Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #107

Happy Sunday, we are half way through the Labor Day weekend.  Yesterday it was nice and sunny  in the afternoon so I took advantage of it and spent about 2 1/2 hours in the pool.  The mix of upper 80 degree temperature ad 74 degree water made for a nice combination.  While floating around it gave me time to think about two design challenges I wanted to make cards for.  For some reason I seem to be able to think better in water. LOL.

The first card I came up with is for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #107. The design is below and if you click on the sketch you will be taken directly to their blog to see their design team project and ones from other crafters like me.

PCCCCS104-158-002-214x300

Since the sketch shows patterned paper as the background (at least to me it does), the first thing that came to mind was the new “Back to Black” Designer Series Paper and how I could cut a piece to size (4″x5.25″) then cut to 3.5″ x 4″ and 1.75″ x 4″ and color one of the pieces with the new Blendabilities markers.  Then I decided on Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral and Daffodil Delight as my color pallet. Once I colored the bottom half, I adhered both the colored section and original section to a piece of Whisper White for more stability. Punched 1″ circles to create the scallops and covered the seam with the new Cotton Ribbon. The cake is from the “Embellished Events” stamp set and candles are jewels colored with the Blendabilities, this layer is backed with Stampin Dimensionals. Small accent circles are stamped from Work of Art stamp set and punched out with 1/2″ circle punch.   Greeting was stamped with Versamark and White Heat Embossed.  Hope you like the card!

Happy Saturday, hope you all have a fun weekend planned.  Hopefully I will have both pool and craft time.  It seems like  the summer just started and now its over.

So what do you think of the new Holiday Catalog, have a wish list of items you are interested it.  Over the next few weeks, I will share with you projects made with products from the holiday catalog.

I was looking at the Seasonally Scattered stamp set we received at convention this year  and thought how nice the image would look with all fall colors.  To create the colors, I first tapped the Crushed Curry ink pad over the entire stamp, then with an Aqua Painter dabbed Real Red, Pumpkin Pie and Wild Wasabi randomly over the stamp – gave it a few puffs of warm breath (helps the ink when sitting for a few moments on the stamp) and pressed on to Whisper White cardstock cut 2″ wide for use with the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Used a combo of Chevron ribbon tied with a piece of Gold Baker Twine. Tag is then backed with Stampin Dimensionals.

Hello Fall and 2014 Holiday Catalog!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful husband Dan, for a few short months we will be the same age – then come January I become the “older” women!

Today is the first day for the new 2014 Holiday Catalog – there are a lot of great stamp sets and bundles.  Over the past few days I have showed a few previews as a tease, now your wish list can become reality.  To place an order you can click on the catalog for a direct link to my online store.

Thought the perfect card to start the new catalog with was one that says “Hello Fall”.  The card base is Baked Brown Sugar cardstock stamped with the Hardwood Background stamp in Early Espresso.  Wreath is Crushed Curry, Tangelo Twist and Real Red – the wreath is actually a 3-stamp set, which makes it really easy to line up.  There is a matching die for both the inside/outside for quick cutting with your Big Shot and Magnetic Platform.  Wreath is also stamp with matching die – I just used Gold foil sheet for some glitz. Both the wreath and greeting are backed with Stampin Dimensionals.

Get Well Card

Recently I needed to send a get well card to my upline’s husband and “manly” cards are always a challenge, then I though of this.

Using  the new ” Little Letter” Thinlit dies, I randomly die cut Get Well  on a piece of Night of Navy.   I then used the new Confetti Stars Punch (from the 2014 Holiday Catalog go live date 8/28/14) and punched out tons of stars using scrap paper.  The stars were then put in a clear cello bag, sealed and adhered to the back of the Night of Navy, backed with a Stampin Dimensionals, I adhered to a piece of Whisper White card stock.  The Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack’s star punch provided the accents for the front of the card.

Just Add Ink #228 – Cascading Card

Saturday morning I checked out the “Just Add Ink” blog and saw that they had a colour challenge this week.  The colors are: Mossy Meadow, Blackberry Bliss and Calypso Coral – from Stampin’ Up, so I thought I would give it a try.

JAI201buttons009

The weather on Saturday afternoon was perfect to spend some time in the pool, so I thought about the color combo and knowing I wanted to try this “Cascading Card” I saw on You Tube (thanks Dawn Griffith), this card came into my head.  The card base in Crumb Cake and to create the pattern for the sides, on Whisper White I stamped all three colors using a stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set.  Flowers are from the Flower Shop and Petite Petals stamp set. Greeting is from Aged Awareness, a photopolymer set – great for lining up what is stamped.  Leaves are from the Build-A-Bird punch. Added some jewels at the end for some bling.

