Happy Birthday Mikey !

Fifty one years ago today my baby brother was born – Happy Birthday Mikey.  This year I actually have a newer and improved baby brother, for Christmas he received a new hip, once he’s fully healed and rehabbed he’ll be a moving and a grooving just fine. Michael lives in New Jersey with my sister-in-law Diane, nephew Jake and crafty niece Maya. Below is picture from this past summer of Jake, Michael and Maya in my pool when they where visiting.  Hope he has a great birthday!

Today I thought I would share with you his birthday card.  I used the new stamp set “Guy Greetings” which comes in photopolymer, clear or wood for your stamping pleasure. The image is stamped in Early Espresso on Very Vanilla and matted on Early Espresso using the Oval Collections Framelits. Sentiments are stamped in Cajun Craze and hand cut with paper snips. The background for the card is two pieces of paper from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack, with Cajun Craze as the card base and mat.  There is a piece of Very Vanilla Satin Ribbon and Candy Dots for accents.

Mini Treat Bag & Card

So how is your week so far, we had about 7″ of snow earlier in the week and expect a few more inches at the end of the week. Our husky is really enjoying the snow and being out in the cold.

Today thought I would share with you a Mini treat bag with card that can be inserted into the bag which then acts like the envelope. The Mini treat bag is a new thinlit in the 2015 Occasion catalog. Click on the image for a link to the Stampin’ Up! You Tube video on how to use the thinlit.  The “for you” and “heart” are part of the thinlit set. The Real Red frame is using the Square Framelits.

One layer Painted Petals

So how was your weekend? I’m all set with my new drivers license. The snow has started to fall and we are expected to get between 3″- 5″  by Monday afternoon, much better than the [possible 12+ inches the people in the NJ-NYC-Boston area are expected to get.

For today’s card I went with a simple one layer card. A one layer card is simply a card base with one layer of cardstock on the front. It’s a quick easy card and easy to mass produce. I decided  to use the new Painted Petal Stamp set, which comes in photopolymer, clear or wood. I actually prefer this set in photopolymer so that its easy to line up the flowers and stems. There is an accent of candy dots in the top right corner.

Happy Saturday to all of you!  What are your plans for today? Shoveling snow, shopping or maybe some craft time? For me, its off to the drivers license office to get a new license. After that a little shopping at some of the shops around the office since in a different part of the county and I don’t get to them all that often. There is a scrapbook store near by which I will check out, never know what you will see and may even get a few idea’s for future cards/projects.

In case you are wondering, the chocolate cookies lasted 3 days, I’ll be sending the tin back for a refill Jake!

Today’s card is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, design  below.

PCCCCS104-158-009-214x300

For my card, I decided to follow the design and used a piece of paper from the cool Speciality Designer Series Paper – Typeset in the lower two thirds of my card. I did a Pinterest search for color combo’s and decided on Rich Razzleberry – Pool Party – Island Indigo, since I wanted to use the new cotton ribbon on my card. Both the card base and ribbon is Rich Razzleberry and the mats for the focal image is the Pool Party – Island Indigo combo.  The stamp set used in “Guy Greetings” from the new 2015 Occasions catalog. I’ve talked before on how some of the stamp sets come in photopolymer – clear – wood and this is one of them.  It’s a great stamp set for “Man” cards, with a variety of sentiments, make sure to check them out!

MOJO381 – Cookies & Washi tape

So who doesn’t want to be someone’s Valentine? Valentine’s Day is a day for not only sending a card to your sweetheart, but a great time to send a card to someone who is near and dear to you, say a friend, brother, sister-in-law, niece or nephew.

Speaking of nephew’s, today I received a tin of homemade chocolate chip cookies for my birthday made for me by Jake. The cookies are great, they will not last long, that’s how good they are. Who knows, maybe one day he will be a world class chef.  My niece Maya, sent me washi tape and my name in washi handmade stickers which I used to decorate a notebook. Below is a picture of both.cookies

Now on to some card making. Todays card is for the Mojo Monday challenge, this week Teresa Kline came up with the sketch. Don’t forget to stop over to their blog to see cards designed by their team and other crafters.

For my card I decide to go with a Valentine theme, so who will be the lucky person to receive this card in the mail?  The paper used on the card is from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper Stack, using different sides of two papers.  The card base is Real Red. The accent hearts are in Basic Black and Whisper White. The stamps are from the January 2015 Paper Pumpkin kit, which has a Valentine theme.  To make the white heart sparkle, I brushed liquid glue over it and sprinkled Dazzling Diamond Glitter over it – you could also heat emboss with Iridescent Ice Emboss Powder to obtain the same glittery look.

So how was your weekend? Do anything special? I enjoyed a nice relaxing Saturday and my Sunday Stampers group yesterday.  Watched some football with my husband and some friends, wasn’t the end of the Seahawk’s game exciting, don’t see many pro game go to overtime for the winner.

