connor, he’s 4 =- – –  were does the time go.  I thought I would share with you the card and matching envelope I made for him.  The envelope is made using the Envelope Punch Board and a piece of the wrapping paper.

I used the gift wrapping paper as the color combination for my card – Night of Navy, Real Red, Hello Honey and Whisper White. The card base is Night of Navy and I used the Large Polka Dot Embossing folder on the Whisper White base since it reminded me of the one stamp. The balloons are embossed with designs from the Celebrate Today stamp set in Silver and I used the Balloon Framelits to cut them out. All the balloons are backed with dimensionals and the Night of Navy balloon has two layers. To make the bakers twine stiff to act as rope, I had some Modge Podge at home and ran the twine between my fingers that were coated with Modge Podge, once they dried I attached with glue dots and trimmed the ends.  The “Happy” is in Night of Navy and die cut from Hello You Thinlits. I tapped VersaMark over the “Happy” and used clear embossing powder and did about three layers.  Birthday is stamped in Night of Navy.

It’s Saturday and the sun is out!  It’s amazing how seeing the sun can make you feel just that much better!  I received my Costco rebate check this week so I’ll be off to Costco soon for some shopping, mostly stocking up on items we need –  TP, paper towels and ketchup – three important items in this house! What are some of the must haves in your home?

Todays card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, you can see the sketch below.

This card will feature one of the new Sale-A-Bration items announced March 1st, the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack. Any one of the four products can be yours for free with a $50 (before tax/shipping) purchase.

March SAB.1_n

To start my card, I cut a piece of the vellum the size of the front of the card (4 ¼” x 5 ½”) and on the backside of the vellum I colored the leaves with the Mossy Meadow Stampin Write Marker and let it dry for a few minutes. Next I cut a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Specialty paper and colored with Mossy Meadow ink on a sponge, wiping off the excess.  I adhered the Irresistibly Yours paper to the Vellum then Vellum to the Mossy Meadow card base, just on the left side.  There is a piece of gold ribbon covering the seam.  A piece of Painted Bloom Designer Paper matted on Blackberry Bliss helped me decide on accent colors for the card (Crushed Curry & Melon Mambo) and is attached with dimensionals. Where the circles are in the upper right corner, I first adhered the Vellum to the card base and used the circles to cover the glue dots. Used the ½” and ¾” Circle Punches.  Sentiment is from the “Something to Say” stamp set.  For more information on any of these products you can click on the image below.

One day until the weekend, yeah!!!  I’m looking forward to the warmer weather expected this weekend, temperatures in the 40’s, it’ll be a heat wave.

When I saw the sketch for this weeks “Freshly Made Sketches” hosted by Cindy Hall, I knew I needed to participate. The card is an elongated shape, 4″ x 9 1/4″ size. Don’t be concerned about an envelope, you can use a #10 regular business envelope or create one of your own.

FMS Final 176-001

To make my card I decided to use the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper and Ribbon from the 2015 Sale-A-Bration catalog.  I cut the designer paper to size, adhered the bottom piece directly to a Whisper White card base, used the Large Scallop Edgelit on the top piece and adhered that as well. The Hello is from the Hello You thinlits and has a pearl in the “o”.

Happy Wednesday, hope you are having a good week. Weather here is cold & snowy again today, but they say its gonna be in the 40’s this weekend, kinda like a heat wave.

Stampin Up released new weekly deals yesterday. At the bottom of the post after the products used on todays card is the list of new deals – – – gift boxes and bags are some of the cool deals!

To make my card I started with a card base of Whisper White. My first step was to emboss a piece of Pistachio Pudding using the Lovely Lace Embossing folder and covered the bottom third with a piece of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper. Next I cut a piece of Blackberry Bliss Satin Ribbon and using the cute new Stapler attached the ribbon over the seam. This piece is backed with dimensionals, adhere to Blackberry Bliss and glued to the Whisper White card base.  The word “Enjoy” is from the Mini-Treat bag thinlits.  I included a picture of the inside of the card as well, using the Remembering Your Birthday stamp in Strawberry Slush.

Happy Monday, welcome to the work week. How was your weekend? Do anything exciting? I spent time crafting a bit then cleaning up the mess I made doing it. On Sunday I made some really good Beef Stew for dinner. After a snowy Sunday, we may actually have temperatures in the 40’s mid week, but I’ll believe it when it happens.

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch weekly challenge #133.  Stop by their blog for projects from their design team and other crafters like me.

PCCCS106-160-010-300x300

To make my card I started with deciding that I wanted to use the 2015 Sale-A-Bration stamp set “Big Day”, which can be free with a $50 (before tax/shipping) order. Next I decided on the Birthday Bash Designer Series Paper and a card base of Night of Navy. The image was stamped with VersaMark and embossed with Gold Powder. In the under right corner is a Gold Star die cut with the smallest Star Framelit and topped with a Calypso Coral star punched from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. On the bottom left corner is a Circle from the Circle collection Framelit, backed with dimensionals on top of a piece of Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy with Birthday Bash DSP attached.  There are three flowers punched from Itty Bitty Accent punch in coordinating colors. Rhinestones are spares from a prior month Paper Pumpkin Kit.

Amazing You!

Welcome to March! It’s another snowy Sunday morning here, you can’t even see where the street is, its been snowing since after midnight and the snow is still falling. They say we should see snow until Monday morning, hopefully we will not get the icy mix they are talking about.  A sunny warm beach sure seems good right now!

snow

Todays card features two of my favorite new thinlits – Butterflies & Hello You, both of which also come in bundles with coordinating stamp sets (Butterfly Basics & Crazy about You).  One other nice feature about these stamp sets/bundles – they come in Photopolymer – Clear – Wood, so every stampers favorite type of stamp is covered.   I’m really not sure if I’ve made a card like this before – I took a card base – folded in half – cut a piece of designer series paper and applied to the entire front panel of the card to get started.  Next I laid down all the layers (Crushed Curry, You & Butterflies) and realized something was missing, that’s when I decided to get out the Dotty Angles stamp set and stamp the triangles stamp in Crushed Curry on the Crushed Curry until the entire surface was covered. You & the butterflies are adhered with liquid glue and the inside butterfly has pearls as embellishments. For the inside butterfly I stamped in Coastal Cabana on designer paper and used the thinlit to cut out. The Designer Series Paper used for this card is from the Best Year Ever DSP in the 2015 Sale-a-Bration catalog.
