Paper Craft Crew #95

First let me start by saying Happy Friday, sure do like these short work weeks, even if I get confused on what day it is!

Here is my card for this weeks Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch Challenge. This card actually came together rather easy for me. I knew I wanted to use items from my pre-order for the 2014-2015 Stampin’ Up Catalog (one of the perks of being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator)  which goes live June 2, 2014.  The new items include: Blackberry Bliss Cardstock, ink and ribbon; Hello Honey Cardstock, Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack and the Something to Say stamp set.

Here is the sketch that inspired my card:

The base of the card is Sahara Sand, with a layer of  Moonlight Designer Series paper and Hello Honey backed by a piece of Blackberry Bliss. To hide the seam a piece of Blackberry Bliss Stitched Satin Ribbon was used. Starting from left to right, the Happy Birthday is from the “Something to Say” stamp set and die cut with a banner from the Bitty Banner Framelits (I cut the one side of the banner so it was straight), backed by dimensionals and accented with Jewel. The cake is from the “Embellished Events” stamp set, embossing in Pewter on Whisper White and backed by Blackberry Bliss, and die cut using the Window Frames Framelits.  The base of the cake plate is accented with Jewels. The “Seize the Cake” is from the “Something to Say” stamp set, embossed in Pewter on Hello Honey, die cut with a Word Bubble Framelit, backed by a dimensional.   The flower, heart and star is from the “Something to Say” stamp set and punched out with the matching Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack. There is a Jewel in the center of the flower.

Paper Craft Crew #94

Happy Memorial Day, let me first thank all the service men and women – past and present who have served our great country – you are reason we have the freedoms we do today!   It’s been a busy weekend around here, we opened the pool which is an all day affair and had some great bar-b-q and grilled steak.

This week I decided to do the Paper Craft Crew Card Sketch challenge again. I’m finding I like having a sketch to think about for a day or two and create a card around it. The sketch is below:

PCCCS-73-103-008-300x300

For my Sunday stamp club this month, I was asked for a baby card and used the Zoo Babies stamp set, so I decided that stamp set would be the stamp set I used for the card.  I used a variety of favorite items, including a punch from the new Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack, from the new 2014-2015 Catalog which goes live June 2nd! Contact me to obtain one.

Card starts with a Whisper White card base, Kaleidoscope Designer Series Paper backed with Basic Black as the background.  In the upper right hand of the card is a banner cut from the Banners Framelits and highlighted with a heart from the new Itty Bitty Accent Punch Pack covered with Crystal Effects for a glossy finish and backed by a dimensional. Used the Crystal Effects on the Crushed Curry one inch circle for the same finish, just adds a little something fun to the card. Used the Cheveron Punch for the Bermuda Bay at the bottom and the arrows are from the Label Card Thinlits, backed with dimensionals.  Super cute animals are embossed in white and stacked on a piece of Basic Black, die cut with a Starburst Framelits.  Used the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to make sure the monkey could sit on the zebra on the alligator. Greeting is also from the Zoo Babies stamp set on a handmade banner.

Happy 16th Birthday Jake!

Today is a special day, my favorite nephew Jake is 16!  Watch out all you drivers in New Jersey!   In honor of his birthday, I made a special card and matching envelope for him. What I’m not showing you is the first envelope (made the wrong size) that I filled with lip balm and breath mints for all the girls he will be kissing to celebrate with!

Before I share the card with you, I would like to share one of my  favorite Jake stories.  When Jake was little, my mom and I would visit, babysitting while my brother and sister-in-law worked so we could spend time with him.  On one of our shopping trips to Trader Joe’s while my mom and Jake (sitting in the cart) went to get a sample of Pumpkin Pie, I walked away to look for a couple of items, all of a sudden all you could hear was “Aunt Karen”, Jake just did not like that I was out of his site, so close I stayed!  I remember his  every time I see a Trader Joe’s or Pumpkin Pie.  Jake is not one for having his picture taken, but I did find one from last year when I visited, rather handsome isn’t he!

Now let’s get down to business.   His card is a “Card-in-a-Box”.  Crumb Cake card stock for the card base and highlighted with Real Red, Coastal Cabana, Early Espresso and White Heat Embossing. I used paper from the Fresh Prints Designer Series Paper Stack as accents.  Stamp sets used: Just Sayin’ (WooHoo and You’re how old?); Happy Birthday and Red label are from the Label Love Bundle (stamp set and matching punch); 16 from the Project Life Day to Day set. Chevron Border Punch, Bakers Twine from Tag-a-Bag Accessories, Dimensionals, Real Red grosgrain ribbon  and heart & stars from the New Itty Bitty Accent Punch Set (2014-2015 catal0g).  For the envelope used the Envelope Punch Board, Polka Dot Parade Designer Series Paper, hearts from the new Itty Bitty Accent Punch Set (2014-2015 catalog) 1 1/4″ Scallop circle punch and letters from the new Metro Type Alphabet Photopolymer Stamp set which I then punched out with the 1″ circle punch.