For my card I decided on using the Butterfly Basics stamp set with a piece of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper for inspiration. The card base and mats are made using Wild Wasabi card stock. I used the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set to add the background detail on the Whisper White, then matted a piece of Painted Blooms paper on the Wild Wasabi,   punched banners in Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight attached them then adhered the piece to the card.  On top of that is a circle cut from a framelit, matted on a starburst die cut. Stamps from Butterfly Basics where stamped on the circle and Blackberry Bliss butterfly was stamped and die cut from the matching Butterfly die.  A Bitty Butterfly punched out of Daffodil Delight was layered on top with rhinestones for a little bling. The button is from the Best Year Ever Accessory pack from the Sale-A-Bration catalog and has a bow from Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine.

Sunday Stampers Cards

The cards featured today will be made during my January Sunday Stampers Gathering later today, thought I would share them with you now.  Each month we do three cards, I decided to use the card from my Demonstrators swap earlier this month that features the Butterfly Basics Stamp Set & Butterfly Thinlit Dies (which are sold separately or as a bundle in wood-clear-photopolymer), a Valentine Card and a Birthday Card.

For the Valentine card, I start by using the Hearts Collection framelits to die cut a heart in a piece of Whisper White. Next, I picked a piece of paper from the Stacked with Love Designer Series Paper stack, punched out pieces with the Bow Builder punch , (click for a link to the Stampin Up You Tube video on how to use the punch).  I then used the balance of the paper to cover the heart, so that the DSP peaks through the heart, then mounted the Whisper White on a card base of Real Red. Once I put the bow together, used a glue dot to attach under the heart and used Real Red to stamp a sentiment from the vintage Good Greetings stamp set.

The Lotus Blossom card features products you can earn for free for every $50 (before tax/shipping) purchased. This card features from the Sale-A-Bration catalog both the Best Year Ever Designer Series Paper & Accessories pack, which includes ribbon & buttons in three different colors – Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry & Coastal Cabana. The card base is Soft Suede, mats are Coastal Cabana and Stamp sets Lotus Blossoms (SAB Catalog) and Crazy about You (2015 Occasions).  Click here Lotus Blossom stamp set, for a link to the Stampin Up video on how to use the stamp set.

Hello Sunshine, the perfect phrase for today!  It’s cold, but bright and sunny today, which goes along perfectly with my card.  The inspiration for todays card is a friend of my husband & I, Tom G. Every time he sees me, he always says “Hello Sunshine”, I thought that was a great phrase for a card.  The inside can then be stamped for a variety of occasions – get well, birthday or thinking of you!

Today’s card is for this weeks Mojo Monday card sketch. Don’t forget to check out their blog for other cool designs.

I decided on a Clean & Simple design using some extra pieces of paper laying around my craft space. The base of my card is Bermuda Bay, one of the colors featured in the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper. Vertically there is a piece of BBSDSP paper on the left, with a piece of Gold Foil layered on top. Horizontally, is a piece of Whisper White matted on Calypso Coral. On the Whisper White is the word ‘Hello’ from the Hello You Thinlits Die set. The word ‘birthday’ is from Crazy about You stamp set, which coordinates with the Hello You thinlits and is sold as a bundle.  Crazy about You is another of the stamp sets that comes in wood-clear-photopolymer, so that you can pick the type of stamp you prefer to you!

Weekly Deals & Hearts

How’s your week going? Weather was a little better today, but its to get really cold again tonight – at least no snow! Just makes me wonder when will the snow come and how much, probably up to the eyeballs, LOL!  🙂   I’m enjoying my evening watching the Penguin game tonight on the tv in my jammies, right now we are winning 2-0!

Today’s post talks about the weekly deals that start today, including the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack, Angled Tag Topper punch and Hello Honey, Tangelo Twist & Blackberry Bliss Satin Ribbon. My card is a Valentine’s Day card that features the Heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack. I used the stems from the Painted Petals stamp set and scraps of shades of pink & red to punch out hearts to adhere in place of flowers.  On the inside of the card is the sentiment from the Choose Happiness stamp set, ‘When I need a friend, you’re there’.

How’s your weekend been? Saturday was really cold with a high of about 15 degrees and the sun was out all day.  Today is rather  gloomy as we are expecting a possible ice storm depending on where the rain/snow line ends up. Even though my football team is out of the playoffs, I’ve been watching/listening to the games all weekend, most have been rather exciting. Last night we watched the Penguin vs. Montreal game with friends. Game went into overtime and we won on a goal by Sydney Crosby. It’s always better when we win!

Card for today is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge using the new Painted Petals stamp set from the 2015 Occasions catalog.  The Painted Petals stamp set is one of the sets in the catalog that can be purchased in either photopolymer, clear or wood, one of the new features of this catalog.

PCCCS105-159-008-300x232

To make the card I started with a piece of Painted Blooms Designer Series Paper and used various colors that coordinated. The top folding card base is Blackberry Bliss, with a mat of Daffodil Delight and Designer Series Paper. A piece of Blackberry Bliss Satin Ribbon covers the seam with a bow on the left side. Stamped one of the flower images from the Painted Petals set in Daffodil Delight  and stems in Wild Wasabi on Whisper White matted on Wild Wasabi.  Greeting is stamped in the middle in Blackberry Bliss. Piece of Soft Sky is the accent on the top right, topped with a Wild Wasabi heart. On the bottom, there is a piece of Gold Glimmer paper behind a piece of Soft Sky that has been punched with the Hearts Border Punch. To attach the gold to the soft sky, used the Handheld Stapler on the right side only and hid the staple with a Blackberry Bliss Starburst.