24/7 Swap card and Short & Sweet recruiting promotion

At the Stampin Up convention this past July in Salt Lake City, our team of 24/7 Demonstrators decided we would do a card swap using the Amazing Birthday stamp set we all received for attending convention.  A swap is where a group of people make cards and “swap” their card for a card from another crafter, you can only imagine all the swapping that happens at convention.  There are some people that make hundreds of cards to swap, its a lot of fun to see just what others create.

Stampin’ Up has super exciting news from the home office! The Short & Sweet recruiting promotion is here! It IS short: It only lasts from August 21-28. And it IS sweet: New recruits will receive $150 in their choice of Stampin’ Up! products for the $99 starter kit price and no shipping! It’s a great deal, amazing business opportunity, AND it’s only available for a short time!  Join now and have fun attending convention in 2015 and swapping cards.

Here is the card I created for the swap.  One of the main features of my card is using Crushed Curry embossing powder on Blackberry Bliss card stock instead on ink, thinking outside the box.  Keep in mind, while the stamp set is called  Amazing Birthday, the card below could be birthday, thinking of you, masculine or that card you send to the college freshmen to let them know you are thinking of them!

PCCCS106 – Hello Fall Card

Happy Wednesday, halfway through the work week!  While my card has fall in mind, the weather today was warm and humid – not to fall like. They it should be like this through the weekend, hopefully good pool weather Saturday – sure would be nice to use it a little more before we close it up.

Each Wednesday a new sketch is released for the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge, below is this weeks sketch.  You can click on the sketch for a direct link back to their blog for the design teams and designs from other crafters like me. As soon as I saw the sketch this morning, I knew what my card would look like.

PCCCS106-160-001-300x300

Here is the card I designed for the challenge. Over the past weekend I made a variety of wreaths using the new Wonderous Wreath stamp set (2014 Holiday Catalog) and just knew I had to use it.  This card features quite a few items from the new catalog which goes live August 28th (my husband’s birthday!).  The wreath is stamped 3 times with different colors and 3 different photopolymer stamps (which line up easily) and has a matching framelit for easy die cutting!  This is a great stamp set to have!!

Quick & Easy

Hi there, thought I would share one of the cards we made at my monthly Sunday Stampers Club yesterday. The third Sunday of each month my Sunday Stampers meet and we make three cards/projects.   One of the projects was a card made with the Kind Eclectic stamp set we did at convention. I posted that on my blog August 2nd (Whisper White or Very Vanilla) – I let each person pick their card color and the group was evenly divided, four of each it was!

The card below, is quick and easy.  The card base is Baked Brown Sugar (but Crumb Cake can always be substituted), next is a layer of Pistachio Pudding.  Five out of the seven stamps in the  Choose Happiness stamp set was used for the card.  The bird was stamped and “fussy” cut with Paper Snips and backed with Stampin Dimensionals. There was a flower  stamped on the card and an extra stamped  and “fussy” cut to layer over the other to add dimension.  This would make a great thinking of you or even birthday card!

PCCCS #105 – Holiday Star Card

Happy Saturday, glad its the weekend.  Yesterday was an enjoyable vacation day.  Started the day by going to the Rogers Flea Market in Ohio with my husband. We picking up a few neat items.  In the one aisle you can smell the most wonderful Amish donuts, we decided to give them a try (sugar coated for me and vanilla glazed for the hubbie),  I can honestly say they were the best donuts we ever tasted.  We even brought 1/2 dozen home for the weekend.  We stopped at a few stores on the way home and had dinner at the NorthPark Deck House (steak salad for me and crab cake dinner for the husband).  Perfect end to a great day!

Now on to some card making.  Please heck out the Paper Craft Crew blog today, you will see that I was voted a feature artisan for PCCCS#103, thank you – its such an honor!   Here is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #105. PCCCS105-159-001-300x231

The card I created came to me rather easily, when I saw the sketch I thought of the new Bright and Beautiful stamp set, Lucky Stars textured Impression Embossing folder and All is Calm Washi tape from the 2014 Holiday Catalog.  The card base is Whisper White, accented with a strip of washi tape from the holiday catalog ( I layered the washi tape on whisper white card stock cut to size) and a piece of silver foil paper embossed with the new Lucky Stars textured Impression Embossing folder.  The silver is backed by Stampin Dimensionals, in fact all layers after that are backed by Stampin Dimensionals for depth.  The stamps are stamped with Versamark and Silver heat embossed.   There are sequins (2014 Holiday Catalog) with jewels in the center as the final accent.

MOJO358 – Picture Perfect

Happy Thursday, my last day of work for a long 5 day weekend!