Hope you enjoyed the story and the card, Craft On!

Build-a-Block Baby Card

Once a month my Sunday Stampers meet and yesterday was the day. Also a pleasure to get together with the ladies.  I had a request from Jan, our hostess for the day,  for a special baby card and when I saw some samples of a “Building Block Card” I knew this had to be base of my card!  I found the directions on how to make the card on the SplitCoast stampers blog in the tutorial section.

The card base is Whisper White with Gumball Green (retiring) and Daffodil Delight as the main coordinating cardstocks for backgrounds.  Watercolor Wonder Designer Series paper was used on the front as background to the stamping.  Since its was a baby card, I used the Zoo Babies stamp set and the Stamp-a-ma-Jig to line up all the animals on each others back, how cool is that! To finish off the front of the card, Congratulations was stamped.

On the front for an accent, pieces of Gumball Green stitched ribbon were folded and placed behind the animals.

Inside on the “blocks”, I used the 1 1/4″ scallop circle punch (Daffodil Delight) and 1″ circle punch (Whisper White) and the words “For Baby” from my Tim Holtz Alteration Upon a Time Alphabet die. On the 4th block under the F-O-R, I punched a heart from the new ” Itty Bitty Accent Punch Set” (new 2014-2015 catalog)

Paper Craft Crew #93

Happy Saturday,  today I decided to try the Paper Craft Crew sketch challenge.  Here is a look at the sketch.

Here is the card a designed:

For my card, I decided to use a card base of Gumball Green(retiring)  and Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper as my background and tag.  I really like the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch, it’s a great punch to have, all you need is a piece of paper 2″ wide by any length and “punch” you have cool tag. Accents on my cards is part of a Tea Lace Paper Doily and Gumball Green 3/8″ Stitched Ribbon (retiring).  The banners are cut from Crisp Cantaloupe and Tangerine Tango – greeting is from the A Dozen Thought stamp set.  Flowers, from the Petite Petals stamp set are stamped with VersaMark and Clear Heat Embossing onCrisp Cantaloupe, Tangerine Tango and Daffoldil Delight and bunched wit matching Petite Petals punch.  Center of flowers and ‘o’ in Hello are accented with a basic jewel pearl.

Anniversary Card – Mike & Diane

This week, my brother and sister-in-law celebrated their anniversary, thought I would share the card I made for them.

The card base and background mat are Whisper White, for a nice clean look. The background is embossed with the Adorning Accents embossing folder (retiring) and highlighted with Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape.  Entire background is popped up with dimensionals.  I used the Hearts a Flutter framelits to cut out the hearts, which are embossed, plain (Gold Foil Sheet)  and covered with Watercolor Wonder Washi tape – hint: cover paper first with washi tape then die cut, works much better for shapes.  Greeting is from the Teeny Tiny Wishes Stamp set, a favorite for holiday/special occasion greetings.

Hope you enjoyed, Craft On!

This and That Epic Day Designer Series paper is featured on the “Tag-A-Bag” Card.

Sneak Peak!

Happy Saturday,  today I thought I would share a  card make with products from the new catalog, available June 2nd.

It’s a simple card  using the new Blended Bloom Stamp,  Rich Razzleberry and Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blendabilities Markers. Some fussy cutting and the greeting from Itty Bitty Banners.   One tip when “fussy” cutting out a stamped image, run a black marker around the cut out edges, really helps finish the edges.  Craft on!

Tag a Bag into a Card!

Here is a card using the “Tag a Bag” Accessory kit in a different manner, sometime you just need to think outside the box.

Gumball green cardstock for card base, equal size pieces of Crushed Curry cardstock and Epic Day Designer Series Paper create the back drop for a tag, label and Bakers Twine from the Tag a Bag Accessory Kit. Punched out a Butterflies  in Crushed Curry and accent with small pearls (flip up the wings to look like they are flying).  Outside of the card has one half of the saying from the  “Remembering your Birthday” stamp set – inside reads “friends and fun, and presents too!  Happy Birthday!”.