Butterfly Swap Card

HHappy Friday, sure has been a busy week at work, looking forward to a little down time this weekend. Still cold here, weathermen say its going down to zero tonight with wind chills will feel like -20, brrrrr 🙂  Only one around here that likes this weather is our husky Bandit.  He loves to curl into a little ball and lay on the couch on the covered and protected back porch.

Today I am sharing with you the card I created for a demonstrator swap I am participating in featuring products from the new 2015 Occasions catalog.  This card features some of my favorite new products – the Butterfly and Hello You Thinlits and Butterfly Basic stamp set. Stampin Up sells the Butterfly Thinlits & Butterfly Basic stamp set as a bundle, available in photopolymer, clear or wood stamps, one of the new features of this years Occasions catalog. The color combination of Blackberry Bliss, Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay and Wild Wasabi is one of my go to combo’s, always looks nice no matter the theme of the card. Images are stamped on Whisper White, then matted on Blackberry Bliss.  There are butterflies in both Blackberry Bliss and Crushed Curry, joined together in the middle only, for dimension.  There is a Bermuda Bay sequin under a Bermuda Bay Bakers Twine bow for added glitz.  Greeting of ‘Hello’ is also in Blackberry Blush.

Thought I would share a card today useing a variety of new products from the 2015 Occasions & Sale-A-Bration Catalogs.  The background is using a piece of the Irresistibly Yours Designer Series Paper (one of the items from the Sale-A-Bration Catalog), which is white paper with a glossy white pattern perfect for coloring which reveals the pattern.  For mine I used sponge daubers with Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry to push around color, then a paper towel to wipe off any color on the glossy stars to make them shine. For me one of the must haves from the 2015 Occasions catalog was the Butterflies & Hello You Thinlits, used I used below. Both have stamp sets (Butterfly Basics and Crazy about You) that coordinate and can be purchased as a packaged bundle. Who just doesn’t love a bundle where you can save 15%!  When die cutting these items with your Big Shot & Magnetic Platform, I recommend a piece of waxed paper layered between the paper and die to make the image pop right out.  For any pieces stuck in the image, a toothpick works wonders to remove those little buggers.  The butterfly is accented by rhinestones for a little bling!

So how is your weekend going? It was gloomy here on Saturday with a freezing rain warning until 2pm, good day to stay in and make a few cards for some upcoming blogs. Made some homemade spaghetti sauce for the freezer and snacks for watching the Steeler football game with friends in the evening.  Unfortunately the football was not the outcome we had hoped for, still a nice evening with friends. Today another rainy day, just warmer around 58 degrees, then temperatures fall and we could have snow overnight, talk about wacky weather.

Card for today is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge. A new sketch is released every Wedneday. Make sure to check out their blog.

For this card thought I would show you both the outside (featuring stamp set Really Good Greetings) and inside (featuring the stamp set Age Awareness).  With the greeting I have chose for the outside, based on the stamped inside, card could be used for a variety of occasions.  I’ve been looking at the Back to Black designer series paper lately thinking of how to use it and when I saw this design thought it would make a nice background, using a bright color (Bermuda Bay) to pop a sentiment. Both squares are the same size, one is just layered with a piece of Whisper White and the other is a frame made with the Squares Collection Framelits, with the sentiment stamped on Whisper White and matted behind it.  Used the Starburst Framelits to create an accent as well as na arrow  from the Label card thinlit set in silver foil.

So what did you do January 1st, watch the Rose parade and football games or maybe start to take down Christmas decorations?  I used the day to make some cards I will be sharing over the next few days and cooking a pork roast with sauerkraut, mashed potatoes and baked beans for our traditional New Years day dinner.  I enjoy looking at the decorations, they will stay up in the house for another week or so but the outside ones will be coming down this weekend.

Card for today is for this weeks MOJO Monday challenge, sketch below.

zMojo378

The card is a “tall & skinny” (card base is 3.5″ x 5.5″) and with embellishment measures 4.25″ wide, which fits in a standard A2 envelope.  The focal image is a Whisper White stamped circle on a starburst of Blackberry Bliss and embellished with Butterflies stamped from a new set “Butterfly Basics” from the new 2015 Occasions catalog and punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch. Don’t you just love when punches match stamps? I know I do! I decided to go with a Sorry You’re Sick stamp since this is the time of the year people seem to come down with the flu and thought it would be nice to have a card handy to send someone to cheer them up when they’re feeling down.  When reviewing the supply list below you may wonder why the Hexagon punch is listed – check out the nice banner ends on the Blackberry Bliss and Hello Honey strips – thanks to the punch they are nice, clean and the same size.