Here is this weeks sketch for Mojo Monday design challenge.  If you click on the sketch it will take you to the Mojo Monday blog for designs by there design team as well as other fellow crafters.Mojo358Sketch

Here is the card I designed.  I was looking at some extra pieces just laying around on my desk and loved the idea of punching out the lens of the camera and adding the seahorse (which is popped up with Stampin Dimensionals).   After reviewing my Designer Series Paper and picking a piece from the Confetti Celebration Pack, the rest just feel into place.  I used the paper snips to fussy cut all the shapes, they sure make it easy, also you want to move the paper not the scissors, takes some practice – but really makes it easier. Add a little Crystal Effects for some bling, since I had an ocean animal theme going on.

Just and Ink #226 – Happy Birthday Card

Happy Monday, hope you had a great weekend, back to the daily grind!  Short four day week for me, I have a vacation day set for Friday – my husband and I will be going to the “Rogers Flea Market” for the day, great way to spend time looking for some vintage items and great local produce. Will let you know it goes Saturday!

This weekend I found the “Just and Ink ” blog and thought I would give there challenge a try. Here is the sketch, click on sketch for a direct link back to their blog for other great designs.

JAISketch004

For my card I used a unique size – the card base is 3.5″ wide and 5.5″ tall (its top folding), with the stamped image the completed card is 4.25″ wide – or standard size in the United States.   The card base and embossed layer (backed with Stampin Dimensionals) is Crumb Cake, one of my favorite neutral colors.  The starburst is Melon Mambo and the image is a combination of Kinda Eclectic and Beautiful Bunch stamp sets. Greeting is from the Aged Awareness Stamp set, which is photopolymer and makes placement very easy. Here is the card:

FMS148 – Happy Birthday

It’s a beautiful day here in Cranberry Township, sun is out and should hit around 85 degrees today, perfect pool weather.  My husbands softball team, Badd Newz, won their game this morning.  Next weekend is the payoffs, unfortunately I will miss the games due to Sunday Stampers Card class – I wish the team all the luck in the world!

Here is the sketch for this weeks Freshly Made Sketches design challenge.  Click on the sketch for a direct link to their blog for other great designs.

FMS Final 148-001

I decided to go with a  5″ x 5″ top folding square card featuring paper from the “Back to Black” Designer Series Paper Pack.  The accent colors are Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight and Crushed Curry.  Stampin’ Up’s new Blendabilities in Melon Mambo and Daffodil Delight were used to color the Blended Bloom flower.  Greeting is from Itty Bitty Banners – I did fussy cut the banner, but there are matching framelits that can also be used. Each layer has Stampin Dimensionals behind them for added depth to the card.  This card could very easily turn into a side fold card, just by rearranging the squares and rectangles.

PCC Card Sketch #104

Happy Saturday, sure hoping your having a good weekend so far.  Last night we spent the evening at the church fair, always a good time, seeing both family and friends. They have about two dozen raffle baskets, hopefully I will get a call Sunday night that I won the Coach purse, a girl can never have too many purses!  Today has been busy, getting ready for card class next weekend and some general crafting.

Here is the sketch for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch #104.

PCCCCS104-158-001-214x300

This card provided to be a little challenging and a mistake turned into my favorite feature (sequin rope for the banners).  I tried my hand at drawing a ‘rope’ and let’s just say – glad the gold sequin idea popped into my head!  Card base is Basic Gray, with a piece of Moonlight DSP Stack (stamped with a little Lost Lagoon and Gorgeous Grunge stamp set) matted on Lost Lagoon. Stamped a circle from the Amazing Birthday stamp set, punched it out and layered behind the Daffodil Delight Square. Image and greeting is in Blackberry Bliss using the “Wetlands” stamp set – a favorite of my stamp group!  Star is from the Something to Say stamp set in Daffodil Delight on Lost Lagoon. The banners are stamped from images in Amazing Birthday and punched out with the Banner punch. Added a little bling with a few extra sequins.

Whisper White or Very Vanilla

Welcome to the weekend. This weekend is the Cranberry Cup Softball Tournament, which benefits families in my local community. My husband manages the Badd Newz/Nationwide team and I wish them luck!

Today I thought I would share cards we made at a Make-n-Take at the Stampin’ Up Convention this year,  using Whisper White Note Cards.  When I came home I made the same cards using Very Vanilla cardstock – not sure which one I like best – what do you think?  First is the white, then very vanilla.

Kindness white card

Kindness vanilla card

For the Honeycomb design on the cards, you open the embossing folder and on the raised side, tap your ink pad over it, lay the folder card down, closed and gently press down, open and WooHoo – Honeycomb pattern on paper!

For the linen thread – use add a little Snail, gather the thread with your fingers (best tools ever) and press down.

Leaves are stamped once in full color, then stamped a second time for depth.

Supplies used:

Stamp Set: Kinda Eclectic

Paper: Whisper White Note cards, Very Vanilla, Sahara Sand, Hello Honey, Moonlight DSP Stack, Crumb Cake, Fancy Foil Designer Vellum – gold (for the small butterfly on the very vanilla and plain vellum on the white.
